Pt 1: Sierra High Route - Thruhiking 200 miles through the High Sierra

The Sierra High Route(SHR) is a 195 route that winds through the high Sierras in California. It skirts off-trail above the Pacific Crest Trail(PCT) and John Muir Trail(JMT) for most of its length and joins them at parts as it stays as high as possible. In August of 2020 I went to hike it.
This is the first episode of our trip covering our start at Twin Lakes to our first resupply in Mammoth Lakes. Miles 0 - 80. Let me know what you think!

I assumed you used Roper's book? Maybe not though based on your route finding description? He seems to give some pretty good clues on finding the best way up and over each pass, but I've only hiked a few of the passes as parts of other hikes.

Yep! I used his book. We headed north to south, while Ropers book is set up South to North. That may be the cause for the discrepancy. There is still plenty of discretion to be used when taking on passes, even with Roper’s thoroughness.

No need to add "s"to the SIERRA! A single mountain chain! Sierra Nevada is Spanish for "snowy range" so, "mountains" isn't required!
