I got a build sheet from my local Chevy dealership you just have to talk to parts and give them your vin number. I think someone put the wrong fuses in those spots too cause mine are 20 amps for the horn. Really nice Camaro though you'll have a blast with this car

I just started restoring mine. I got it new in 1995 when I was a young pup. I still own the car. It is a z28 six-speed t-tops all leather. The color is a majestic purple. In any case we just start ripping into it we were going to rebuild the motor it also has roughly the same amount of miles as yours.

Same engine/trans as my '95 Caprice had. Drives beautiful when everything is working right. Beware the Opti-Spark distributor, hopefully it's been replace once. Best and easiest to do it when waterpump was replaced.

It has 273 gears in the rear end. On freeway it's great. About the same RPM as a 6 speed on freeway. When the gear selector is missing 1st gear, it has 273 gears.

If that F Body is as rust free underneath, as it is on top, you got a great deal at $2,500.
The 1995 / 1996 LT-1 engines had the bugs worked out of them that the earlier '92 thru '94 had problems with.
I have a '96 C4 with an LT-1 that has been trouble free and I currently have 115,000.0 miles on it with the original Opti-Spark.
Good luck with your new ride.

It's so funny to see cars from even like the 1950's that people are tearing down and dustless blasting preparing to restore or resto-mod, and there are tiny little areas where there are areas of rust around the edges.
To my eyes they are in unbelievably mint condition because when I started building cars for all out racing or custom street racers in the late 1970's, I was fighting rust issues on 1969 Camaros. Not even ten years old and there were rust holes in the dog leg, front fenders, rear quarters, floor pans on the convertibles, bottoms of the doors, and trunk floors.
You name it, there could be rust.
Clearly, New England is the worst place on the planet for being a gear head.
      :)

If you own a 4th gen that isn’t a show piece; then you know when it comes to the fuel pump you go with the trap door. Dropping the exhaust and tank is only at play when you’re willing to swap out exhausts or other parts. Otherwise just have an easy access door cut behind the rear seat. Easy to find alignment topography maps for the cuts online.

I have been looking at these and they are REALLY reasonably priced even with low miles. I would have to do manual transmission though. I want to say this car does 0-60 in like 6 seconds and the manual does it in 5.5 seconds. The LS1 based cars with manual do it in 5 seconds flat. For a name how does "Red Betty" or "Red Sonya" sound? 😉

Just my personal experience. When I was shopping for a car back then I was open to any car. I drove a Z28, Trans Am, Mustang GT and even a Dodge Stealth. Both Z28 and Trans Am had issues with buttons for the instruments and the doors rattled when you closed them. The Stealth was way over priced and under powered. The Mustang just had a solid feel when closing doors and the materials were better quality. I really wanted the GM options but when interior switches are already failing on a brand new car, no thanks!

I bought my z28 convertible in 1994. I drove it for 22 years and 267,000 miles before the engine finally died. It still had the original fuel injectors and transmission. When I replaced the struts at 150,000 miles, the shop told me that they should be replaced every 50,000 miles. They were still good at 267,000 miles. The opti-spark was, of course, another story. I replaced it 4 times over the years. The body had two small rust spots on the doors. With all the parts that had a quarter of a million miles on them I sold the car as is to someone that knew what he was buying.

$2,500 is an insane deal. The automatics in these cars aren't a bad experience, and i would argue it fits the car better. which, is a muscle car/cruiser. Not really a sports car for twisty roads.

Hey, it’s not a good thing that the engine doesn’t come up to temperature. It should be right in the middle. You might have a bad thermostat that’s stuck open

    • @richardbushey2666
      @richardbushey2666 2 года назад

Most of the parts available are with with restoration companies . Still a lot of new OEM parts available, but shrinking by the day. Lots of new and used parts on Ebay. These cars are starting to get popular and collectible, so parts will be harder to come by in say 5 years.

2.5k? SUPER bargain.... I am about to spend a little less than 13k plus shipping for a 96.....but it is a convertible with a 6 speed and less than 70k miles with a clean record.

Definitely a 2.73 gear car..... on the shifter it doesn’t have a 1 2 D OD starts at 2 D OD with the performance axle it would have 3.23 gears with the 1 on the shifter ....your RPO code sticker is missing it sounds like ...☹️in the G codes yours will say GU2 which equals 2.73 axle ratio with a G80 code with it....G80 is limited slip differential GU5 is 3.23 gears ,and GU6 is 3.42 gears only offered in the 6 speed manual transmission ....I had a 1994 polo green no t-tops which I hate t-tops lol....I had cam,longtubes,52mm TB ,CAI.3.73 gears ,Vigilante 3200 stall converter MTI custom tune,I’m sure I missed a few mods lol..... I was running 12.4-12.7 @108-110mph 1/4 mile passes all day long with drag radials of course......great cars yours looks really good congrats 🎉🍾🎊🎈 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸

it won't shift into 1 manual because of noise requirements. if you look at the shifter there's a plastic block stopping the shifter from going into 1. cut it off and it'll go into 1.
