i just recently purchased a Toyota HEV XLE dito sa Pinas, and this is my take sa mileage. i drove from Toyota Manila Bay back to San Pablo City Laguna and clocked 22km/L !! Even if 3 bars na lang ang battery, it can still kick in sa slow traffic but, it will automatically shift to gasoline when you rev the pedal. Also, if your speed goes beyond 40kph kaya tapak itlog dpat. Good for slow moving traffic. Well of course, all these are negated pag naka aircon. The batteries drains fast pag naka aircon. Overall bang for the buck ang mileage nya. To put it simply, i full tanked the gas, and drove from San Pablo City, dumaan ako Antipolo using the backroad (Pagsanjan, Mabitac, Tanay Route), then to Bulacan, then back to Antipolo, then back to San Pablo City. I still have 1/4 left...
For the price, we are losing a lot of "features" compared to the US variant of the same model. It's like Toyota Philippines has the short end of the stick in the global market of RAV4.

Ang ayoko ko talaga pag bumibili ng kotse dito sa pinas madami silang tinatanggal na features like yung heated seats and sunroof pero mas mahal parin ang presyo kompara sa ibang bansa tapos limited pa ang variants and colors.

I'm attracted to HEVs because of fuel prices. I know I will have my ROI for its SRP in like 4 years by saving on fuel, however, what I am extremely worried about is, when the car reaches 10 years. Any typical battery will die by that time, and you have to buy a replacement battery worth 300k or 400k, this will offset my ROI. Now If I sell it before its battery die, who will buy it knowing that its battery will soon expire? Finally, can this be maintained outside or it should only be maintained in the CASA, maintenance cost will be expensive. I want this but I am having 2nd thoughts.

Having "savings on fuel" because of the car being a "hybrid" is a myth. The so-called savings on fuel will offset on the price of the vehicle. Let's say you save 5k pesos monthly on gas. Multiply that by 5 years, the total is 300k. Now the price of this hybrid is 2.172M pesos. Subtract the total price of the unit by the savings in 5 years, it's not a lot. You might be bettor off getting the Fortuner for only 1.8M - 2M. Granted the fuel prices are not fixed, you can also say the interest rates for the payments is also not fixed.
Excellent analysis. One could also argue that you could buy a vehicle for less than 600K and the difference between 2.172M and 600K will buy you a lot of fuel for the next so and so years (Too drunk to do any calculations at the moment).
Right? We’re just not ready yet for hybrids and EVs. Our market requires more regulatory help. They’re just too expensive and even Toyota HEVs, you still have to change the battery because battery is battery and it degrades overtime, which costs too much and dami sakit sa ulo. Wala ka sakit ulo 5 years dito pero ang mahal naman ng presyo.
Na test drive ko both rav4 and corolla cross, with rav4 being more pricy without awd and both have low end interior.. corolla cross is more preferable...
A Toyota dealer actually allowed you to test drive 2 of their units?! Really??? And I thought Toyota never allowed that kind of sales technique in their dealerships. When did Toyota abandoned their mantra of "I'm Toyota, the undisputed market leader and I don't allow such unnecessary practice of test/compatibility driving my units because my reputation speaks for itself (even if several of my base models have mediocre features and are practically devoid of aesthetic appeal)". I must have missed that memo.
You can't tale the XLE OFFROADING. It's a FWD. It's also missing a panoramic sun roof, blind spot warning, 360 view cam, leather seating, power seats. The LTD IS 4X4.

The RAV4 would save a lot on fuel, but the CX8 is tops for cabin quality and refinement. Not to mention the larger space.

A bunch of 2008 Nissan Leaf still have 80% battery capacity by 2020. That's 12 years. Not bad for a full EV.
