As you continue along Eu Tong Sen Street, you’ll encounter notable landmarks like People's Park Complex, a mixed-use building from the 1970s, and the Majestic Theatre, a historic building that once functioned as a Cantonese opera house and cinema. The street is adorned with beautifully restored shophouses that reflect Singapore's colonial past and vibrant trade history. As you proceed, you’ll catch glimpses of the Singapore River, a key player in Singapore’s development as a port city. Nearing the end of your walk, you’ll pass The Central, a contemporary mixed-use complex, before reaching Clarke Quay MRT Station. Historically, Chinatown has served as a cultural and commercial center for the Chinese community since the 19th century, designated by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1822.
