  • Video summarising the activities and results of the project "Enhancing community resilience to climate change in mountain watersheds” (2021 and 2024) in the Huascaran National Park, Ancash, Peru.
The project was implemented with funding from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) and with the Mountain Institute as local implementing partner, in close coordination with local communities, SERNANP, SERFOR, and other related stakeholders.
The metaphor of plants "taking root" conveys the idea of history rooted in the soil, while the stem and leaves represent the visible work of the community in its day-to-day life.
Just as ecosystems sustain livelihoods and mitigate risks that affect populations, communities also play a critical role in providing the necessary care for ecosystems to regenerate and persist, in a dynamic of mutual resilience.
