Bit disappointed by your comparison between the C8 and C7. You used FR4 for both builds, but you used different switches. SOTC are also long poles and made from a different material than oil kings. Also no idea if DCX abs has a sound difference from MiTo transparent abs keycaps, but something to note. And you said the C8 was using a alu weight but didn’t say what was in the C7. Don’t think it’s totally fair to say one board sounds better when you’re comparing different materials.
I would completely agree - I found it odd that he compared the specific sound but was using different components - of course that's going to sound different! The only way to compare, obviously, would be to use at the very least the same switches and keycaps on each board. This comparison makes no sense!
well i would have said, that the the cycle 8 has one big advantage over the cycle 7: being maintained in the qmk firmware repository. but i just checked and apparently they added the cycle 7 too at some point. one big drawback they both share unfortunately, is the microcontroller, or rather the bootloader they install. if you like the uf2bootloader then fine, if you just want dfu capability you have to either change the bootloader, or make a custom pcb. also thanks for another great video
Hey man, love your channel! I would like you to know your thoughts or even review on the 8bitdo C64 hot swappable keyboard. I know you rather do builds but just wanna ask. I swapped the C64's kailh box whites switches with the heavier box navys which feels perfect since I love old school keyboards like the model m. One day, i hope to try out the zeal clickiez 75g, I also wanna know what your thoughts on those switches. Keep up the great work, Scott. Best wishes.
This thing is amazing looking. On day lol. I picked up a redragon k556 pro as i needed a new keyboard and didn't have the money for the one i really wanted.
I love my Neo80, one of the best typing boards I have ever owned. Thank you for the comparison because I finally feel like I don't have to buy this one as well!
I love my Cycle 7. I really couldn't justify getting the Cycle 8 (with the Plywrks Spyder around the corner). I think the Cycle 8 is a good option for anyone who missed out on the Cycle 7.
Hi Scott, thanks for the video. I was very interested in the Cycle 8, but group buy was a no for me. Could you also talk about the JWK x Vertex V1? ¡They are becoming very popular and you always give the best reviews!
I’m having a hard time deciding on wether I want to grab a cycle 7 or a neo80. Overall in my opinion the sound signature on the neo80 sounds more full and less dull
Having the F row makes the Cycle 8 'better' to me since I use F keys all the time. Personally don't really care past that but it's always good to have options that suit your needs.
I was just thinking how not having the F row makes the Cycle 7 'better' to me since I don't use the F keys all the time and appreciate the slimmer footprint. Personally I also care past that and it's good to have options that suit my needs, but I like the look fo the Cycle 7 more than the Cycle 8. The random curves on the bottom feel out of place. I do however enjoy the accent above the arrow keys on the Cycle 8 more.
@@rjsmith2007 I ordered mine without the accent, just another example of having options being a good thing. Another one is wk vs wkl, seems the trend is wkl but I use the wk all the time and wouldn't order a keyboard without one. I personally care more about function over form but it doesn't hurt that most of the 'budget' TKL's available recently have also been decent to good looking boards for the money.
Genuinely don’t get the point of this video? These boards are identical, except one is frl and one isnt. Get whichever layout you like, using different builds for comparison is not very clever anyway
I don't think the wait time is worth it anymore. The cycle 7 took more time than they originally stated. What I learned in my wait was boards came out to compete that were just as good and more available. The same will happen for the Cycle8. They should find a way to get them out sooner before I am gonna waste half a year again waiting on Cycle8. The GX87 is gonna be pretty dang close.

Hello friend, please bring content about Feker K75, I bought one but it seems that now it is called VTER K75, I am confused, a salesman told me that he brought Feker and now it is called VTER. I wanted to know what is the truth
hopefully the 6.25u wires aren't going to be a total shit show. My friend's c7 wires got so bent that i had to buy cherry stabs after straightening 5 times
@@DvineDragoon Yep, it's a keyboard video, so I was quite surprised to find poorly executed bro humor. *shrug* It's his channel, he can lose subscribers if he wants. I like how he reviews keyboards though.
these intros are getting wilder 💀
Are they? Lol
Are you sure? Scott didn't even put on a wig this time lol
Thanks Scott! You literally addressed everything, this compared to Cycle 7 and even the Neo80.

Was gonna say the same thing
Something was odd with my pcb and other switches wouldn't fit... Only the worn ones
bit disappointed that you didn't watch the full video:) but yeah even from the beginning, comparing different layouts is unreliable imo
The dual microphones on the Lite are surprisingly clear. Didn’t even need to connect my external mic for meetings.
Bought one in purple with brass weights, can't wait to get it! It will be my first TKL
I love the color scheme you chose.
Thaanks for your honest opinion Scott! It refrains me from FOMO and keeps me waiting patiently for my Neo80.
“80’s laser Trapper Keeper” - yes! Thankyou
For anyone who’s thinking about getting a new webcam, I’d definitely recommend the Tiny 2 Lite. It’s budget-friendly but still delivers.
I love my cycle7!
Me too! I have the rock color and it's great

Well I've already got Cyanlet and wanted a Cycle 8... I think I'm gonna have to copy this, it looks rad.

Neo80 has a sound profile that's closer to the cycle 7 honestly
Having the F row makes the Cycle 8 'better' to me since I use F keys all the time. Personally don't really care past that but it's always good to have options that suit your needs.

so sound performance wise, you would say cycle7> neo80> cycle8? XD
could you review more keyboard switches
O-Ring sounds more clacky, but I do like the Gasket Bean more
luckily I bought the HE build. Jwk sockets are only suitable for plateless builds, I don't think they've learn the lesson from C7 pcb issue.
Does the transparent abs of the keysterine impact the sound relative to the double shot abs for the DCX?
Genuinely don’t get the point of this video? These boards are identical, except one is frl and one isnt. Get whichever layout you like, using different builds for comparison is not very clever anyway
that correlation was INSANE

I wish they had sent you the Hall Effect PCB. No complete review of that as of right now (software and performance). Nice review though!
Is it better than neo?they are in same price range
Please make a video of akko mu01 with clack build. thanks
Is this the ruby colorway?
Yes ruby!
Cyberpunk build is niiiiiice

I still love the ND75! But different segment VS this one

Oh really? From the keyboard?
Lovely ostentatious look. Also, you either spelled or read ostentatious wrong.
Haha I don't doubt it!
Scott whats wrong with marrying both your girlfriend and her sister? Share the love for everyone :>
where's the distracted boyfriend meme?
I was actually going to drop this in but couldn't fit it haha
thank god im dating the sister I guess looool
strange keyboard....why Oil kings sound like HMX
No?
Of you don't need the f row, I would take the 7...its a great board. If you need f row, then you will get about 90% of the 7 with it
Neo80 wins imo, (I own one)
obsessing over sound on a sub $200 board is beyond stupid
Why?
Sorry we're not all rich 💀
@@ojgimpson 3x the features, 1/3 of the price compared to a comparable board from just 2 years ago. nitpicking on sound makes no sense.
