Hi, I am thinking about buying a neo80 raw. Is it hard to manage the raw aluminum case? Any oxidation happened yet? I know it’s easier to get damage also
@@studio20creations I see, I think I would appreciate how raw as metal it is. I don't mind getting minor damages to it and about the unclean finished look. I think that's the aesthetic of this choice. I was just worried what if it gets oxidized really quick that I can't even manage it. Thanks for your quick response.
@peopleperson24700 what i do to minimise oxidation is simply not to touch the raw metal with bare hands. When i need to move the keyboard I'll use a microfiber towel to wrap it first and when not in use it's in its case. This way the finish is pretty much still similar to when I first had it sanded.
@@studio20creations not to touch with barehands is important. That makes sense. I think I should clean it with polishing liquid with a microfiber towel. Thank you. You really helped me a lot here.
Alu doesn't rust but it will oxidise into black spots where you touch it with bare fingers. I move the board with microfiber towels and have it wrapped when not in use. Also wiping it down occasionally with IPA seems to help maintain the shiny finish.
it was the raw unfinished version from geon.works. I brought it to a local metal workshop to have it brushed with a machine to achieve this look that I had in mind.
yea i feel that nixies perform better when not broken-in compared to regular mxblacks; those you have to break them in otherwise they sound and feel quite bad haha
I looked at the assembly and assumed the top and bottom case do not contact each other with the o-rings sandwiched between them and creating a tiny air gap. Also I did not tighten the screws completely. However you do have a good point, it won't hurt to add forcebreak mod in case the cases do contact :)
Handsdown your best built.
Very kind of u to say my friend :)
Wow, such a satisfied build
Xin cám ơn!

It's next to impossible to keep pristine. Only if u are a fan of the industrial look of unfinshed metals. Hope this helps

Glad you enjoyed it bro! More B-roll this round 😅
Nicely done 👍🏻
What a Board!! ✈
after brushing, did you put a clearcoat on it?
I didn't but i would recommend to do so.
@@studio20creations has it shown signs of oxidizing/rusting?

I found polyfil works best, easy to work with as well.
@@HaiPham-dv8ke yes I enjoy polyfill as well, does a great job at removing hollowness while retaining a natural sound 👍
