Assal is brilliant! But most importantly she is very impartial in her judgment of Iranian history. I would very much like to see a debate between Assal Rad and Mohammad Marandi! I wish she had tackled the CIA engineered color (e.g. Green) revolutions which have afflicted Iran too!
@34:30 Do you really think of M. Shajarian like that? That shows how superficial, and crude your view of Iran is. This clearly shows how acute your angle of seeing Iran is. This shows how do not know the roots of Iranians. You will never be able to analyze Iranian revolution and culture and religion. They way you dress in your talk says it all.
@35:30 Iranians gathered at the hospital where M. Shajarian passed away. Is this an exhibition of revolt against the state? Yes, Shajarian was a great singer. I love his singing. But he was just a singer who happened to have many fans. Like Michael Jackson. If a lot of people gathered at M Jackson’s funeral does it mean they revolted against the state? Even if they did, how many were they? How many people gathered at Shajarian’s place of passing? True nation of Iran is the MILLIONS and MILLIONS who attended general Ghassem Soleimani’s funeral.
@5:35 Excuse me? Did I hear you right? Diaspora of Iranians??? Iranians never underwent diaspora specially at your age and your father’s age, and your grandfather’s age! So please be loyal to history if u wanna talk about history of Iran
@28:43 Another bogus lie! Iranians celebrate cultural festivities, like Norooz, because these are part of their culture, NOT because they are resisting against the revolution!
I find this talk badly researched and full of contextual inaccuracies. The Pahlavi's didn't bring modernity to Iran at all, in fact their dictatorial and foreign reliant system was utterly anti-modernity. What they did was to use the oil wealth to create some level of modernization, like many countries in the Persian Gulf today. Pahlavi's destroyed and stopped the development of people participation institutions which are the fundamentals of modernity. The 1979 revolution was the direct result of the Pahlavi's rules. They actually destroyed all the gains of the Constitutional Revolution which were the real force for modernity. I am surprised that the speaker doesn't understand the difference between modernization & modernity. Your talk also full of biases, dishonesty, based on little intelligence, and at times carried childish narrative.
Well at 41:30 you watched over 2/3rds of it so does it matter at that point? Yes they are rigged since all candidates have to be allowed to run by the regime.
Living in a country where people can choose between a geriatric, and drooling old fart in Biden, and a psychopath in Trump talking of "rigged" is rich.
Great topic thanks a lot from vienna❤

Thank you for sharing such a informative talk. What is the name of Dr. Rad's book?
The coach of the Iranian national football team is Portuguese, not Spanish.
I see a lot professionalism in her.
LOL she sits on Twitter shiposting all day and posting conspiracy theories.
You must be joking😂😂

I am sorry to say that you hijacked the word “resistance” to narrate your skewed story!

@41:30 you call Iran’s election as “rigged”. I guess you lost me from this point totally! I am not going to continue to watch this kiddish show!
