You got six 30+ point words (GUQIN, CAW, ERRANTS, THEEK, SMOILE, ISLETED) against Jane Austen, but there was no acknowledgment of that at the end of the game. What does successfully meeting the challenge earn you?
Why do I get many games with all vowels or all constance letters quiet frequently and is very hard to make bingo. Higher scored components keep getting the better tiles making good words? It's not fair and I seldom get a "s" to play? I've wanted to quit playing many times because of the layout.
Could be a number of things. One things very good players do is put a lot of consideration on the tiles they are leaving on their rack. It's about as important as what you are playing onto the board since the tiles you leave are the tiles you'll play on future turns. With something like BEIQTUV, it can be very tempting to play something like QUIET (or QUITE), especially if playing those letters gets the Q onto a triple letter or triple word score. But this leave BV on the rack which is a tough combination. B and V don't form many strong words together. Another thing good players do is learn the weird words that are only ever useful in scrabble, like QI. Because of the word QI (and QAT and QIN), Q is actually a very versatile letter, moreso than V. It is better to hold onto the Q than the V in my opinion, especially if you have a U or can construct a place to put the Q, for example by cleverly placing the I. In that case, I think that for the BEIQTUV rack, something like VIBE is far better word to place in terms of the tiles you leave on the rack (QUT) and their ability to combine with other tiles. I would encourage you to watch some of the pro games on the NASPA youtube channel where the commentary is always very instructive. Hope that helps. :)
Lol @ saying “getting five 30+ point plays against Jane Austen is going to be tough” and then promptly scoring 30+ on 5 out of the first 6 turns 😂
I spotted errants!!!
