I would say so. Alan is 100% a dude. He knew that he was the universe and that this mind-made BS was all part of the dance so he just abided and taught us to do the same
Basically Abide means trust the process.
Props to quoting Émile Durkheim! If you throw in some Pierre Bourdieu in a later video it would truly be awesome. He and Zimmel were the Strangers of Sociology.

Hey Dude, the pricey but authentic sweater is available from Pendleton. It costs a few clams, but they are nice. Or you may luck out and find it in a thrift store or online second hand. Wish we could be more helpful.

Dudes, I got a confession and I need help please. My thinking has been far too uptight lately and I have the WORST fear of death that is ruining my life and making me miserable. Are there any Dudeism/Taoist views on death/afterlife that anyone can refer me to? Or just the views of fellow dudes? I do my best to abide but that underlying terror is always there. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Dudes
I’m just now learning about Dudeism and it really sounds like my cup of tea, but I can say to you there’s some parallels to the Stoic ideas that came before. One is that you should only concern yourself with the the things that you can control. If you can’t control it, let it go. The universe is an unending series of cause and effect events and whatever happens in it is entirely determined by these cause and effects. It is inescapable and therefore you must allow yourself to accept that what happens is destined to happen and worrying too much about things that you cannot control is not conducive to a balanced state of mind.
The Dude spends his time in the moment. Not living in the future but in the here and now.
Well, we all feel some existential dread from time to time, if this is not immanent death, then it is okay to just talk about it until you find some peace. If you are seriously depressed and this is really effecting your life negatively we suggest seeking some professional help.

About a month ago I was really down in the dumps and was stupidly reading every philosophy out there trying to desperately find something that resonated with me to help get over this crippling fear of death. I opened up to my mates and they were all really helpful but even today I’m still a nutcase reading endless philosophy books and videos on RUclips - Eckhart Tolle, Alan Watts, Alan Watts etc. Dudeism defo helps tho to be honest. Think I just need to find a worldview that makes sense to me and stick to it and abide. Many thanks again, Dude!
