Thanks for the vids Dane... very helpful. have to admit to feeling rather deflated by what's going on at the moment. I'm ploughing through the EDTs, but these have been put on hold again due to Level 5 and there is no sign of test dates being available until well into next year. I'm hearing talk of 9 month+ delays, and I'm not even at test-ready stage, and given the endless stop-start lockdown regime, I won't be at that point until early in the new year. I'm in my 40s now (came to this game late, yes), so last year I had been anxious to get the licence as soon as possible.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive I failed the test in letterkenny.. The tester told me that I jumped red-light and which iam 110 percent sure I'd didn't jumped it and he said you were not moving off in the traffic jam..the traffic was so slow I was goin on a very slow speed. Hi Dane, I'm just wondering if you would recommend waiting in D or N at a red light in an automatic? I have been waiting in N with handbrake on but would the equivalent of waiting in 1st in a manual be to wait in D with the handbrake on in automatic? Thanks

The one about going from 4th gear to 2th directly is something that I've done a few times and... my driving instructors told me not to do!! I've got 2 different ones and both told me not to jump from 4th to 2nd. And the reason I've done it a few times is, as you said, it's because I don't have time to change one by one. I had my driving test on Thursday 1st time) and unfortunately I didn't pass :/. I discovered your videos last weekend!! Hahaha, so I didn't have time to check all of them. The thing that most annoyed me is that the test guy didn't want to finish all the test, in the moment "I failed" is when we went back to the test center. He didn't explain "detailed" what I did wrong, he just gave me the sheet you show us in a video, and it was mooore extended like had 20 different topics but each ahd the same kind of "mistakes"/faults , and literally said each one but didn't explain me when exactly I did it because that's the point of the mistakes say it when it happens. I remember comitting one straight away while I did it. I understand the test guy is busy but to be honest... nobody was after me in the parking waiting xDD. With all this I eman is frustrating that the test didn't finish because then I don't know if I would have passed roundabouts, turnabout and reverse on the corner. We pay 85€ to do the test 100%, not just until you actually fail :/ and adding the 7 month waiting then it's even worse.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with going from 4 to 2 as long as it is done properly and smoothly. You can email me at danetyghe@gmail.com and I'll examine your report sheet and give you some feedback.

Thanks for another great video Dane. I'm just wondering, what is the general protocol in regards to Yield signs? Should you treat them like Stop signs or only stop if there is oncoming traffic? Thanks :)
You treat a yield sign like a yield sign, you don't have to stop if it is safe to go. But be careful if it's a blind yield then you will probably need to stop.
Hi Dane, Quick question for you please. If I’m driving in 50km zone should I be in 4th gear? My car splutters in 4th gear going 45-50km. Or should I just stay in 3rd gear does it matter? I have my test in 2 weeks thanks.
Your first car must be based on your requirements, preferences and family size. I like the Opel Corsa and Astra but they will not suit everyone. Best to do research online and test drive some cars.
Hi i have a question regarding the test, if during the test i am at a junction, and have obstructed vision, i will creep out slowly in first gear looking left to right, what if i see a car coming my way would i stay wherever i am currently standing or back up if possible.

Hey Dane I just got my learners license can I apply for my driving test now for 6 months time or do I have to wait until I complete the 12 driving lessons
You have to complete the 12 lessons before you can get a test date. Your learner permit must be 6 months old before a test can be done.
Hi Dane just wondering, is it if you get 9 grade two faults or 9 faults either grade one or two that will cause you to fail the test. Thanks
9 or more grade 2 faults means bad news, not necessarily 9 overall.
I have a full foreign drive licence, and I'm using it for less than 1 year. Can I show up on driving test using this licence, instead of having a full irish licence holder with me?
No because your learner permit takes priority over the foreign license. You must have a full licenced driver with you at all times.
When you wait in first gear it means the clutch is also pressed down. Is that safe?
Why on earth would it not be safe?
@@DaneTygheletsdrive Just asking. If you will waiting at traffic lights. It will put unnecessary strain on the clutch?

The guards won't have a problem but thats if you get stopped you probably won't but wear a mask anyway it always helps
You need to have someone with you, if not you are risking prosecution. It depends on the Guard - some may be more lenient.
If your at a stop sign for awhile due to traffic would you use your handbrake test Friday !
Yes, if stopped over 5 seconds.
