That plaintive call, the burrowing, posing, wanting to cuddle-up it seems. He loves you William and took you to see family. This whole experience was very special. You are special, William. Thanks so much.
Freakin' amazing in so many respects... The birds themselves and their being utterly unafraid of your presence. The weather and background scenery. The photography. And, of course, a down jacket, knit cap, and... shorts! 😂😂
Beautiful images. Being able to get that close with a wild animal is a real privilege - not surprised you were close to tears. When it's happened to me, my reaction is the same. Fantastic focus- stacked images showing the bird in it's environment.
What the!!!! Yeah ya can’t put that kind of experience and encounter into words. I love their call!!! So beautiful. Here’s to this who work hard to look after them and the habitats that sustain them.
That's amazing. As someone who likes to get some landscape in my wildlife shots I'm so inspired! Thank you for showing such respect and care for the kea.
Wow, wow, wow, so awesome to be with nature like that. We climbed up Avalanche Peak a few years back and had some great encounters with Keas up there but not at lot of snow as in your shots. The snow plus fantastic light just made your shots pop ! Cheers
Thanks mate! They leave an impression don’t they. I was so stoked with that fresh snow. Incredibly rare especially with the light and visible peaks behind. Cheers 👊🏻
I did fell asleep... but woke up and watched it 😂. What a cute little wonder.... and the landscape behind is just wow. Now I understand why you move to New Zealand. Beautiful indeed trying to incorporate wildlife into landscapes... amazing images. Cheers and thanks for another great video.
This is awesome! Never heard of them before. They were really enjoying your company. and using a wide angle lens-what a fantastic perspective. So well done. And love how you love them:)
Hello William, thank you for all of your lovely videos and pics I love watching them, your doing a great job. Amazing is how close you get get to these birds and how much they must trust you. Greetings from Germany Michael
Wow, that’s awesome! That takes the landscape photos to a whole new level. I’m surprised they’re so unafraid and get so close to people. That’s probably at their own peril since a lot of people won’t have that kind of respect for them.
Omg so amazing !!!! You were talking about getting more images of them and now it happened !!! So special Will ….ps. I did smile wondering if one was ‘Arthur’ 😂 so happy for you !!
That's so amazing! How do you handhold focus stack so fast? Doesn't the focus point need to change with each shot? Is there a setting in camera to alter the focal point between shots? I know there's a way to do that for HDR to change exposure but wasn't sure if there's a way to do that with focus points.
Thanks mate. Yeah the newer models have a focus stack feature where it will shift the focus point for you between frames. Really handy. You can do it handheld without that feature though, no worries at all.
I had a special encounter with a few kea too: They ate the windscreen wiper blades and pulled the rubber protector strip off the bumper of my hire car. Little buggers.
Absolutely awesome video Will, the best. I have been waiting to see what came out of your Kea experience since you mentioned something about Keas recently in a different video... my ears caught that. I seriously don't think it could have been better , wow. Fantastic landscape, charming and obliging subjects, inspirational results, entertaining production, and a skilled tutor. I will go look at the prints. Is it time for a book yet? Or a calendar? I would order a book for sure, probably both.
Awesome dude! Loved the video, im very interested to hear about your camera settings and how you focus stack so quickly and are able to blend them together with the birds moving
Incredible experience. These are gorgeous birds, I love them like you do! Just wondering how you focus stack in handheld mode like that? I've only understood that you usually need a tripod?
Ah mannnn so cool an experience! I wish I’d tried when I was there! Idiot haha anyhoooo I’ve just done a zoom where I departed knowledge 😯 basically just nicked your theory so cheers! 😁
Wow Will your models were so co operative l could only dream of such images. As necessary as the tags are it does sort of take away from the fact they wild birds
That just made the hairs stand up on my arms!! Such a special time - how good are those resulting portfolio images!! Mate!!!!
Thanks Leanne! You know exactly how difficult it is, haha.
