A supervisor once told me and I quote "if you fall, you're fired before you hit the ground" so I became a safety coordinator for that same company

28:07 I have a Winnie the Pooh bear That I left at a hotel. I slept with that bear ever single night of my life. And we looked for hours trying to find him. We called the hotel and explained our situation, Hotel staff said there was nothing they could do about it the rooms had been cleaned and items had been trashed. We then remembered one of the cleaning ladies names and ask to speak with her, We told her what was going on she remembered a bear On her cart. Turns out that was him so we come back get him and I still sleep with that there every single night. Had we not been polite or even known the lady's name he probly would have gotten thrown away. Point of the story is, if you can find out someone's name interact with them and be nice. it will get you a lot farther in the case of a lost item

*probably.. idk why that is so difficult to spell, it is spelled exactly how it sounds. Why spell it "probly" when most auto correct will correct it. So, honest question, is it out of being cool 😎, or lazy or pure ignorance?

I always thought most of the radio stations hosts and everything they did was fake. Until one day I put in a request for a song at a local radio station. I submitted the request under the name "Walrus Lord". Approximately 20 mins later, the DJ came over the air between songs and said "Up next *this song* by *this artist*. We also received a request from someone called "Walrus Lord", and when the Walrus Lord asks for something, you give it to him, and he requested *whatever song i said*". Probably the most exciting day of my life.

Lmao my friend & I called a station to request a song (I don't have a clue now what it was either. The stations' been off the air over 20yrs). We actually got the co-host DJ and for some reason chose that moment to share that our friend had named her bird the same as the host DJ. Emphasized it was a coincidence. I wish I could better remember what we said, but either way, she turned it, & parts of our attempt to amend what she said, into a skit on the air & used it to shame/ tease him for some reason (he sounded like it was more shaming than funny & we felt bad. But all our attempts to re-direct the conversation were used against us - or, shall I say, him...).
So we got our song played along with a clip of us (which I think they used more than once, too 😶), stunned, shaming the host, live on the air.
Sorry, Remmey! We meant well! 😌

My husband used to be a DJ while in college. A college age girl was drunk, and somehow ended up getting run over by a car. All the people there had been drinking and for whatever reason no one called 9-1-1. She kept telling the guys that were driving her to the hospital that she wasn’t going to go in, UNLESS, they took her to meet Gary from the radio. So they stop at the radio station, a po-dunk, Waco TX radio station in 1990, so his boss comes to his booth and tells him what’s going on, to please go see this girl and stall them, he’s calling for an ambulance. She was laying in the back seat of their car. So my sweet Gary rushes out there and meets her, signs a bunch of stuff for her while waiting for EMS, she was so sad because she didn’t know that my husband had a disability that requires him to use forearm crutches (the kind that look like the hook onto the arm, and the hands rest on a handle) she kept crying saying “I’m so sorry your legs are broken” yet here she was with an actual broken leg, and internal injuries. He was so stressed out after that, by the time he got back inside, he just needed to sit quietly for awhile. Of course he was college age too, 21-22 yrs old.
But I remember not very long ago I was driving thru some small town in with Louisiana or Arkansas and the computer equipment that played their music broke down. The DJ rushes home, grabbed her CD 💿 collection and saved the day. I was super bummed out when I got out of range from the signal cuz it was like being part of a drama lol!

The plasma one made me angry. My dad donated plasma as many times as he could on the regular to help feed us; and I can only imagine how many other people do.

    • @jackmomma7481
      @jackmomma7481 3 года назад +13

What's messed up is how the blood / plasma donation centers count on the addicts and hookers of the local area, and the less fortunately to meet their quotas. For the addicts, it's almost guaranteed that they will donate as often as possible too just to get how ever much money is paid to them upon their donation... that way they can get a fix in afterwards
Because of this, everyone who goes in there is immediately believed to be an addict needing dope money. You ever notice how these centers are strategically located in areas of high prostitution and drug dealing activity?

About parents having reverse locks on their kids door: I have a coworker who was awoken in the middle of the night by her Ring doorbell only to find one of her kids friend at the door in his boxers and no shirt (luckily it wasn't the dead of winter, but was still a chilly night). Poor kid had been sleepwalking. He lived several blocks away. She accidently woke him when she spoke through the doorbell (was funny to watch only because I knew everything turned out okay). She was able to get his attention and drive him home. If that were my kid, you bet your ass I would be locking them in their room every night after such an episode.

The harm reduction model works under the same idea as a lot of depression/anxiety/ADHD therapy does, which is that functionality is sometimes the best you can hope for. Most people find it’s a healthier mindset, as you don’t put as much stress and pressure on yourself. But by getting out of bed, eating something, taking a shower, etc., you find that you can go outside or see your friends.

    • @rutherfrogp.wilmington4907
      @rutherfrogp.wilmington4907 3 года назад +10

Yes harm reduction is the way to go 100%. I know someone who used to be addicted to meth. Now she smokes pot and does mushrooms once in a while but can live a healthy, fulfilling, and productive life and has good relationships with her family. Pushing her to be totally drug free probably wouldn't have been successful for her

Definitely the best! I have dyspraxia, there definitely is a ceiling when it comes to how good I can be at something that requires physical coordination, this mindset helps a lot.

That one about the special education injuries hit me hard. I've been in these kind of schools all my life and it so scary seeing your favorite staff member having to try and de-escalate a situation and end up getting really hurt. Its wierd how many of the kids have like almost superhuman strength when mad enough. I thing the worst was when a kid punched a teacher in the face and broke their jaw. But also low key the most fun kind of school just for the amount of pure stupidity for reasons to pop off.

Truck driver here. I once pulled into the parking lot of a downtown brick building. It had wire in the glass and bars cemented into every window. Razor wire rolled all along the roof top and cameras everywhere. The door had 3 locks on it. The sign said armed guards were authorized to shoot on sight, and that there were guard dogs on duty. I saw no dogs but there really were armed guards inside. What was I picking up there? Mattresses. Freaking mattresses. Once inside, I realized most of the security was meant to keep the sweat shop workers inside and hidden from view. But here I was, in the middle of America in a sweatshop with dozens of immigrant workers practically imprisoned inside. I wondered if any of them slept outside the factory, but knew better than to ask.
Another place I pulled into was about as generic as you can imagine. It was a newer building, the kind where you find some architectural or engineering company or accounting firm. Once inside, I was treated nicely and had access to a waiting room and a bathroom. What was I picking up? Millions of blank (unprogrammed) credit cards. Probably the most valuable load one could ever put in a semi. The whole place was hidden in plain sight. But you can bet your last dollar that the security was state of the art.

This is similar to the one about the HVAC company. My stepdad is a supervisor for a mobile home building company, and he's been there for around 14 years now, starting off in work release and then just never leaving. This place has always been one of the main places where work release inmates go and every day many workers are missing so my stepdad has to do the job of seeeveral other people as well as is own. People there do drugs all the time and anytime someone gets seriously injured or has health problems, the company uses their own dude in a pickup truck to bring the person to the hospital instead of calling an ambulance. People literally almost die there all the time and almost have heat strokes (I think some actually have had them), but the company only cares about making sure no government agencies find out about what goes on there. The owners of the company are like the richest guys in the county and the seniors of the town's high school had their prom pictures taken at one of the owner's houses. I've also heard stuff about one/both of the owners previously having other businesses that they've filed bankruptcy for and then just started new ones.

I worked at a Golden Corral for 6 months in-between leaving a job and moving out of state. Im not sure if this was just my local store, and a result of the franchisee, but when I started there I wouldn't touch my free meal with a 10 ft. Pole, by the time I left I happily ate my shift meal. Why? Because the standards employed there from food handling to clean up was incredible. I remember a manager making a cook throw away an entire bin of prepped chicken wings because it was prepared before it should have been (they knew it would be used super quickly but they didn't care, it was officially considered unsanitary) as a result the people lining up at the feeding troughs like animals would throw a fit because food was slow, but they didn't care, things were going to be done correctly there. The pay was trash and they begged me to stay, but I was used to way more money and I was leaving anyway. That was 7 years ago so things may have changed, but I'd have sent anyone there and been confident they were getting fresh, good meals.

We spend a good amount on this hotel room, and they sent us to the cheapest Days Inn where a cop was sitting out front, people were standing outside of their rooms and smoking entire packs of cigs in one sitting and drinking beer from paper bags, and they didn't have any double rooms left. He knew dozens if not hundreds of regular customers by name and address and often order. It was always funny “yeah you’ll wanna take a left here they’ll be halfway down on the right. If the parents are gone the kids’ll just keep the tip money. And the moms an okay tipper. But if the dad answers, foo wee, you’ll be in the money!” And so yeah it goes without saying we knew exactly which ones were gonna be a straight up stiff or like 23 cents. I had two of them one after the other then made the stupid decision to go out and visit a friend. I made it down the road and half way down some steps sat down threw up and passed out. Two of my flat mates found me and they couldn't wake me a good friend of mine found me and still couldn't wake me. I was told afterwards what happened. They managed to get me into my friends car and went back to where I lived. So they called an Ambulance and I was taken to Hospital and about three in the morning I heard this man saying hello. On the AA one, I am a drug addict who has had one open heart surgery from drug use and needs a 2nd. The things is, those that can just *stop* using all day every day on their own don’t have the same brain make up as an actual addict. They just enjoyed using hard core until they didn’t anymore.
And as far as harm reduction like suboxone or methadone, every addict I know that uses those also abuses those or sells it or used with it and it helps them /function/ longer than just using illegal drugs would. (And the withdrawal is *WAY* worse than any other substance)
AA is all or nothing. After all of my struggles, and I’m still struggling, I still believe AA/NA is the one that will help me. The whole purpose is to help you find whatever higher power that will help guide you, even if you’re athiest.
I hate when nurses put medical terms on it when they don’t know the real struggle. % wise it does look bad, but street drugs are only getting worse and alcohol is everywhere you look.

All of what you said is true, but for people who aren't so far gone (i.e. don't have full physical dependency etc.) preaching total sobriety can do more harm than good. (Full disclosure: my only real experience with addiction is alcohol, in that I lost my grandmother to alcoholism and somewhat self-medicated with it in the past before I sought real mental health treatment.)
In some ways it's like telling people that their only options are drowning or avoiding water entirely, and that all swimmers will inevitably drown. But in reality, while swimming will always bear some risk of drowning, it is better to learn to swim properly and understand basic water safety. Some people will find they are a weak swimmer or just can't resist throwing themselves straight into a rip current and really should just avoid water, but they will at least have the tools to not drown if they ever fall in anyway.

Holy hell I grew up "in the halls" as they say in NA/AA, and literally all they said were true. They have 12 steps, or tenants, and one of them is literally accepting the fact that being sober is the ONLY way to not end up in jails, institutions, or dead (I believe its the 3rd step prayer). As I grew up, I realized how backwards they were, and ultimately cut off all ties

See I think different areas operate differently because my experience has been completely the opposite to the description here.
What you describe only relates to habitual addicts who have tried everything and not been able to stop. In that case these people almost always end up one of those three, but not everyone has the disease of addiction and some can recover by other means.
The groups I go to have always told people that we can't tell you if you're an alcoholic or an addict, only they can decide if they are which is what the big book tells us. Anyone who trys to tell someone that they are have got it completely wrong and don't understand the principles of AA.

The fast food guy was straight up lying. Oil gets changed every 24h-8 days depending on what product is being produced and what fryer model they have. Many mcdonalds for example have perfectly clear and yellow oil for 6+ days because they filter it every 24hours. It saves a lot of money and a lot of product. Saving product does matter if you hate seeing waste. Discarding oil every 5 hours is actually psychotic

The change the fryer oil every 5 hours thing blew my mind. I used to work at kfc and the regular fryers were about every 2 weeks and the pressure fryers could last almost a month. The oil was cleaned 2-3 times a day with magnasol (not confident on the spelling) and sent through a filter machine and this would.literally unburn the oil or atleast remove the carbon from it or something. We used our fryers almost constantly as well.

Probably because for years I couldn't have the original back when they made it with artificial dye, but before my mum discovered my dye sensitivity we bought tons of Kraft Dinner, so the original is what I remember having as a toddler, and the more "natural" shell stuff tastes really different but by the time my brother was eating solid food we'd stopped buying original KD cause of the dye but we bought the shells on occasion because they were artificial dyes/flavour/preservative free, so what he remembers having as a toddler is probably the shells.

Like other fast food restaurants anything that they would have left at closing time they would just throw in the trash, so he would ask everyone either ordering or just walking by if they wanted anything and he would just give whatever he had left away for free. The person who is talking about AA seems to be basing their opinions about it from what others have told them. It's likely many are those who don't want to stop drinking/using and are making excuses for not going or giving it a try because I have seen the same thing in these places and the staff listen to the majority of their clients who aren't ready to stop or just have no intention of stopping but want a prescription from them or have been forced to attend when the staff should do their own research.
Obviously not all meetings are the same but they definitely don't shame anyone who has a relapse, when a person relapses and uses the excuse about not wanting to go and being made to feel bad that's either an excuse for not going or shame that they are projecting on themselves.
AA is all about love and compassion, you can be honest and not worry about being harshly judged or criticised by everyone else. Yes the success rate isn't high at all but that's the same for any addiction treatment. The fact that it's proven to work for some people is amazing and if you keep it up and do what's suggested even if you are still drinking or using your life will be better for it and your chances of getting sober and being able to live a happier life are immeasurably higher.
So many people put AA down because it didn't work for them or someone else but it can't do all the work for you which is what so many people expect. Getting clean is the hardest thing a person will ever attempt and when you don't want to stop you'll make any excuse for not staying sober. We know that AA will only help us to get clean so anyone who doesn't want to stop will naturally make any excuse that they are able to think of to stop attending and act like nothing will help them. The addiction doesn't want you to stop so you'll convince yourself not to go back even though it's obvious that it's better than not going.
Even after I stopped going and decided to not remain sober the things that I learnt from AA helped me in every aspect of my life from relationships to work and being happier in general. The 12 step program can improve anyone's life even if they aren't an alcoholic/addict because it's all about learning to accept the negative things that you can't change in your life, discovering more about yourself and why you think and behave like you do and then working on improving your character defects, also showing us how to be less selfish and help others so we start feeling better about ourselves while also being less effected by the things that upset or frustrate us from the biggest things right down to the most insignificant stuff that can get to us and build up over time.
Just ask the family members of AA members who have actually given it a real attempt beyond just a few weeks. They are the ones who notice the changes and most of them can't believe how much it helps their loved ones as well as helping them in turn. The only people I have seen being critical of it are those who refuse to accept that their loved one is at fault and expect the group to babysit them everytime they call. It's a program that teaches you to take action and be accountable, not to get other people to do all of the hard work for you.

You don't need to be berated by others to beat your own self up for your failures (real or perceived). As wonderful as your AA group was, I guarantee you there have been members before AND since you were part of it that stopped going after one tipsy night because they couldn't bear to show their face there again. Even if they had previously seen and helped support people who had done the exact same thing many times before their own lapse. Some of the most compassionate people in the world won't cut themselves even a tiny degree of the slack they show the rest of the world as easily as breathing. And for a lot of them, it's a big part of the reason they drink in the first place.

True to our slogan, our hamburger patties are never frozen, just stored barely above freezing. However, the french fries, chicken nuggets, and chicken breasts for sandwiches are all frozen. Also, the ground beef for our, ah, famous chili is taken from burgers from the previous night that weren't eaten.
For my specific store, the oven we used to bake potatoes and bacon was in massive disrepair, the latch keeping the door shut broke off years ago so the manager just bolted a deadbolt from Home Depot on to keep it shut, though sometimes it fell open anyways. Also, the oven had about a 50/50 chance of just going out halfway though the day and it's honestly a surprise the damned thing didn't blow us all to hell.

They had strict rules and regulations for health and safety. And they tried to uphold these rules and stand by them.
But there were slips, sometimes something truly gross would happen and the people in charge would just shrug their shoulders and ignore it.
Had a guy with a drippy nose who would sometimes drip into the mixing tanks for the mustard.
Once found an animal bone in some horseradish roots, after throwing the bone away they still used the roots that were on the same pallet.
And one time a guy dropped half a bucket of mustard on the ground. He grabbed a clean and sanitized shovel and just started putting the top of the pile back in the barrel.
I told the boss and he shrugged and smiled saying, “At least that half wasn’t touching the floor.”
And these are just the ones I can immediately remember.

    6:31 Dunkin' Donuts.
I don't know when they did this, but in in a metroplex town near Dallas, Texas, I knew the guys that worked at our local 24-hour Dunkin Donuts Shop and I can tell you that used to make them every morning at 4:30 and there was probably more being made at 4:30 p.m. if not times in between. I've rolled a few big batches of dough out myself , cut 'em out and thrown 'em in the oil to fry, covered them in glaze and dipped them in chocolate sheet.
I suppose it was when the health craze started in the 80s, Dunkin Donuts business plummeted the two shops we had in town closed, even the one Winchell's we had, closed long before that - they were on a One Way side street going to the Downtown Square their business was booming in the a.m. and at lunch but my guys' was on a highway that runs through major business area in town that was used as the "main drag" for teen cruisin' on weekends. I don't hear about Dunkin Donuts for 20 years, all of a sudden I'm seeing commercials about their ' wonderful coffee' being sold in grocery stores and whatnot. I guess they revamped and or still made a living in some Midwestern and colder States that maybe drink a lot more coffee and where Starbucks had not begun to shine yet (if that's even possible).
Shortly after I saw a video here on RUclips " Irish try Dunkin Donuts" they called it "stale" and "not very good" and "not as good as Krispy Kreme" and "gross (etc)", asking "how did they ever get so popular , that we would hear about them " , and then later on, I was watching some other RUclips video and it told the fact that Dunkin indeed is making them as frozen products that are heated up and served as though they were made fresh that morning.
