Policies in the last few years have contributed to this. Yep, our federal government would prefer oil from other countries then our own country (United States). Such policies which would allow the Keystone Pipeline, under the previous administration, would help companies like this and reduce the gas at the pump. Not everyone is buying electric cars and petroleum is still found in many products we use today. We need as many Americans working, no company in our country, especially a refinery, should be closing.
Wow you do understand that America is nothing but land for rent right. Most of these refineries in the "USA" aren't owned by the USA LOL look them all up all these refineries are owned by sheiks and tycoons in Dubai lol or princes im serious these are not owned by the US and they don't even get taxed, thats why there's always a war behind oil and gas
@@ronintheyorky4426 thank you for the information. Either way, it doesn't make sense for any American (or *American based) company to go out of business. We still have tons of oil and gas in this country. Current as well as previous policies are geared towards foreign interests that don't care about us, the American people. Politicians stop fighting against your constitutes.

No surprise here. Old, unprofitable refinery, plus refinning isn’t in LyondellBassel’s core business, which is olefins and polyolefins.
That’s exactly what one of the operators told me the last time I was there. They haven’t turned a profit in 5 years now.
So how many of those jobs lost?
