And what are you going with? The orqas or somthing else? I am also looking for an upgrade so I am open to recomendations, I am still using analog but in the future I want to move on to digital, this is why I am thinking of orqa pilot
It's a weird upgrade. The only new thing is the focus adjust but the FOV is reduced. Digital module can connect on HDMI then you can use on any goggle.
Very good info here! Loved my Orqas and DJI. Waited for their HD for quite a while. Bardwell does his goggle and rx comparisons with GoPro's in the goggles. In case that helps.
I went from Doninator SE with 50 degree FOV to HDO because of the OLED screen, but I didn’t care for the smaller size. I went from HDO to Orqa v1 because of the bigger size again, and would have probably upgraded to these as well if they keep the same size, but 37degree is a dealbreaker for me.
I’m waiting to see how the HDzero goggles perform before I make the upgrade. I really hope you get a set of HDzero cause you’ll give us the best review on how we evolve in FPV. Thanks again for the great info we always look forward to your new videos.
Pretty sure you can buy an upgraded DVR for your skyzones, if you dont mind pulling them apart! I am fairly sure that the new digital system will in fact be compatible with the old goggles, through HDMI?
Both fatshark HDO and HDO2 allow for shark byte module. And works today 😃. Great review but Orqa haven't been around that long and already upgrading.... 🤑
I have seen some videos from Joshua Bardwell where he uses a Gopro to get a view inside the goggles. Of course, even then, it is not exactly the same as wearing them on your face, but I feel like it did a good job.
I was on the train.. then I saw the FOV... and since I'm using DJI 54 degrees for 90% of my flying... 37 degrees just seems too small for my occasional analog usage.
And if the dji fov is to much we can shrink it. I don’t suspect to many with dji goggles will be interested. If the their hd fpv has something amazing to offer it could change things
Iv been waiting so long for these goggles.. IDK if I'm going to pull that trigger with that FOV 🤔 🤷♂️🤦♂️ Nice review nick was hoping for some dvr footage 🙏
I would like to show it but the issue is being able to show it with any sort of clarity. I did show one of my three attempts in the upper left corner early last n the video
That is awesome that you are using the original Orqa goggles as your daily driver goggles, the video does look very nice from these goggles and is great for DVR too like you said. If the additional connector on the pilot goggles is intended for a digital fpv attachment/module, that will be pretty cool! The exterior features on the pilot goggles do look a lot cleaner and revised. Being able to adjust the focal distance now alongside the distance between the lenses is definitely a great feature for a wider range of people than before. The new fan system is definitely a lot quieter which is awesome. Thanks for your take on this new iteration of the Orqa goggeles, we will definitely have to wait and see what happens with the digital hd system!
I would have gone with V1 if it had focal adjustment but it didn’t. Didn’t know I needed it until I got my HDO2s. Guess I’ll wait for V3. Slapping an HD module on top of that nice design seems ungainly but time will tell. Great review. Thank you.
yea, it seems as though the hd fpv came after these were at some phase of development. I to am surprised they didn't wait to include the new fpv system.
To show the difference between the optics in my HD2's and the optics in Olympus video glasses I used a Xiaomi Yi sportcam, you can see the footage yourself called "Freeform prism vs traditional lens in video glasses & goggles ", where I can get the sportcam as close to the goggle lenses as my own eyes to see the picture clearly.
@@NickBurnsFPV That footage also shows you how good freeform prism lenses are, how your eye doesn't have to be in a precise position to see the picture clearly, the 'sweet spot' is huge compared to traditional lenses.
My HDO's are now 3 years old and today I had a blackout while setting up a quad. Not funny if you got just a boxed goggle as a backup...trusty EV800D. IF I'm into buying new goggles I would be very interested in the Orqas since the HDZero stuff is coming closer to what I want for my micros. That's just my 2 cents for helping the algorithm 😁
I hope they follow through with the statement at CES that they also want to get the HDZero receiver to connect through that special port. Which, the "leaked" image from CES, their HD solution as it stands looks like a HDZero receiver with an Orqa designed shell.
What are you doing now with your old one? And btw for your cam Problem... Joshuar Bardwell does it with some 3D Printed Mount that holds the cam perfectly...
I don’t know exactly what I am going to do with the old set. I tend to giveaway fpv stuff I am not using or flying. Could end up there but it could be awhile. Want to use the new ones more and see what else might come of them
The Orqas are a tough one to choose right now. The goggles look awesome but the reduction in FOV is putting many off. It’s always going to be hard on a manufacture if they go backwards in a spec like this from where they were before. Honestly I think Orqa should have continued the V1 and also released the Pilots and given people the option. Everyone I have spoken to in the end is recommended the Skyzone and while they have not been faultless they do tick the most boxes right now. There is apparently a new V3 DVR too for the 04X as well. Overall I so wanted these but was disappointed in the spec as most of my flying these days is digital and that FOV just won’t cut it.
Yes I tend to agree on all points. Now about this v3 dvr for the sky zone googles. Can you tell me more or link to some additional information? I have looked at buying the v2 dvr but haven’t heard or seen a v3. I am not crazy about opening the goggles. 🤷🏻♂️ worries I will break them
Nice review as always. As we are transitioning to digital I feel that these analogue goggles are overpriced and should have the digital receivers built in for the price. Either make due in what you have or go DJI depending what type of FPV'r you are. Thanks
I don’t, but I am a micro guy so long range flight is very very rare. I bought them to try them out and didn’t notice enough change to make a video but have continued to use as I have it and it is long to get above my head
How do you find that gnb battery? I tried one on my attv6, with tbs fusion, and found it wouldn't last a half hour. Plus would give me less than a minute warning before shut off. (18650s will beep for 5+ minutes) have been wondering if the tbs is pulling too much power for it, or I just got a bad batt. Great job as always!
I have a few of them. two of them no longer show fully charged on the led gauge, but they seem to work fine. I have not spent much time with the tbs module. I can't comment on that experience.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks! I get a couple of hours off of 18650's of the same mAh rating, and the led goes straight down to 60% then won't go lower on the gnb. So I'm probably going to chock it up to a faulty battery or internal wiring on it. Great review of the Orqas!
You should try using spare FPV camera and manually adjust its focus to record something inside goggles. Most of them can be adjusted a lot to see clearly, like from the point within the lens to infinite distance
@@heyjackfpv5469 I don't use a mic off the goggles. I have tried a few they either don't work at all or the sound wasn't good enough to replace the cell phone recording.
I have ORQA's there is no way i could purchase "a second set of future proof googles" without proof of features and longer feature support time frame. I also brought the fpv connect, it's still don't do anything except update firmware to the googles and of course there is no firmware to update, Steaming to social media was a promise that never came through (unless you count friendface as social media) they don't work with elrs backpack, Yet we were told this cpu could do many things, Either way very disappointed in ORQA
If I download videos from RUclips orqa won't take them so only official videos I guess. Just want to experience how it looks it's very frustrating not able to play with my new toy
A few years ago. I saw another youtuber Unfortunately I can’t remember his channel or name. But he got himself a foam mannequin head. And dug a hole through the back of the head that lined up with the eye socket. And mounted a small good quality camcorder in the empty eye socket. Admittedly looking a little creepy. I think he even gave it a name. But he could then mount different goggles consistently. Making a pretty good comparison tool for different goggles. I’m pretty sure it helped me make my decision to buy my first goggles.
I see they still haven't managed to make the receiver cover fit properly. I (mostly) love my original Orqa goggles but I have a lot of frustration with the company. They never acknowledged the ground loop fault that destroyed audio recording in the originals. Perhaps nobody cared? You couldn't/can't record audio without a hideous buzzing sound. I provided a fix for this months ago but it never really caught on.
Nice thorough review thanks. You mentioned who would want these. I have always wanted a pair of orqas but was always out of my price range. I did happen to get ahold of some Eachine 300o goggles and love them. The dvr is the only drawback to me. I've wanted orqas and still do but I didn't know you had to buy the receiver still, so that's a drawback for the orqas, makes it even more expensive. I think I should just be happy with what I've got. I've been wondering though could I get a super good separate dvr like in a monitor and just use that for my footage? Is there such a thing?
You can get the Immersion RC Powerplay DVR. Or you can look for a deal on a used set of Fatshark Scout (the original Scout, not the Scout HD) goggles and use them as your DVR. The DVR in the original Scout goggles is exactly the same DVR that's in the Powerplay.
@@sganzerlag yeah good looking out. I know the Scout has a good dvr and obviously I didn't think of that. Glad you told me about the HD version because I didn't know there was one and my way of thinking is HD is better, I probably would have gone that route. I'll definitely be looking thanks.
@@NickBurnsFPV do you know how many fps the Eachine 300o has? I thought it's 20 or 25 or something. It's not a terrible dvr but I know there's better out there
@@NickBurnsFPV I see they're 30fps. The fatshark scout looks like it has 60fps I could use that dvr if I find a good deal. I found some for $80 actually but they were sold 4 days ago just my luck lol. Anyway thanks for the great info. You are so smart.
I wouldn't think normal glasses would fit, lenses are pretty much needed if vision correction is needed, not all vision impairments need lenses, I don't use anything.
@@allentituspaz3241 I leave my goggle batteries charged. Not good for their health, but I fly so much and when i do have a battery get low I swap it out.
Hey what is the measurement of the goggles across the faceplate? are the new ones wider? i never got the orignal orqas because the sides of the googles lined up with the corner of my eyes.
@@NickBurnsFPV actually the dji leak alot of light by the nose for me. I use a set of modified fatshark hd3 at the moment. I may just have to go hdo2 but I think I'm going to wait as long as I can to see what comes out. I think there's gonna be a lot of new full digital things in the next year or so.
The 30fps dvr of not only skyzone v1 and fatshark goggles is closer to 25fpv, and they are inconsistent, dropping to 24 and up to 26fps, which when syncing to audio makes it nearly impossible to get an entire 3min flight to sync up. As to a visual difference, when its recording consistent fps, no, nothing that I can see, but when its inconsistent yet. The orqa dvr is consisten 50fps, even though its marketed as 60fps
@@NickBurnsFPV good thing about skyzone is that there is a dvr kit update. I have Sky04x and have been thinking on upgrade the DVR. I may! Since is tiny whoop racing season! By the way, I did a DIY update of the fan of the Sky04x with a generic fan from amazon, and it got rid almost completely of noise issue. Awesome job of your review of the Orqa Pilot! 5G mobile digital system sounds like an amazing future with the Orqas!
What would be a good bnf drone that I could use to connect to my dji goggles that came with my the fpv dji kit is that even possible as I don't want to have all kinds of radios goggles etc . Like to fly other fpv drones and don't want to crash my 1200 dollars any help would be greatly appreciated thanks. Nice vid ✌
Just go on get fpv or race day quads and search dji bind and fly and you should see a few good options. Iflight and Diatone and Hglrc make good drones. And you need to look for a radio. They have new ones and a couple of older ones that come at good price. Since you starting you should get express lrs since its the new standard and its getting better.
@@Sylo2Nice i think he mean that he has the dji drone so he will need everything he need to fly a regular fpv quad except the goggles because it will work. That’s what i meant
@@Twx97 yea, he wants to buy a bind and fly since he already has the goggles. What i was recomending was a few good options on quads to buy from manufactors that usually have good quality like even gep-rc and the others I mentioned in my first comment.
@@Sylo2Nice dude thanks yes I'd need a drone and radio id figure that would.be better than crashing my dji fpv I know that's what I'd do . I don't have a computer so I'm hoping for a limited investment since the dji sim isn't supported for Android I don't play video games so I was starting way behind the norm thanks for your time I will look into that and if I have any questions can I get your input ?✌️
Hey, I just came into this hobby and flew around with my drone and now its time to get a goggle. Analog will be surely the thing for most of my quads but I also plan to build a digital one on my own. I am a fan of the full experience. What would be the best choice? Getting the DJI v2 goggles with the rapidfire module or just buy an analog goggle first? I am actually looking at the Skyzone Sky04x v2. And if its the Skyzone, are there any nice must have adapters? Could someone who may got some experience help me with this decision please? :)
It comes down to budget and if you want dedicated goggles. I think most with DJI/Vista quads have the required dji goggles buy an analog adapter and module like the tbs fusion or rapidfire. We can add dji compatibility to analog goggles. :(
@@NickBurnsFPV first of all thank you for your response. Well if there is no big difference I would surely take the dji goggles and get the rapid-fire analog adapter for it. But if analog goggles are surely a step ahead of the Dji analog mod then I would buy a good analog one and the dji will come later. But that there are so many possibilities with those goggles I am not even sure what's the best choice and how to maximize the goggles capabilities.
@@NoBrainerNuggets I wouldn't say the dji goggles with analog adapter are a step ahead, but it does seem to be what many who fly dji and some analog have gone to. I think there is a large convenience factor in having one goggle rather than two and some that do fly dji only fly analog in the case of whoop or micros. I suspect it comes down to what we thing we will fly the most and how much we have or are willing to spend. I am an odd case making videos so I have goggles that are dedicated to both, but I primarily fly analog as dji isn't super micro friendly.
@@NickBurnsFPV you misunderstood me a bit but it's fine. You said something important and my thought is that I mainly gonna fly analog, more micros and I also plan to freestyle. Therefore I think now it's set that I should get the analog goggles first and buy the dji until I go for digital. Do you have recommendations actually? Is the Sky04x v2 a good choice? Fov is a matter, that's why orqa isn't on my list. And could / should I get any worthy adapters for it to improve the quality?
@@NoBrainerNuggets I think the skyzone is likely the best bang for the $$. It comes with a module unlike most and that is where we can save. It has a 60fps dvr, but its not perfect over the course of a longer flight if syncing to flight audio like I do for the videos I make, but otherwise its very very good. I don't think adapters will be worth the cost, get good antenna like the truerc or axii antenna. that is the best "upgrade" needed. We will need a battery for them as well. Most use the 2s 3000mah goggle battery, there are many in this sector, imho they are pretty much all the same.
Have you tried one of the cheap ear camera things that appear on Chinese websites a lot? Pretty sure they’re not much advertised in the west as they’re dangerous as hell. Must be hated by Ear, Nose and Throat surgeons. The focal length is really short and I suspect they are only 720p but it’d probably work. There are also the DIY endoscope ones but the focal length tends to be poorer. Both have lights but the light intensity is variable in both. If you haven’t tried then I will find my one and have a look at my Eachine ?200Ds.
lol, I have not tried an "ear camera". I am trying again with some tips from the comments. So far my results are mixed, but I will work on it some more yet tonight.
@@NickBurnsFPV saw your newer video. Much better than an ear cam. Too narrow a FOV on an ear cam. If you want to highlight one specific feature worth considering though.
Until Orqa's new digital FPV system is revealed and how the integration works, these goggles are just v2 of the original. BTW, "future proof" implies perpetuity, which is oxymoronic with technology. IMO. Does anyone remember "vaporware?"

A Rigid-Flex PCB assembly is what I’d expect the HD modules to be.
I’m waiting to see how the HDzero goggles perform before I make the upgrade. I really hope you get a set of HDzero cause you’ll give us the best review on how we evolve in FPV. Thanks again for the great info we always look forward to your new videos.
That is likely a wise decision. The hdzero goggles look ridiculous on paper
Orqa demonstrated the port on top at CES. Joe Minty has a video
just an fyi, from what i understand and hear is that the new orca hd vrx will be compatible with the original fpv.ones. great review
Agree 100%, and indeed any of them are better than the fatsharks for sure!
Great review!
IDK if I'm going to pull that trigger with that FOV 🤔 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Nice review nick was hoping for some dvr footage 🙏
Dvr of flying or dvr of the menus and internal settings?
Flying
I c an do that as well. I thought most would want a still image to view
That would be awesome 👌
Using the race-mode - is there additional latency because the image is proceed in different way/extra scaling filter etc?
Thanks for this quick look!
Could we see some in goggle footage ( GoPro or phone) to compare the new and old screen sizes?
Interesting design choice to have visible screws in the top of a goggle at this price point, maybe that's how the HD system will mount.
To show the difference between the optics in my HD2's and the optics in Olympus video glasses I used a Xiaomi Yi sportcam, you can see the footage yourself called "Freeform prism vs traditional lens in video glasses & goggles
", where I can get the sportcam as close to the goggle lenses as my own eyes to see the picture clearly.
I will have to take a look. I never thought of using a smaller camerA
@@NickBurnsFPV That footage also shows you how good freeform prism lenses are, how your eye doesn't have to be in a precise position to see the picture clearly, the 'sweet spot' is huge compared to traditional lenses.
the HDMI on the v1 means it is future proof and orqa have said the V1 will support digital going forward
regarding the retrofit, I believe they already said the vaporware hd receiver will plug into the hdmi input on the old goggles
Lol vaporware. Really seems strange to go the hdmi route. Almost as though the google design was well ahead of the hd vtx
For the cameras into the goggles, Joshua Bardwell or Bob Roogi posted a video some time ago on how they use a gopro camera to compare FOV
How do they keep it all still while manipulating the menus?
Do kidneys grow back? Asking for a friend 😆
Only Smurf kidneys grow back 🤣
Props!
Idea for filming the screens - disassemble the goggle, and film the screen directly using a microscope or any macro capable camera.
yea, not all that viable to pull the goggles apart.
Yep, I would say your position fits into the interested and now needing new googles. They are nice and available.
I believe Orqa will have a retrofit item similar to the item they showed during CES to add SharkByte into their goggles.
That’s a bit surprising to me. Open the door to competitors uses. Very interesting
Great review as always. I'm very interested in Orqa goggles. the 1st reason is the design the 2nd is skyzone's quality issues.
Hey Nick where can I get that long antenna on your goggles? Looks really cool. Great review 👍🙏👍🙏👍🙏
It’s a double mushroom axii from getfpv.com
Waiting for mine to come in today.
They are nice goggles. As per a Wow factor I didn’t get that. Rather an iteration
I hope they follow through with the statement at CES that they also want to get the HDZero receiver to connect through that special port. Which, the "leaked" image from CES, their HD solution as it stands looks like a HDZero receiver with an Orqa designed shell.
we shall see.....sometime :)
🤷🏻♂️ worries I will break them
Hi Nick, I think you can get an upgrade module for the Sky04x to make it a v2
I have looked at that. I should just pull the trigger and buy it. Not crazy about opening the goggles 😂
Nice review as always. As we are transitioning to digital I feel that these analogue goggles are overpriced and should have the digital receivers built in for the price. Either make due in what you have or go DJI depending what type of FPV'r you are. Thanks
Do you find the Lumenier Double AXII 2 Long Range antennas (the ones with two mushrooms) to be noticeably better than antennas with just one mushroom?
I don’t, but I am a micro guy so long range flight is very very rare. I bought them to try them out and didn’t notice enough change to make a video but have continued to use as I have it and it is long to get above my head
@@NickBurnsFPV Ah I see. Thank you Nick
Well the big question is how is the HD system gonna be like AND will it work with HDZero!!
That is a big question. There could be a feature via firmware they introduce with their hd fpv that could change the way I see the goggles
The fan in your originals sounds like it's shot. I had the same defect and they took care of it.
I have heard good things about support, should have noted that. 🤦♂️
You should try using spare FPV camera and manually adjust its focus to record something inside goggles. Most of them can be adjusted a lot to see clearly, like from the point within the lens to infinite distance
That is a good idea. I have found a runcam 4K camera that I could get in there and get a respectable image. I need to review that footage more closely
your videos are the best . do you mind sharing what microphone are you using for external audio with the orqa goggles ? link ?
The microphone is actually an old cell phone. Samsung galaxy 6 😁
@@NickBurnsFPV hahaha, I meant the mic that goes on the goggles to record audio on the dvr .
Is there any chhance to get the ORQA files i mean the originals so i can test them? any recording is ok just need original DVR
What are you looking to test? I haven't been using the new orqa goggle recently, not sure I have any dvr files on hand.
@@NickBurnsFPV the googles I order the drone and controller from another vendor and it's taking over 2months so I just want to test the googles
Oh yes I remember that. He has glasses and a pony tail. I too am struggling to o remember the channel name
@@NickBurnsFPV yup. You’re right. Ponytail and glasses.

I can't think of a 60fps dvr in a monitor. Even the orqa dvr isn't 60fps, it is consistent but its 50fps.
Can you use them with glasses?
Or do you need to buy lenses?
I wouldn't think normal glasses would fit, lenses are pretty much needed if vision correction is needed, not all vision impairments need lenses, I don't use anything.
What was that long ant you used?
There were two in the video. We had the double axii and the long truerc. I use the longer ones vertically so it gets up above my head
Hey looks like I need to get my Hem license. Can you point me in the right direction?
This site does a good job and if we go into #3. we get a full list of clubs offering the test online. hamradioprep.com/ham-radio-license-test-online/
Nick, why do you use lipo instead of 18650 to power the goggles?
No particular reason. I would rather lipos than 18650. I only have one 18650 charger and 5 lipo chargers
@@NickBurnsFPV is it the same as the rgular and hv lipos on quad that it should be storage charged if not used for more than 3 days?

Hey what is the measurement of the goggles across the faceplate? are the new ones wider? i never got the orignal orqas because the sides of the googles lined up with the corner of my eyes.

@@da_bits What goggles work for you? DJI?
@@NickBurnsFPV actually the dji leak alot of light by the nose for me. I use a set of modified fatshark hd3 at the moment. I may just have to go hdo2 but I think I'm going to wait as long as I can to see what comes out. I think there's gonna be a lot of new full digital things in the next year or so.
Hi Nick. What I don’t understand is, is there a reason I would I buy this or skyzone over dji goggles?
Not at this time, as long as the skyzone's are the 04X.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks Nick!
Does the TBS Fusion cover fit on the FPV.One Pilot?
Yeah
yes the module bay covers for modules on v1 of the goggles fit on v2.
can you notice a difference between the 30 FPS to 60 FPS in the Skyzone goggles?
Nice vid ✌
You need everything except the goggles

Captain drone uses a go pro to film inside dvr
Just go skyzone!
I'm starting to get a funny feeling about Orqa...
maybe a not so funny feeling.
