Storyline:-
An impoverished widowed Hindu nanny brings up an abused and abandoned Muslim lad...
After three of her four children pass away, wealthy Nawab Jallaudin and his wife decide to leave the 4th, Yusuf, with their relatives, Sabra and Farida, who also have their very own son, Sheku. After 3 years, they want Yusuf to be brought back, but wily Farida decides to abandon Yusuf at the railway station and pass off Sheku as him. She does pull wool successfully over the Nawab and Sheku is accepted, while Yusuf ends up with an impoverished Hindu Aaya, who ironically, loses her job with the Nawab himself, after deciding to adopt Yusuf. Years later, Yusuf has grown up, sings on All India Radio as 'Chand, meets and falls in love with wealthy widower Khan Bahadur's daughter, Jamila Banu - unknowingly setting forth a chain of events - some hilarious, some tragic, but mostly that result in his humiliation -rAjOo

Prabodh Chandra Dey (born May 1, 1919), better known by his nickname Manna Dey (মান্না দে ), is one of the greatest playback singers of all time in Hindi films and other vernacular Indian films, especially Bengali.
Manna dey was born to Purna Chandra (father) and Mahamaya Dey (mother)on 1 May, 1919. Besides his parents, his youngest paternal uncle Sangeetacharya (meaning "Venerable Teacher of Music" in Sanskrit) K. C. Dey highly inspired and influenced him. Manna received his early education in a small pre-primary school named Indu Babur Pathshala. Thereafter he attended Scottish Church Collegiate School and Scottish Church College, followed by Vidyasagar College where he received his graduate education. From his childhood, Manna showed a keen liking for wrestling and boxing, and excelled in both sports. He has a jovial personality and likes to play pranks on people once in a while.
His experimentation with western music has produced some unforgettable melodies. He has recorded more than 3500 songs.
On December 18, 1953, Manna Dey married Sulochana Kumaran from Kerala. They have two daughters: Shuroma, born on October 19, 1956, and Sumita, born on June 20, 1958.
Manna Dey currently lives in Bangalore in the township of Kalyannagar after spending more than fifty years in Bombay. He also maintains a Calcutta address. He still travels widely in the world to present musical programs.
Renowned singer, Mohammad Rafi, once said to reporters: "You listen to my songs. I listen only to Manna Dey's songs".
According to musicians Sachin Dev Burman and Anil Biswas, Manna Dey could sing any song of Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh and Talat Mehmood.
Manna Dey has been honored with the titles Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.
2004 National Award as Playback singer by Government of Kerala
2004 D. Litt Honouris Causa three times by various Universities

One of the most melodious classical based song.
It is beyond doubt that the song is a unique, uncomparable and perhaps impossible to have such thing in future... I find no words in Dictionary to admire the singing by Shree Manna DeyJi. At the same time, the dance by a non Indian Dancer PADMINI PRIYDARHINI (MALAYALI) is equally uncomparable. I haven't seen such dance with perfect expressions, and music matching "DANCE MUDRAS" in any other film before or after this "Dil Hi To Hai" film.
I watch this dance almost two time a week.
What do you mean by non Indian dancer? She was well known in many South Indian movies. This attitude that only Hindi movies are Indian is deplorable.
