The Holy Moment is the present moment.
When we live lives of distraction we cannot live lives of wonder or joy or holiness. Distraction steals life away because it takes us away from the present moment. And the present moment is the only moment that has the potential to be a holy moment.

I did this today...took a walk outside. I took my phone for security purposes (I didn't look at the phone, though) and left my garmin in my bedroom...I just walked and enjoyed the beauty all around.
Sometimes I feel like that's almost art. And with lent right around the corner, imagine how holy we will all feel after the airplane mode/ flip phone life for 40 days?
I usually listen to podcasts on walks to learn something…and, sometimes I just keep the phone tucked away.
I run two businesses from my phone, so it’s staying on. Haha.

Thanks!
I was touched by your sermon, Father. I took away that God is active and here. I am very old and have trouble focusing. I get so distracted always. But, now I will smile at everything and think…God is showing off…again. Thank you.
A lot of people have been touched by priests.........
AmericanDream how is anything in this sermon unholy at all? Literally give me one example bro
Kevinkelly shut up bro. To label all priests as pedos is like labeling all whites as racists. The priests who have done despicable and horrific things in the past will be judged accordingly but to joke about the evil is exactly what the devil wants
Thank you so much Fr. Mike for so many " Holy moments" from your spiritual homilies! I will pray a rosary for thanksgiving for you answering the call to the priesthood.
Fr. Mike is such a blessing.🙏🙏🙏
The rosary is of pagan origins.
Moment of Wonder! 😃
I just want to say: Thank you Fr. Mike and God bless you! Your homilies light the way for all of us who are lost.
Best sermon of the day! I listen to several homilies over the weekend, and this was tops! Thanks, Fr Mike, for opening our eyes to the beauty of Jesus in our lives...you are a blessing!
I walked for half an hour, paying no attention to my phone, and only listened to the waves as I walked on the beach. Thank you, Fr. Mike Schmitz, for your inspiration.
I look forward to Monday evenings every week listening to you Father Mike! It is the ultimate start to my week ! Thank you and God Bless you!
THANK YOU Father Mike! One of the LEGENDARY BESTEST, Simplest and Most AWESOMELY POWERFUL Teachings EVER in the History of Mankind! 🤩 🙏❤️ ✝️ EVERYONE globally needs to hear this right now!
My 13yo grandson called me outside last evening to see the setting sun and sky. Against the backdrop of blue was the most magnificent colours of pink, orange and yellow amongst swirling clouds. We both stood there and talked about the importance of noticing the beauty around us. For a kid that loves screen time, I was proud that he recognised the simple act of looking up can give us the most beautiful moments.
That’s great , li like hearing that .
Amen! So many people take an event like that for granted.
As someone with attention deficit disorder, this homily is important.
Fr. Mike is so right. We are living in the most distracted time in history. It starts with the phone. Abandon the phone once in a while. It does not have legs to run away. God bless!
One time I was truly astonished with wonder was riding my bicycle along the beach on Hilton Head Island at low tide, the colors of the sunset in the sky behind me, a full supermoon rising in front of me, riding under the moon. Brought me to tears thanking God for his creation. Thank you for your very inspiring homily today, Fr. Mike. We need to be astonished more often with the moments, and learn to be less distracted.
This morning I took a picture of the sunrise which was glorious and the full moon. What a moment! Thank you, Jesus.❤
It's easy to be distracted and not appreciate each moment
Ordinary moments are holy moments ❤
This is so true. Distractions can be turned into holy moments. Let’s remember to give our distractions to Our Lord.
A much needed message. I tend to get itritated when prayer/quiet time is interrupted. I work 60 hours a week caregiving so its not always easy to shift things around- my weekend schedule specifically is dictated by my niece with special needs and my great pyranees. It's a skill to be able to shift when u feel your time is jam packed. God appreciates intention
Father your so amazing! Ty, God bless you!
Today I am changing my way of being in life in prsence of God! Thank you Father Mike!!! God bless!!! ❤🎉
❤❤❤❤❤❤
So good!
Father Mike thank you for sharing your beautiful faith, God bless you
Thank you Father Mike. God bless you.
Matthew 23:9
“And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.”
Thanks Father Mike for a very insightful homily today. I did indeed stop the distractions today and spent some time with God.
Thank you again for an excellent homily!
Such a beautiful message today. Thank you, Father Mike.
I love this challenge. I was literally looking up other things while watching this video.
I want to experience the beauty of God's creation through nature
I pray for peace that surpasses all understanding 🙏♥️
Wow! This message is a blessing. Thank you Father Mike and thanks be to God. May God continue to bless you and all our priests and the clergy.
Ordinary moments have the capacity of Holy Moments. The Holy Moment is the present moment..God is here, the Present Moment is His..The question is...Am I here at this moment?...Fr.Mike..Thankyou so much for the powerful inspiring homily...You are awesome and amazing indeed...May God bless you abundantly in your priestly ministry..PTL 🎉
Hi, Father Mike. You mentioned The Power of Now, and I immediately returned to when I read the book and practiced being present. I had a fantastic year where I was present with everything I did, down to the most minor activity. Even washing my hands. I was unbothered by trivial things such as traffic, rude individuals, etc. I had so much patience and calm in my life. At that time, I was not as close to God as I am now, but maybe I was close to him in a different way. I speak in the past tense because after that one year of practicing being present, I slowly reverted to being distracted. Being present takes work. It is something one actively does and practices. It is worth it! It is a beautiful feeling and something I strive for now. Thank you for speaking about this and reminding me how special it is to be present. 🙏
Thank you Fr. Mike🙏🏾 The holy moment is indeed the present moment❤
This is the MOST beautiful realization. Thank you, Fr Mike.
In my day it was 'Stop and smell the Roses' because people were so focused on their objectives and never lived life. It wasn't RUclips calling it was the pursuits of success in school, or career or whatever you decided was your thing. People raced thru the journey and never lived the important parts of life like their kids, wife, even their own health. Holiness is not just an objective its also the journey.
Father Mike continues to speak on the very thing I was just thinking of. ❤
AMEN! Can relate!
Always love your messages. God bless you Father Mike ❤
Beautiful, thank you…..❤
Thank you, Father. I really needed this wake up call today
God bless you!! You re so needed!!🙏
I agree that distractions are one of the greatest problems of today.
We are so,blessed to have Fr Mike. May God continue to bless him ❤️
Invitation accepted Fr. Mike🙏😇
I am astonished there is truth to your homily about holiness. That “I am able to walk in this world with wonder”!
Every morning on my way to work I would always gaze up in the sky and marvel at the beauty of the sun painting the sky just as it slowly comes out of the horizon of the desert of Arabia.
I would always whisper a thank you to Jesus for the inner joy that chases away the loneliness within me by just looking at the beauty of God’s creation- and experience holiness.
I thank God for you Fr. Mike for being a part of my journey of faith.
God bless you!
Thank you Fr. Mike for reminding me about being present in the holy moments. I use to often sit and just watch the sky, listen to the ocean, listen to the birds sing and just be surrounded by nature all around me. I would think this beauty was made by God for me to enjoy. In these moments it was so easy to praise, adore God, to glorify God and to appreciate God for this beautiful picture he painted before me in nature. When we get bogged down with the stresses in life we forget about the simple things like waking up to the song birds outside your window and thinking to myself what a beautiful gentle way God woke me up this morning with a beautiful song. It's a good challenge I hope to fulfill this week. Thanks be to God for you. You are his apostle spreading His message. Thank you being a good Sheppard and gathering his sheep.
perfection! God's word is always on time. Thank you again Father Mike for this glorious message!
Southcentral Texas: USA 🇺🇸 😇: btw: Sincere Greetings 🫂: Thought 💭 ; thank- you’s and May aALmighty GOD BLess : in thanksgiving
This is applicable to so many things. I have a therapist appt with my sister today and I'm nervous but after hearing this I'm feeling much better
Fr. Mike, this was an amazing homily. Thank you for being present to His message he wanted you to give to us!
Thank you - very good sermon.
Love being in nature and with God.
I remember as a child “just being there” 💖. I Keep trying to just “be there”. Thank you for this perfect message. I am praying for you, please pray for me 🙏🏼
Thank you!
This is so great!!!!
I have holy moments alone but have to bring them into
my life as a caretaker
Another present homily Father!!
The earthly life works like this....and if you foster love and it is not understood...quickly turn away!
It's interesting that the secular world refers to holy moments as " mindfulness." I prefer to view these times as God- centered moments.
If your feeling to rush off while being where your supposed to be these are like bodies without brains,
They're called grey, they fade to grey,
God has His favourites. Many people are born into privilege, wealth and opportunity at His whim. Most who wouldn't give God a second thought. While others, many who believe in God are born into poverty, persecution, incredible heartbreak etc are spurned by Him. Loving, just God?
“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.
Thank you, Fr Mike. I needed to hear this!! God bless you 😊
love this~ thank you Father Mike~ This is something I realize that I need to do more frequently. Just be with God, is silence. Just be with God in the moment not worrying about capturing the moment, not worrying about the to do list. that list is always going to be there and thinking about it isn't going to make it go away. God's Glory is all around us in a thousand small realities everyday. We just have to recognize them.
❤ thank you, Fr. Mike. 🙏✝️
I like the definition/distinction of an interruption and distraction.
Also, I take a picture of the sunrise or sunset every day so that I can post it, but sometimes I want to have more time to enjoy it
I love you Father. May you be blessed 🙏🏻♥️
Thank you Father
Thank you Fr Mike for the beautiful homily❤
Wow. I just put this homily in my Favorites RUclips playlist.
Thank you father Mike .
Please pray for my family and myself tyvm
Amen. 🙏
But despite a weird title I must admit it was useful thank you :).
Thank you 🙏❤️
A great app to help limit distractions on your phone is screenzen.
I live in NYC, it’s hard to find a silent moment. I’ve grown accustomed and enjoy waking up super early just to have a quiet 30 minutes to myself so I can listen to A Bible in a Year and to pray. On Saturdays I try to wake up even earlier to go on a quiet walk
I went to Saturday mass yesterday in Visalia California at St. Mary, after the confession, I am not sure who the Father was, but that was best homily Ive heard in my life, about fighting evils of the world, it was really moving and giving me hope, kinda same premise about how we should be focused
I went to church the other day and the young priest who is like a first-year priest because they moved my priest of 33 years away he wanted everyone to know because we didn't kneel and show enough respect to the Eucharist but what he doesn't understand is most of these people have had joint replacements knee replacements and they just can't kneel he was trying to go to everybody in the kneeling and I could see the pain in a lot of the people there and he said isn't that beautiful. I myself fell off the back of a truck and hurt my knee just recently I gave him one knee that's all I could handle. We were also weeks ago called by a filling priest that we were not welcoming enough to the immigrants coming into this country because we got some to come to mass and they wouldn't come back and he was insinuating that we were racist and not welcoming enough. I know some of these spanish-speaking people they live in my apartment complex they didn't come back because they can't understand the language. Some priests assume too much. You know people that didn't come back to church because we were being considered racist. a good distraction from our holy moment.
❤️🏴
Beautiful.

I need a ride this weekend, and im thinking if you could pick me up to go to my destination. I would appreciate your help and I would repay your kindness. Please and thank you.
Yes, that is why using one’s phone while driving is illegal in most places. The metaphor is apt; however, you can do all of the wonderful things mentioned without worshiping a human being as a deity. ❤
Worshipping happens daily, and depression can cloud our wonder
I wonder-who is the human being you’re referring to?
🕯💞💖✨️🙏
Get off your phones people and enjoy real life. Its amazing

Fr. Mike I need advice with what I'm going through right now
Farther Mike,
Another factor, that needs to take to account in distracted driving is one refutable fact is that American cars are made & tested for the safety and survival of the people in the vehicle while European cars, (example: German cars) are designed and tested for the safety and survival for both the driver& passenger in the car & pedestrians, bicyclers and scooters out of the vehicle. Just look at the European cars the front is shorter and lower, the driver seat is higher, and the bumper is made of another material than American cars. It is done this way so the driver can see better ,small things and people on tricycle, bicycles, pedestrians etc....
If it doesn't pass the bicycle and pedestrian test , the objective is that both the people in the car & pedestrian, bicycler, scooter etc... must survive the accident. If they don't, it's back to the drawing board and they won't pass it and go to production line until they do.
They should do that here.
DO WE ALL COMPREHEND THIS UNFORTUNATE BOY, Yes WE CAN SEE HIM BUT HE CAN'T SEE ANYONE,
Oh, is this the area and people that don't talk with him anymore,
I need your help
Anonymous ninja good deeds= time
I knew a parallel version of you in my 20s. You in Micheal hutchence culture club?
Sir...my dog is named for this..."Oggi". Means TODAY
I just can't. two watches on both hands, why? :) Is it some new def of luxury? :D
Maybe they could transfer him to a better church. The north church we'll transfer him to.
PLEASE slow down when you speak. Thank you! ❤
🕯💞💖✨️🙏Try this. Tap the video. Click the gear icon. Choose the playback speed. Change it from normal to any speed you want. If you are not sure how to do it, hopefully someone can help you or you can look up a tutorial on RUclips. Search how to change the playback speed of a video on whatever kind of phone you have. Hope this helps.
If that idea is technically challenging, just hit pause as you listen and stop to process a chunk. Then hit play again and pause if you need to. This works for me!
The greatest lie of the devil is ....holiness is not within all mankind, no matter the grave nature of the sin...it means all of humanity (Grinch/freemason/occult) can change the next "DAY" ( because we are only given the day to live) and if you agree to the covenant of the father, the unity of mankind, the love of a fallen brother...your family...if you aid in these fallen people you are saved in a sense...don't expect money...expect more hardship for doing what is right!
I don't get the part at about 17:30 where you said something about a generation that never rebound anything (?)
I think he said never rewound anything, like a VHS or cassette tape.
