I’m doing the same thing on a 4560. I was having a hard time getting the old steering wheel off. I asked my John Deere mechanic friend and he said unscrew the nut flush with to top then while you push up on steering wheel hit the nut with a hammer. After 2 or 3 whacks wheel came right off.
Good wanted to know how to get my wheel off. But not sure mine will go that well since it's an open station tractor that has been in the rain and such for 40 years. Lol.
Great video. Took a little while the first time but it’s much easier now that I know what I’m doing.

Take the big nut off then Take a 3/8 deep socket set over the spline and pound away. That way the threads don’t get wrecked
Thanks
