Whenever I listen to his piece, I can immediately recognize him. It's like a signature, and no one else can play like him. The tempo and intensity are so satisfying.
The world is fortunate that satisfactory recording equipment existed during Heifetz' lifetime. Now future generations will know why he may well have been the greatest of all time.
The Ender Mighty he means that Paganini didn’t have recording equipment in his age. Hearing a virtuoso is infinitely better than hearing stories or looking at compositions
@wholeNwon Couldn't agree with you more, but would like you to listen to Josef Hassid's recording of the same piece, and tell us what you think. Here on youtube
@@marcvdm1111 I've listened to Hassid's moving rendition several times in the past. The differences in the instrument are evident even considering the recording shortcomings. His musicality is, of course, supreme. With that said, I think there is a great deal to commend the truly superb performance of Josef Sud who was, as you likely know. Dvorak's descendant. Oh, and then there is Elman! How fortunate we are that he will be with us forever.
Heifetz takes certain liberties in tempo and intensity that make the piece the more beautiful. A real master of interpretation. Simply the best by far.
Listening to Heifetz playing Dvorak's "Humoresque" is the musical equivalent of reading W. G. Sebald -- that is, experiencing a past that, though irretrievable, irresistibly draws you in with its unique aura. Listen to those inimitable position shifts, and the way he picks up the same note on the string below, now in a more somber color. Nobody did that like Heifetz. Then the slight raspiness of the mono recording, a function not only of his Guarneri violin but also of Heifetz's eccentric preference for being miked up close. His rhythmic freedom (absolutely sure-footed in short pieces; rather less so in large forms), which allows minor phrases suddenly bloom like an orchid; and of course the wistful nature of the piece itself.
I'm very impressed with your insightful analysis of the Heifetz rendition !! a most gifted artist , probably the greatest violinist - certainly in my humble opinion, !
@@patconroy3202 Heifetz never ceases to astonish. He and Oistrakh are the violinists to whom I find myself returning time and again. Both feature unparalleled efficiency and ease of the bow-arm, though Heifetz arguably had the edge when it comes to maintaining top-form. Then again, Heifetz had the leisure of pacing himself, rather than being exploited like the work-horse that the Soviet regime turned Oistrakh into after about 1958. Heifetz also had the most perfectly sculpted hands and fingers of any violinist I know. You may have seen the wonderful two-part documentary about him ("God's Fiddler") on RUclips.
Beautiful tune with an enchanting melancholy, that was so characteristically Eastern European a century ago! Jascha Heifetz was really a terrific violinist!
People still refuse to acknowledge the passion and the depth in his music making just because he was more famous than their beloved idols. Lost causes.
What a treasure! This piece si well known in my country (Czech Republic) as it was used so many times in ads, movies and so on and that sort of commercialized it. Hearing it now, performed by Heifetz, makes me appreciate it's simple beauty once more:) Thanks for the vid!
the way he turns that last phrase is really something. His sound is more edgy than a lot of other great players, but he renders the raw sound into something very fine and delicate, like an alchemist or a sorcerer.
Feel so happy to listen to this piece. Thanking to Heifetz, Dvorak, and you violim. Among all, oh, Heifetz! I can't stop listening his plays on RUclips for these days.
Reading your post takes me back 20 or so years. I first heard Humoresque when I was 16 and I could not stop listening. It is still one of my all time favourites.
Ooh GOD!!! This is ANOTHER level!!!!! Im learning this one now.... but LORD JESUS!!! This man play this melody like a GOD!!!!! My respect! And thanks for this video!!!
Não tem como ser melhor que isso ja escutem tantas vezes essa peça mais agora que ouvi com Heifetz parace que éa primeira vez que ouço a Humoresque perfeito
This would be a perfect soundtrack in a 1960s movie, I imagine a scene where a hard working woman has this soundtrack on her everyday life, the interpretation is so sweet and beautiful, ive never heard a humoresque like this before
I saw the movie starring John Garfield and Joan Crawford. The movie title is Humerisque? Sorry, my spelling! Stern was the one playing for JG in the background. Stern was terrific! I hope Hollywood played pretty pennies for Stern!
A problem for this Heifetz arrangement of 6 flat and sophiscated double stop Humoreque is too difficult to play by ordinary students. Yet Heifetz sounds so easy and simple and charming.

Well, it's Heifetz.
Heifetz casually spamming double stops like it's nothing, truly an unforgettable violinist of humankind
Whenever I listen to his piece, I can immediately recognize him. It's like a signature, and no one else can play like him. The tempo and intensity are so satisfying.
he plays the last notes quite differently than others as well, he makes it very unique and emotion
2 words. Mischa Elman. You're welcome
The world is fortunate that satisfactory recording equipment existed during Heifetz' lifetime. Now future generations will know why he may well have been the greatest of all time.
Bruh are all the nel cor piu non me sento recordings gone

Barely satisfactory. Full Dynamic range was not there yet. Although he was a semi modern artist.

Just imagine how much better he could have become with a little more practice (sorry, it's late).
Amei seu comentário que é uma verdadeira reverência ante tamanha beleza!
The double stops 😍😍
so beautiful! Always better when not rushed.
this is so ironic lol

Jimmy Deng,
What do you mean by “ironic”, Sir?
Thank you.
He just goes for it. He does what he wants. It's so darn beautiful.
Wow. Never heard Humoresque played with this kind of emotion. This is by far the best recording I've ever heard.

It's the best of the humoresques! It's so beautiful!!!
Such a simple yet beautiful piece.
Yes it is. :D
shes not simple

Man why can’t American ads be more like yours
I love you, Heifetz!!!

Arguably one of the best performances in violin history excluding pieces like the Paganini caprices
Americans: miles per hour
Me listening to this: sharp breath intake per gliss
🤣
Heifetz and Dvorak not yet die ,he is in the people heart who love music
^^Wei Poh^^ cliche af.
What a coincidence, I am 14 now and all I can think about now is Orchestral music and by far "Humoresque" is my favorite piece!
Even in an old recording, the genius of Heifetz and Dvorzak are evident :) Ah I just love this so much.......
I love how he embellished th piano part. We are so blessed that he walked( and played violin and piano and composed and arranged) among us🙏🥧❤🦆
1:42 sounds like something from Narnia
Trueeee
Or lord of the rings
Kreisler seemed a little brighter, but Heifetz gives this piece a divine touch sound. S.T.
And more mellow tones.

so clean so pure so perfect!
Su sonido deslumbra por su bello y brillante timbre , con una calidad absoluta en los graves y en los agudos .
Heifetz offers one of the most unique interpretations of this piece.
Hassid and Kreisler play this beautifully too.
The best version. It makes me happy and blue at the same time.
Heifetz = perfection ❤
Lovely performance bythe one and only JASCHA HEIFETZ ENJOY IT
Wouah! Ça m'a traversé le corps et l'âme.... (WOoohhh!... That crossed my body and soul....).

Impeccable. Bravo!
This rendition captivates my soul. Viva Dvorak!
Cleveland DaCosta Viva Heifetz !
And Fritz Kreisler for his transcription of the piece !
Wow this is just so beautiful played! This is one of my favorit pieces :) , thanks for the upload!
All that feelings. He is playing it best.
My father used to enjoy exactly this piece of beautiful msic played by this virtuosso
heifetz has never been my favorite violinist, but I think this is without question the performance of this piece. simply great
fresh, pure, beautiful, magnificent. I love this version most as it showed the original/nature picture for me instead a mixed/complex arrangement.
So much feeling, just gorgeous.
Awsome performance, totally the standard for playing this piece.
Яша Хейфец абсолютно гениальный скрипач! Это что-то совершенно бесподобное! Просто душа замирает от его игры! Браво! Браво! Браво!
Да, он самый лучший
На моём канале опубликовано несколько его видео, можете посмотреть

He is widely regarded as one of the greatest violinists of all time.!
I am oddly reminded of Scarlet from whenever I listen to this rendition, especially from 1:44. This is my absolute favorite version of Humoresque🤍
Jascha heifetz Execução perfeita humoresque 🎻🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Beautiful playing wonderful
Wowww! está pieza me evoca mi vida con Cynth
When music stirred the beauty of the soul
@yooolue absolutely! beautiful. it helped change my opinion of heifetz as an artist. and his melodie by gluck. gorgeous
this Heifetz performance is coming across quite like Elman, and I like that
nostalgia... i remember this song... so beautiful...
小时候总听这首睡觉,也就是一个一般级别的音乐家演奏的。今天听大师海菲兹演奏的,我惊了,感觉顶级的演奏配顶级的琴,似乎听的是另一首曲子。太震撼了!
This would be a perfect soundtrack in a 1960s movie, I imagine a scene where a hard working woman has this soundtrack on her everyday life, the interpretation is so sweet and beautiful, ive never heard a humoresque like this before
OMG! Such an amazing performance! Love it!
I'm playing the first part on an arrangement of this for trombone quartet. It's pretty taxing, but listening to this recording gives great motivation.
Wow that was cool---quite an interesting arrangement in both the violin and piano parts and superb playing...
Calming and soothing
Can't believe that it is the same piece !
This is absolutely too good!👌🏾
I don't believe in god but if he is up there, he has done one perfect job in sending an angel like you Mr. Heifetz❤ You are more than a human..
Una verdadera joya. Muchas gracias.
Wonderful ! Thank you for posting :)
Exquisite version!
just divine!!
I saw the movie starring John Garfield and Joan Crawford. The movie title is Humerisque? Sorry, my spelling! Stern was the one playing for JG in the background. Stern was terrific! I hope Hollywood played pretty pennies for Stern!
Asombroso y magistral!

So amazing! I love it😍
Sounds so simple but so rich!!!
The best performance, I also like Kreisler's one. By the way, there is a very nice jazz piano interpretation by Earl Hines
the best

I don't know much about technical aspect in violin. I feel the chaconne he plays quite fast and cool, but in this piece, humoresque, he is GOD!
Happy birthday 🎊🎉🎈
Perfeito, tocante, lindo!
I love you Heifetz the most
古典的怎麼聽都不厭 !
nice one...love d piece
Wonderful!
Nothing but the absolute best
Playfully, as it should be played, not mechanically. Bravo Heifetz!
