I was one of the first 3 woman in Germany who was a apprentice to became a Jockey. I started 1974, my first race was 1976. I won 13 races until I had a big accident, where stoped my career. I miss this time and loved it so much. But this time when I was apprentice, the man was laughing about us Girls. Now the time changed and there are a lot very good girl Jockey.
I'm 5 ft 2 and a naturally skinny guy. I was sitting around 102-103 pounds until about the age of 23 and am now 113 pounds at 26. I'm also a weightlifter and am decently strong for a guy of my size. I have no shot of becoming a jockey since I didn't grow up around horses but had I of grown up in the right environment, perhaps I could of been a famous jockey. Who knows?
when people ask me "what's you're dream job" or "what do you want to be" i say a jockey, but they are like 'yeah right, you can't live off of that' but I know what I want and nobody is going in my way!!
@Nufc Magpies 123 in America, we have 1 jockey school, its called NARA and it stands for North American Racing Academy, so we say it as academy or school or college :)
Goodluck!!! Im training myself to be a jockey right now, I'm getting help from some jockeys and trainers on youtube :) I can't go to NARA until I'm 18 or so
Fairly recently, i stated to take interest in horse back riding. And dreamed of becoming a Jockey. Today I came to know that max. weight of a jockey can be 54 kg. And that they start to retire by the age of 24. And know what, I joined gym few months ago, to increase my weight from 54 kg to 63 kg now. And I will turn 24 this November. God damn. Now I am thinking of becoming a breeder and horse owner. But surely my heart goes with Horse back riding so I will surely do that.
@@seabiscuit7116 l retire 2015 , I was 50 and I was strong and winning races 3 or 4 a week I probably still riding by now , only couse old injuries my back disc wiring out , doctors recommended me to hang the helmet or another accident and coul ended in a well chair or worst ,. Good luck I love riding and respect the youngsters they wanna become one of us.
Dang I remember I was crazy about being a jockey, it would be fun to ride fast horses but I don’t want to deal with owners and the bad things in racing there are people who don’t use bad things but I think equine vet would be better for me plus I’ll still want to have a side hobby as a musician and diet wise I love food and don’t exercise much so that’s why it’s not for me anymore I respect if you would like to do it.
I think i have what it takes, and if I don't, I will work until I do!

Jockeys don't start to retire at the age of 24. Much longer after. Frankie dettori is in his 40's and isn't retired.
