Even then, the only time it's unfair is when the events are too exclusive like the Azure Flute, but if you missed that, you could have gotten Arceus from the 20th Anniversary event like I did. It's not Nintendo's fault you couldn't bother to get the FREE code from any gamestop. Again though, if you want to hack one in, by all means do it. Nothing they can do about that.

      At higher levels this is true. A level 100 Caterpie would beat a level 30 Kangaskhan. It's just a quirk of the formula for calculating stats that a level 1 Pokemon is slightly stronger than it "should" be.

    • @kratal122
      @kratal122 Год назад +6

      It also eliminates nuances like move pools and future potential. Hypothetically, a Metapod caught at LVL 100 would end up having a strength score of 20.5k, but the only move it would know is harden, whereas a Mewtwo caught at LVL 10 would have a strength score of only 6800, but would know at least confusion and often swift to deal direct damage. And, strictly speaking, a Magikarp caught at LVL 99 would be better than a Magikarp caught at LVL 100 outside of Legends Arceus, because the LVL 99 Magikarp can still evolve.

      Ooh good idea! I assume it would obviously not count battle facility Pokémon.
      And I think the highest of them all would be Cynthia's level 88 Garchomp in BDSP, with a strength score of 52800.
      As for the weakest of them all it would probably be one of the early-route Trainers?
      EDIT: Wait, I might've found a higher one. In SwSh, Hop uses a level 70 Zacian and Zamazenta in some of his battles, which are in their Crowned Sword and Crowned Shield forms due to holding the proper items. Doing the calculations (720 BST*level 70), their strength score comes out to 50400... which still isn't higher than Cynthia's. She still remains supreme... for now at least.
      EDIT 2: And if you do count battle facility Pokémon, the result becomes... interesting to say the least. You see, all battle facilities except both Battle Factories have a level cap of 50. However, you can fight Trainers with level 100s in the Battle Factories (the ones in Emerald, Platinum, and HGSS). Of the Pokémon that are allowed in (and thus can be rental Pokémon and used by Trainers), Slaking's BST is the highest, at 670. Hence, if you fight a Trainer that ends up having a level 100 Slaking, it's strength score is 67000. That's even higher than the level 80 Arceus discussed in the video.

    • @awesomelink2347
      @awesomelink2347 2 года назад +2

      (Separate reply because my other one's getting crazy-long now)
      I think I found one that surpasses BDSP Cynthia, but it's a bit debatable. In USUM, Giovanni uses a level 70 Mega Mewtwo X (in US) or Y (in UM), both of which have BSTs of 780, giving them a strength score on 54600. I know Mikey said he doesn't count Mega Evos in this video, but Trainer ones are different, as they immediately Mega Evolve them before you attack it or it attacks. For instance, in this case, damage would never be calculated with regular Mewtwo's stats (and hence its base stats), but rather with Mega Mewtwo's. In any case, if Mega Evolution isn't counted, the highest strength score would still go to BDSP Cynthia's level 88 Garchomp.

    Regarding Arceus: It is infact possible to catch a "legit" Arceus in Diamond and Pearl using the tweaking glitch, though its not possible in Platinum because of loads of invisible walls they added. That said, while it is definitely possible, you do need to use glitches to do it. That also being said, you can get Arceus using that glitch infinitely many times, and, due to the precise manner they were created, they can actually be transferred into the Pokemon Bank, since it doesnt know the difference between an Arceus caught the way originally intended and one caught using the tweaking glitch.

In Pal Park, you have a menu option that can be used to leave early. The game sets the flag giving you that option upon entering, however, it is never removed because the devs never expected you to leave the way you did. Once in the hall of origin, select that option in your menu, and arceus will appear. This works because the event that would trigger its appearance was, for whatever reason, copied over to the same slot that using that flag activates. As for electrode’s bst, it remains the same since it’s current sp attack and sp defense stats are the same. So Mewtwo is still the strongest (52080).

    This “strength score” seems both gimmicky and not representative of the actual value of a pokemon in a battle. Multiplying by levels just skews your results towards pokemon you can receive at level 100, while you could just as well train a competitively better pokemon to that level and it would be stronger. Seems to me that you traded in one boring metric (base stat total) for a different boring metric, neither of which is reflective of the “best” pokemon in a game.
    This seems like an exercise in mucking around with numbers, which is fine and well and I found it somewhat interesting-but not as it was advertised, as discussing the “strongest” pokemon of each game. I would’ve preferred actual analysis of strategy, potentially including discussion of stuff like typing, movesets, stats, and what opponents you face in the game, but I guess that could just be me. And yes, it would be subjective based on what sorts of strategies you prefer, but what’s so bad about that? If you want to avoid always selecting the pokemon with the highest base stats, you can omit legendaries from the analysis.
    Again, would just like to say that this video was reasonably interesting-i watched all of it-i just dont think it’s a very accurate metric of “strongest pokemon”

    Been going through some of your backlog, because it’s good background noise while I’m doing house work, and after listening to this I wondered who had the highest strength score in Sword and Shield since this video predates the games and it’s DLC and I found something interesting and I’m sorry if it’s already been pointed out.
    There is a special raid den in the Crown Tundra’s Giants Bed area that doesn’t appear to do anything at first glance however if you go to it with all 5 of the different Regis in your party then you get to participate in a braid battle against a level 100 Regigigas. Regigigas has a BST of 670 and therefor a strength score of 67,000. Not only do I believe that this is the strongest one in Sword and Shield but I believe, unless I’m just missing something big, that makes it the Pokémon with the highest Strength Score in the series and by quite a large amount. I got my info from Serebii so if I got something wrong I blame them.

    Using this method, could you calculate the strongest trainer in each game?

    Feel like it was a missed not opportunity not to include type effectiveness in this.
    Stats ÷ weaknesses × strengths × level acquired.
    (Skip division if 0)
    So a gen 1 MewTwo would be
    680 ÷1 × 2 × 70 = 95,200
    When accounting for it's bugged lack of weakness to ghost
    A regular Mewtwo meanwhile would be
    680 ÷ 3 × 2 × 70 = 31,733.33 recurring
    Think this would allow you to touch upon battle in a fun way without having to dive into move pools

    Ho ho and lugia I think should count in emerald because even though the item you need to get to them is an event or mystery item, technically both legendary Pokémon are in the game's code and you can legitimately acquire them with out just getting them via the internet . same with arceus in gen 4

    Michael, in pokemon red and blue you can manipulate the cinnabar island glitch to capture level 128 pokemon from the last wild area that you encountered a pokemon. I had several hypnos that bodied Mewtwo.
