My interpretation of the skit was that when you have not reached a point of complete grattitude for what God has ALREADY given you. It is like a father giving wise disciplinary.Hence, you are not ready to receive a greater amount of blessings or talents if you have not fully met the standards of genuinely appreciating what is already given to you. This "More Coke" skit relates to the "parable of the 5 talents" found in the bible.

This just shows God gives everyone different types of gifts, like if you can write poetry and another person can dance, you should not be jealous of the other. Or how much you get paid, maybe you aren't mature enough to handle the same amount of money a fellow Christian can handle. God knows us and what we can bare. He knows what's best, I need to recongize that too.
So why does God give one person in a food to eat and one person nothing to eat...which is more likely the case in a 3rd world country..where kids starve to death....one gets the gift of life and one gets the pain and suffering of starvation???

maybe if we all got 2 litters of coke some of us would be too fat, some of us would throw up because they drank too much, some would get diabetes from the sugar, and some would be just fine. if everyone got a can not everyone would be happy either. It's not about religion. It's about having a relationship with Christ. Sometimes we can't get past all the rituals and trappings of religion to get to the heart of the matter which is God Himself and our salvation through His Son Jesus Christ.
It's a good skit, but it could have been great if they were willing to acknowledge the complexities of situations like these. It's easy to say "Oh the Laura character is being a jerk and if you act that way, your're a jerk too." The problem is, most people don't jump to anger at the beginning. They start with hurt and confusion. I would have had Laura become sad and confused and ask Jesus "Why is the can of Coke you gave me so small? Am I being punished? Did I not do enough for you? How can I get a bigger can of Coke?" I'm sure this comment will generate a lot of ad hominem attacks against me. That's OK. It says more about the haters than it does about me.
In some way I understand the lady because.. that must be a great feeling to receive a bigger bottle, so you can drink more because it is your favourite drink. Gifts are not important, the Giver is.

I don't know if anyone can answer directly answer your question, and to be honest I've wondered the same thing. How can you know when anything is life is given by God or influenced by God? Perhaps that's not the point ... the point is being grateful for what you have, but more importantly is if you are abiding in Him. Once you abide in Him, then you would know that every good and perfect gift comes from above.

BUT we are all worth the same to God, He doesn't value anyone else more than you, so you are just as important to Him as anyone else. God gives gifts for a reason and Jesus said that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man, so maybe having less will help you be close to God, now THAT is a greater gift than earthly wealth.

Whether or not he is rich has nothing to do with it. Just as easy as it was for Paul to receive salvation, is as easy as it is for all men to receive it. In other words a rich man can receive salvation just as easy as a poor man could.

Because someone dies earlier than another doesn't mean he isn't equal, that just proves that there is sin in this world. And because we sin, we die. And God doesn't work in giving someone less. His word is good for reproof. God doesn't work by giving us less. I'm not saying we can't learn from having less or going through trials, I'm just saying thats not how God works...

@setheroon1 Sickness is different because us christians can rebuke it, and if it was from God we can't rebuke it. It's more "Allowing it to happen" than "giving" when you talk about sickness.
@vickiormindyb I'm assuming that you're christian but correct me if I'm wrong. I think what you're struggling with is very common especially among women.. but also in men too. coveting because we feel that what God has given us isn't as good as others. But what we must remind ourselves is to see through everything that is temporary and know that no matter what if a person is not finding full satisfaction in God which we are made to do... they will settle for something temporal.

You don't die because of someone elses sinning. We've all sinned and live in a world OF sin. We inherited it. If we die due to other peoples sin Christ wouldn't have even said that because it wouldn't have mattered.
