Yeah, it's really impressive. Some dude said "Yeah, all I need is some capacitors, some resistors, and some transistors and i'll make it go "pew Pew Pew" LOL
I am a pinball person. Once I saw your videos on High Speed, & Pin-Bot I instantly subscribed, A LONG TIME AGO! I own both of those machines by the way. Hello from Phoenix Arizona.
I just started watching your videos and they are fantastic, especially since I have a full sized Centipede and Asteroid that are functional and in good condition and a small stand up Asteroids that needs some work that was tossed in with the Centipede when I bought it 15 years ago. It’s all there and looks to be in good condition. I’m sure I’m going to be buying a EPROM burner and a few other things soon. You make it look like fun to repair the machines. I played both games when they came out instead of going to college sometimes. Thanks for the awesome, helpful videos. Greetings from Washington state. Thanks
@@LyonsArcade thanks a lot. I’ve repaired a trac ball wheel by replacing one on a Centipede game but that’s all so far. Your paint job on the Wild Fyre pinball game was excellent. Keep the videos rollin’ and I’ll keep liking them. Thanks!
Get yourself some of the mini test clips. They have a spring loaded plunger arrangement and are a stiff wire with a hooked end so you can easily clip one on an IC pin and it will stay there securely. Also it’s safer to put a small resistor in line as either a pull-up or pull-down rather than connecting an output or input pin directly to +5 or ground.
One of my favorite games. Love that this one is in a lunar lander cab. I heard Atari build some asteroids with lunar lander cabinets :0) I just picked up a Arcade 1 Asteroids Lunar lander Major havoc mini cab Should be cool.
I missed out on a 100% good working asteroid cocktail arcAde game for $350 but I had a stand up one at one point and sold it wish I never sold it and the one for $350 had a save kit in it too so I can save the score
@@LyonsArcade At first I thought you meant a 556 and I'm like not freaking way! I was going to contact you and drop ship a bunch to you at $10/ea and make a killing :-) Thanks for the reply!
@@LyonsArcade you're welcome. Your channel is awesome. I like when you troubleshoot and the schematics. Its all great. You should get a Fluke meter probe auto accessory kit to test those tiny connections. Sparky Channel did a review on it 4 days ago. 👍
Honestly it was because I confused the 566 with a 556... 555's and 556's go bad a lot... once I noticed it was a 566 (completely different) I already had it in my head that it must be the problem, lol.

It’s mind boggling that all those sounds are generated with analog circuits. Those 70’s designers were amazing!

Thank you Pat, we appreciate you watching buddy! We've done a bunch of videos on Centipede and Asteroids, if you get stuck anywhere send us an email.

Good idea , Thank you!
Another great vid! Greets from your biggest fan in Norway!
Thank you ReplaceableHak, we appreciate you watching over there!

Very cool man, the only thing I don't like about the Arcade 1's is they're so short, i'm 6'1 and just can't do it!
They are short I picked up the riser :0)@@LyonsArcade
Repeat after me: "The big saucer makes a certain sound"....great vids btw
Thanks for watching!
I want one of those kits, for sure!
Seems to work pretty good :)
Yay!! Asteroids😎
Love mine!
I think this is about our 10th Asteroids video!

$350 is a steal on any Asteroids that's working....
I thought you were exaggerating about the price of the 566. Holy Cow Batman!!! almost $30!!!!
You can probably get them for less than that but yeah it's pretty steep !

I thought the same exact thing when I saw it, "Oh those are cheap" but yeah the 556 and 566 are completely different beasts....
I had to look up what a 566 was. So it is an oscillator like a 555, but it is voltage-controlled.
Cool video
Thanks Bob, we appreciate it!

I'll check that out, thanks!
You need to fly thru the screen left to right. I was the best player in my hometown back in the 70s
Why didn't you suspect the 4016 chip?

@@LyonsArcade welcome!
Monitor looks beautiful Ron! You were scaring me with that alligator clip vs pin haha. I use Mike sometimes but Joe at highscoresaves.com is my bro
Yes we get stuff from him too, he's cool. Yeah that alligator clip was SKETCHY AS HELL
U fix all these games.
No formal education.
Your on it RON.
