This is exactly what I wanted from Abel. A bright but still dark sounding instrumental that continues the progression of the “relationship toxicity” and “obsession/addiction” topics. Keeps everything familiar but still raises the bar for what Abel can put out. Also matches perfectly with the idea of “dawn” as AH was very nocturnal/nightlife based. Great work

@@arthar8435 Yeah, ik. When I said “This is what I wanted from Abel”, I didnt mean that he made the instrumental. I meant that in terms of the overall song, this is where I wanted Abel to be. This sound is where its familiar but different enough where it’s refreshing but he still creates something great. All in all, I think SHM fits great with what Abel is trying to do.
Dont know if anyone feels the same but, with Adele's comeback, collaboration of Selena and Coldplay and this nostalgic sound of Swedish House Mafia is like were back in 2010.

You know what I love about this song? It's that the song is sang in Abel's point of view. And what I mean by that is the lyrics try to tell the story that he's in control... that he's the badass... that he can call the girl at any time and make her leave her lover for him... when in reality, he's the one writing the song about her. He's the one giving her the time of day. He's the one thinking about her. And, as shown in the music video, he's the one pinned down to the chair. While he tries to play it off as being the one in the driver's seat, it's in fact the exact opposite. She's in control here. She's the one clouding his thoughts. She's the one that caused him to practice this toxic masculinity. She's the flame and he's the moth. This hits way too close to home for me. She's the flame, I'm the moth... even though I refuse to believe it.

lol abel projects sometimes, you can tell in his music. Or more you could psychoanalyze him and see that some of the things he says are projection but hes also self aware (its all speculation though, theres no way to get to really know someone exactly through their art but they do tell you). Hes very honest in sharing all his true feelings and because we are all human, we project sometimes. But its interesting how from focusing on really great artists art, you can sort of decipher what they might be going through, because a lot of what they write comes from the subconscious. Thats kind of what art is. And it can help awaken something in your subconscious or unlock a deeply relatable but not often voiced emotion and thats why it feels that way. And abel seems to be tiptoing on mastering his craft (dont quote me on this im not an expert at all, just a person who likes music) and is very high functioning but has this lingering feeling that there could be more. His background set him up to be a specific kind of person who is very high functioning in the world and at the same time needs to work hard and have values and ethics, who can make it in every way in life and maybe still feel that void that leaves them questioning (a thirst for knowledge most likely), you can tell from a line in his song "too late", for example. I admire him as a person, his work ethic, there is no way i am even close to reaching his level in any way but at the same time hes just a person like all of us trying to communicate something with us. Its not satisfying. It doesnt fill the void. Theres just more emptiness at the top. Its not the what you want, its about the art. And yet...he is a celebrity and lives in that world. People often dont understand how they are kind of hypocrites almost and we cant even blame them for it? Because imagine if you are there, none of us can. A true artist will be able to hit every person's heartstrings a little differently. And my interpretation above is just how this song hits me personally. Whether or not Abel is actually going through any of this is completely unknown. I think that's why I have this song on repeat - it's because this song speaks to me so personally but completely differently than how the next person might interpret the lyrics. The song screams "I'm in control" yet, if you are truly in control, why do you need to flaunt it?
