Threads has a posting API, so that functionality is possible. It would require a pretty significant rewrite/addition to the OmniTweet codebase to accommodate this. I'm not thrilled about that because X is far larger than Threads but doesn't allow similar functionality. At this point, it feels like OmniTweet can provide the most value in the form of serving as an alternative way of posting content to your own website. Theoretically, you could completely avoid the WordPress Admin once your OmniTweet environment was set up the way you wanted.
I would use this for site updates within my static home page if it could be embedded without the branding. Don't think I found a way to do this otherwise I would be using it!
Not sure what you mean re: branding. You can suppress the "Focus OmniTweet" toolbar with CSS. But if you're talking about all the references to "Tweet," that's a different story. I never built out a non-Twitter-focused version, but it's certainly something that *could* have been useful in hindsight. It'd probably take me a couple of days to strip out post-to-tweet functionality and change verbiage; I may do this at some point, but I dunno. More focused on the WP replacement project for now.
@@TheRealPearsonified Something like this that could be used as an updates feed would be useful (but not critical) in the new system, since I hope/assume you won't recreate traditional WP "posts".
@therealpersonified I can see great potential in this with businesses that do daily posts of their products - like I do via Instagram. This could be good. Very good.
@@BradBordessa Yep, no more posts. A silly distinction that only creates confusion and increases the amount of idiosyncrasies programmers and designers have to deal with when working with websites.
I wonder if the "omni feed" could post to my Instagram account (from my WP blog dashboard)? Any time I have used an Insta scheduler (even within the app) my posts don't do as well. I'm sad that blogs are dead...I love writing mine about my paintings each week.
This is deeply compelling.
Thanks, Chris. Looking forward to your new project. I love the idea of being able to post snippets.
Interesting vision...simpler and cleaner websites are the dream. However, so many "platforms" do too much
Watch this space, changes are coming. This is looking like an interesting project.
Oooh you said to ask if I really want it, and I really want it. Does it have potential to post to Threads?

Exciting news Chris!
Will the Omni Tweet box be updated soon so it will work on my Focus site? I have purchased the box a couple years ago.
Looking forward to seeing your project. No need to replace WP; it’s not a big loss. Would you mind sharing the tech stack you’re planning to use?
PHP + JS + HTML + CSS. The idea is it will run seamlessly on every minimally-equipped apache server on the planet. Maximum ubiquity.

I've been banned aka permanently suspended on six Twitter/X accounts. The struggle is real! Sounds like you're onto something good, Chris.
Damn...I've been thinking of this for 2 years. I better hurry up.
