Man, I thought over 40 mm was just too much. You are Hulk. I really like the Runwell, specially in 36mm blue dial, but the design are so classic that in any color is great.

I added another video for you showing which parts glow-in-the-dark on the white faced watch. The only thing that glows on the white faced watches are the hands. Hope that helps.

I'm not an expert on the resale, but it seems like the market has gotten pretty soft for reselling Shinola's for profit. It also appears the bigger watches are getting better premiums. In this case, I'd probably just return it and ensure that you get your money back. I think the serial number really needs to be 1 or 2 to be a real collectible, but that's a guess.

and if it were manufactured in Switzerland it would cost double. So I think it still a great value

Shinola is NOT made in Detroit. It is made in SHENZHEN, CHINA, and only ASSEMBLED in Detroit. Don't let yourself be fooled. How do I know this? I know the supplier.

this is actually true - but the emphasis is more on the fact that being crafted by Americans in Detroit and is a growing symbol of a non-tech business sin the City.
I've seen a few of their presentations first hand. They had a great showing at Open.Co Detroit yesterday the 12th*

i like your footage, excellent in colour! You have got yourself a beautiful watch, man, and the whole idea of the Shinola company, and its presentation to us looks só sympathetic, you just kind of grant these guys the sale. But, of course, it is a beautiful watch in the 1st place, with an overall nice presentation.

Wow lots of comments regarding the high prices of Shinola. They seem to be well built watches. I am not a quartz-watch guy so I wont be buying one, but I do like the looks.

I'm new to watches and in love with the shinola design. But
alas I'm a poor college student and can't afford anything above 200 for
aesthetic purposes. I’m not sure what these designs are labeled as but I’m
looking for something that also looks like the timex weekender, or the Hamilton
navy. Preferably something that goes well with canvas or leather straps,
automatic if possible but quartz is alright, and no fancy chrono features,
fancy letterings, buttons, just simple and clean design. Any suggestion is
    appreciated thanks!

I have several watches, including a couple of premium Swiss ones. However, I really enjoy wearing my Skagen on a day-to-day basis. The design is quite modern and minimalistic without being "too modern". It is NOT an "in your face" watch and does a perfect job. Runs on battery. Really happy with it - Great value for money and they are not expensive at all.

I don't see it. It's a quartz movement assembled in Detroit. They want you to believe that because its made with "swiss parts", that it's a swiss watch. It is not.

    • @petervonpanda
      @petervonpanda  10 лет назад

I can see that. Although I would almost say it's the other way around. They want you to believe it's a Detroit watch despite it having Swiss parts.

Peter von Panda Many watches have Swiss 'part(s)'. And the ones which don't are most likely to have either Japanese or Chinese parts.

Nice overview! A quick question... is the Super-LumiNova on the hour markers and digits, in addition to the hands? I know that's the case with the black-faced version (as you indicate in that video), but it's hard to tell with the white face since the markers and numerals are in black ink.

If you feel the watch in person - the feeling is exceptional. The design alone is going to be classic for many years to come. Is it a cheap quartz movement? Sure. But the rest of the watch is sturdy and the design is handsome.

Barney's accidentally sent me 28mm Runwell when I wanted the 40mm, but my dilemma is that the serial number looks like it's 14 so wondering if I should return it or try and sell on ebay? Any clue as to whether the non limited edition watches will have extra value?

    • @petervonpanda

***** personally, I think Rhonda makes some of the best Quartz movements. There are lots of really cheap movements out there, and I haven't had a problem with even the weird ones. The good thing is that Shinola's have a lifetime warranty (I think). Replacing the movement is pretty easy to do in case it ever dies.
