Japan erased a 15 point 4th quarter deficit to beat the Venezuelans 86-77. Hiejima just could not miss from downtown. 23 points, 6-7 from downtown. Watanabe had 21 points and 8 boards, and Kawamura continuing to thrive using that Heart Over Height mentality with 19 points and 11 dimes. If Japan wins against Cape Verde, they'll qualify for next year's Olympics in Paris representing FIBA Asia.

Japan stayed with their core players throughout the game. Good chemistry was built. Players got their rhythm. Gilas should learn from this, unlike experimenting while playing the game & lack of confidence on players with only very small margin of error, they’re out of the court. No dependable point guard as well. Congratulations Japan!
Japan has great exposure their country have the money to pay high caliber 2-3 imports in their league and several teams to play . I'm not surprise they're beginning to go up in the ranks!

The Japanese players had become taller and better. With one 6'9, one 6'8, one 6'6, two 6'5, one 6'4, one 6'3, one 6'2, one 6'1, a naturalized at 6'10 and just two below 6'0 at 5'8 and 5'6, I think this is probably the tallest Japanese team I have seen. Congrats Japan for the win.
