You need to carry a piece of c channel for situations like this. I carry a couple of different lengths on my recovery unit and they have come in handy many times.
This Man started it all on You-TubeFor me and many others.... I actually do this in Utah USA and have my own wrecker!!!! Would love to meet Him one day.
Nice job on the recovery Eric! Not to much to work with on the front end but you figured it out!! So it was "Free" huh? Too bad it was a Ford, you might have been able to stock some extra parts for the wrecker😁
Failed welds were what let go, and allowed the bumper to come off. I'm out there to get stuff off the trail and back to camp. If I can do that without making repairs on the trail, then that is what we do.
i wouldnt call four 1 inch welds a "repair" merely a SAFE and hassle-free way to get the truck off the trail. temporarly weld the bumper back on provides a much better way to lift the truck without juggling with wood blocks and having it fall off your lift. i wouldnt want you to hurt or injure yourself in the process of trying to rig it like that.
That's what I was wondering ....wouldnt a 3-5 horse be enough?....it would make things a little safer ...cause I hate like hell to one of them come off and go flying right by the wrecker down a hill into site seers...that would suck!!! I know ur in a hurry to get stuff done but there is always that .....if we would of taken out 15 minutes to do this...they would still be here. Its just those moments that worry people....WE WANT ALL OF U GUYS SAFE CAUSE WE LOVE THIS STUFF....Eric I know ur damn good !!!!!! Even nascar drivers have ACCIDENTS!!!!! Just saying so please be safe and think....we all would miss u and everyone involved!!!!!
@@offroadrecoveryteam really? Wow. That's nice . I love your red Chevy. What's the spec's? I'm putting together an 85 f -150 ext cab . I put that body on a 1990 f-350 reg cab 4x4 chassis. It should be cool when I'm done.
He has various videos on his rigs specs As far as I know D60 front w custom single link on drivers side to reduce stress on frame while turning SBC w carb Th400 with 6.2 diesel torque converter Np205 14 bolt with custom lift blocks It's a great set-up
Im curious, does anyone know if the ratcheting sound you can hear, is a mechanical locking diff in the front end? Or am i just hearing stuff banging around the cab..
You mean the whole front frame support ripped off and took the grille, bumper, radiator support and other bits with it? No way ! That is scary Ford. really? Good job BSF, good joB!
Eric can you give me an idea of how many people actually tip you? I do recoveries here in So. Utah and people are so cheap I only get 1 maybe 2 out of 10 people that offer money.
That makes sense. I usually just get people unstuck. Although I wish they knew what a big tow company would charge them. Then they would see I'm saving them hundreds.
4 wheeling etiquette has always been help any one you find (when wheeling) that needs help, so other 4 wheelers will do the same for you when you need help. But if they call you to come out and help them... well that my be different.
@@offroadrecoveryteam she does fine. I get a 4 door long bed chevy Square body and was worried about off road. Nothing to awful. Jus pulling trailers and such into fields and whatnot. How do you like that Yukon locker by the wat
I guess I'm old-fashioned, it bothered me to see someone have so little regard for there own property, that they would mistreat the vehicle that way I can't help but think it has some reflection on the kind of person they are
most likely a $100 beater they slapped a poor man lift in and took er wheelin. there's a bazillion of them pos old fords out there that arent worth anything. it was probably a decent rig before the front clip got yanked out of it (thank the idiots at ford for the retardrdly weak frame and bumpers). im dure they hauled it home, yanked the good parts (axles lift & tires) and scrapped the rest and started on another fresh pos
Its probably could be street legal, I am guessing, he doesn't brother with tags and insurance, since he uses it on private property and doesn't charge for his services.
Garrett 20 there aren't really any benefits to having a diesel in the wrecker and all the extra weight is will cause it to get stuck more often. Its also hard to get a decent diesel in this generation chevy as well. pretty much the only option is the 6.2l which is very low horsepower and very heavy.
A newer wrecker, maybe. But, the diesels in those square bodies I don't think were that great. To stay with GM you'd basically have to get a Duramax which means computer and sensors. My opinion is that for an off-road truck the least wiring and no computer is the way to go. If you look at square bodies that were even 3/4 and 1 ton most of them just have a small block in them.
Put a bungee cord on put a bungee cord on both sides of your tow bar back to the bed of the truck and it will hold you tow bar straight when you get ready to hook up my name is GB
these videos were interesting in the realm of numbskulls that break their stuff miles from paved roads, and the ingenuity that it takes to recover the broke shit, but I cannot remain interested when the video stops every 3 minutes for an ad. where is the unsubscribe button
I've come here from watching Matt's Offroad Recover, Paul at Fab Rats, and Trail Mater.
Biggest difference is the mud and all the greenery.
The tow truck sure has some awesome traction. I'm always impressed in these videos.
Smooth and steady works everytime. He is damn good at wat he does. I enjoy watching him get out of situations,he don't give up.
nice shot of the tires at the beginning, your videos are awesome, keep them coming

I think trailmater and Matt's off-road recovery I think they both need to go there it would be good
This should be a TV show. I love it! Buying the shirt. I will be wearing it at my next gig!

You are a real Hero out there!
You've done plenty of Broke and plenty of Stuck but not enough F'ed. Nice video.
Be nice it's probably his daily with him being a Ford owner
Darn that looks like fun!!!
Thats a bad ass tow rig I really like the videos good jod thats for posting.
he got his artistry on to paint the sign that frees him from dragging it home,i guess he didn't have the heart to fix it in the end
They should have a drive thru crusher right near the trail shack so you can drop things like that one where they are going to end up anyway.
Let us know if it stays long at that "price"! I might have to send word to my stepcousins up there: )
if you had a small engine drive you could temp re weld the bumper on and make it much easier to tow...
Failed welds were what let go, and allowed the bumper to come off. I'm out there to get stuff off the trail and back to camp. If I can do that without making repairs on the trail, then that is what we do.
would you ever consider using scotch blocks on your wrecker? that would make a sweet "how to" vid

I'm curious, who pays this guy? The trail operators or event operators? Or does the owner of the stuck truck pay ?
No charge, just helping other 4 wheelers.

in earlier videos he explained what it was. it has something to do with his front driveshaft.
Thanks

Ryan_Greenwalt , you can see the cobbled up front "bumper" laying across the frame rails on back by the tool box.
Probably rotted so bad it was ready to fall off. Common problem if it lives in the rust belt
ive never done this, but maybe chain the 6x8 in place. love the vids
what kind of disc break conversation are u running on the back ,and how did u do the emergency break ?
he has a video of him building it, or shal I say rebuilding it.
Check out diy4x.
I hope the guy give you a good tip for this job.
He prob would turn down the tip from the looks of things they would need all the $ they can get after totalling a vehicle you'd think anyway
I be the ford doors still lined up the body lines after a beating, not like the Junkrolet
Did I see grease on the rear drive shaft, possibly from the pinion seal, on the wrecker at around 15:22, or was I seeing things?
Stain from hydro fluid, the control valve is right above, and seeps a little.
Free Ford.....Probably still sitting there to this day....Nice job... Eric and team

Is that a 350 in the wrecker? Any engine mods?

Was there no point to drop it and rehook from the rear? Or is that not worth the trouble?
Once we got to a area where that was possible, we were almost out, with what I would call easy trail the rest of the way.
Where is it you find so many cool trails
Check out the Memorial off-road event at www.memorial4x4.org
do u run a locker in the rear r the front
That's the most trashed rig I seen
I have to ask how much was the recovery
No charge from BSF
Were are these trails at?
how many people fit in that ford? jesus they are all walking? following it lol none of them have a rig? holy shit
Doesnt trail regulations say youre supposed to havepull points front & rear?
Yes, tow hooks were attacked to the bumper, the part that got pulled off of the frame.
What engine does that Ford have?
Can i ask why you use a sling and not a wheel lift wrecker
Wheel lift is too ridged for off-road terrain.
recoveryteam interesting never would hace thought that
What does your rig top the scales out
Over 9000#
@@offroadrecoveryteam she does fine. I get a 4 door long bed chevy Square body and was worried about off road. Nothing to awful. Jus pulling trailers and such into fields and whatnot. How do you like that Yukon locker by the wat
The Yukon works good, Just like a Detroit locker.
@@offroadrecoveryteam hows the on road proformance. Does it drive like a spool or an open diff. Ive hered mixed reviews

So amazing...
Looks like slave lake
Ahaha! Zip ties and bias plies!
Should of got an 86 Ford.
Why didn't you tow it out backwards?
We could have, but it is a maze of tight trails out there, and not many places to pass or turn around.
it's the owner nit the truck
It was only built Ford tough but Chevy will get it home
anybody else notice the broken bolt in the sling at 8:34
Probably couldn't afford to buy the parts to fix it, so just decided to give it away to someone who could 😂😂

U could have put a strap around the wood and the sling
Who would take such a ratted-out pile of zip ties out on the trail? But if it's got a decent Windsor in it, free is a deal.

is the wrecker street legal?
He's said in previous videos that it's not. He trailers it to events.
That's a subjective question, Where he's at? No, Where I'm at? If it has a title it is pretty much street legal.
Its probably could be street legal, I am guessing, he doesn't brother with tags and insurance, since he uses it on private property and doesn't charge for his services.
free is not a bad price, does it come with a title? lol.
The wrecker should be a diesel
