Jerry Herman's musical theater catalogue is fantastic. He has written such wonderful, singable, memorable songs! This is fantastic footage and he was a more-than-worthy recipient of this award!
I saw the national tour of La Cage Aux Folles with Christopher Sieber as Albin six years ago. And the first time I heard a bit of Jerry Herman’s music was Daffy Duck singing We Need A Little Christmas from Mame!

i love Jerry Herman!and when is someone gonna give 'Mame' the revival it so deserves?i mean,'Gypsy' is probably my favorite musical,hands down.BUT-can't we give the old war-horse a rest(that means you,Mz. Streisand).when was the last time that 'Mame' was done?
Gypsy? Every time I watch it I wonder why I did - once is enough! It's a pretty boring show. Mame instead is sooo filled with joy it puts a smile on my face and a snappy step to my walk everything 😁 and if you love the musical, read the book, totally delightful 😉.

I hear they are doing a revival of Dear World. I hope so. I love Jerry Herman's music. This Kennedy Centre tribute was amazing and so well deserved.
