When I found this video, I was so surprised to see yall, after all these years. Alot of the properties that yall either video or took pictures of,I still recognize and know the people that owned them still. So many people have left town,or died, but most just got new places. Yall did a wonderful job with this video. Keep the good work up!!!
I grew up right outside Mamou in Vidrine and haven’t spent much time in 20 years now, but that took me back. My dad was older and grew up there and one of my brothers and sisters had a sausage kitchen there. So sad to see many of the houses in that state now. My thing was the video stores Mrs Rita’s family video, and neighbors and their family who originally owned Robbie’s and town and country.
So many questions! I stayed in Mamou - for a short stay over at Savoy Medical. Waaay back in 1988 Do the apartments on Cherry Street - still exist? They had wooden staircases- I think- What was the name of the boudin shop ...kinda outside of town - possible towards Ville Platte. Maybe there was more than one. It so flat , no wonder my sister rode her bike all the time - while I was recovering! Thank you for making this video. I have a yearning to come back to Cajun country and live in Mamou. I live in NC but am originally from Suburban Maryland. Love Cajun music and food
🎼why did you go and leave me in big Mamou you went away and left me alone and blue, oh please come back oh baby come on back to big Mamou......Fiddling Frenchy Burk and band🎼
