Maybe I’ll write a whole album about that kind of love if I ever find it. but this album is about the other kinds of love that I’ve recently fallen in and out of. Also if you look at all of her past albums they are full of nighttime imagery. She never mentions rainbows or sunlight except in “Out of the Woods” (and “Wildest Dreams” But the sun is setting so that doesn’t count)

daylight would have been a better album name, as it feels a lot more awake and vibrant like a morning, and as the song is much more what the album is like (also as I don't like lover that much tbh)

I’m a guy, I first heard this song on a dark cold night when I was sleeping. My mind wandered and traveled back to my teen years (late 2000s) when I truly experienced true love with my then crush. She would later get married off by her parents to a man who she didn’t love and the marriage broke up prematurely . She gave birth to 2 kids and wasn’t herself after that. I had to move on. But back to the dream, I had the most amazing smile being with her and we kissed for the first time which we never did. Never felt a more soothing peace after that experience.

on jimmy fallon, taylor said "daylight" was originally going to be the title of this album. i think it's so beautiful that this song is the aesthetic and mood of this chapter of her life.

I don't think you guys understand how meaningful her picking up the phone at the end of the song is. She has been torn apart so many times by a phone. Joe Jonas, when he broke up with her over a phone conversation. Jake Gyllenhaal when he called after he had missed her birthday party, Kayne and Kim and their conversation over the phone for her consent over a song.
Taylor has been heartbroken so many times over the phone. But she's choosing to pick it up once again.
