      For QB it does.
These teams will learn though. They’re wasting so much money on QB, eventually the league is going to turn into only 2 or 3 QBs contesting for rings, and then rookie QBs who get a ring while still on a team friendly rookie contract.
Best bet for most teams IMO is to do the Mahomes route. Get a veteran qb for a decent price, let the rookie sit behind them for 1-2 years, then have them start while still on the rookie contract.
If they prove they can win in the playoffs, sign them to a contract. Otherwise you’ll end up with a Lamar Jackson; great QB who can’t win in the playoffs. Who wants to spend $60 million per year for a qb who cannot win a playoff game.

Based on his play it's an absolute overpay, but based on the leverage of his position it unfortunately makes sense. There are always 5 or 6 teams that don't have a QB, and haven't been able to draft a rookie they feel confident in. Any one of those teams would pay Trevor to be the highest paid QB in the NFL just to solve that problem. The Jags are paying him not to have that problem.
Unless the QB position becomes less important, or there are 4 quality guys on the market every off-season, any good QB will reset the market every time.

After meeting with all of them he told Browns and Panthers he was not interested in playing for them, he was going with Saints or Falcons. Then the Browns pulled a typical Clown move and guaranteed him a full $230,000,000 contract. He signed a few days later. So the Browns now have a QB who originally didn't want to play for them, but they threw a bunch of money at him until he said okay. The Clowns also gave the Texans 6 draft picks, 3 of which where 1st round picks in 2022. 2023, and 2024. For all those draft picks and 230 million dollars (60 mil per year cap hit) the Clowns in return got a QB who didn't want to play for them, who has played 12 games in 2 years and has a QB rating of 81.7 in those games. 🤣🤣

Dude he ain't worth that Chaka Kahn. Geeze Jacksonville screwing the league by giving so much for so little. This is worse than Cleveland paying the serial masseuse abuser.

about guaranteed money: some money is guaranteed no matter what (like a signing bonus - if you sign it, here's your check), some is guaranteed but conditioned. Is the player still rostered? Is he playing? Is he injured? Is he a backup?

The thing is... There's some people who feel QBs like Danny Jones and The Prince, eventually Dak and Tua, haven't really done enough to earn that juicy contract. True, DJ and the Prince took their respective teams to the playoff in a lontime which, is nice granted, it don't amount to much if their seasons ain't up to snuff. Still, the teams have to pay them or let them walk and wait on some other QB to come. But who know how long that could take and everyone's motive is not to wait. For some, it's playoff or bust or SB or bust
