Every single one of the things mentioned in this ad are an exact bullseye to my father. If I could share photos in the comments I could literally show you: the tissue box boxes, the scraps of crown molding in the tool room closet, the massive hoard of both plastic grocery store bags as well as the up-cycled food containers for leftovers. Levels me every time I see this one 😂

I am a home organizer too and I’m also saying these things to my clients in a nice way, so they don’t feel bad for keeping those things “just in case”!

the sentiment is funny but this one in particular is literally just promoting throwaway culture. saving butter containers for leftovers is a good thing. saving scrap wood is probably a good thing too. the tissue box thing is just a matter of not having tacky packaging around your house. i guess i AM becoming my parents lol
Clearly you’ve never met an older person that saves literally EVERYTHING because in their mind it could be useful someday- only to sit around collecting dust because they never ever use it 🤣🤣🤣. It’s a joke, we all know people that do this

Good, people need to be called out in these commercials.
You need to do one with visiting the doctor. Lots of turning into your parents moments:
1. Arriving an hour before your appointment and wondering why other people are being seen first
2. I made a list of prescriptions I saw during commercials that I want to talk to you about
3. Asking people in the waiting room what they're being seen for
4. Diagnosing yourself in front of the doctor
5. Wondering why you have to show your ID and insurance card every time you visit
#2 would never happen. Too much big pharma money in commercials

Number 2 seems reasonable. Nothing wrong with talking to your doctor about possible prescription treatment.
And number 1, I would never do, because I'm always late, but if you arrive early and an appointment doesn't show up, or it's a slow day, they can 100% see you early. It's a gamble, but it pays off sometimes, if you want to get your appointment out the way early.
These are 💯 my guilty pleasure. I LOVE these commercials so much. Nothing brings me more joy 😂😂

@@olcoleman3240 Yep. Right after I work up the strength to get rid of the marketing trinkets I got from my first job about 27 years ago. The candy in the jar “melted” so my wife cleaned it out, but it has the company logo on it and it’s a pretty sturdy jar with a nice lid so I couldn’t let her recycle it. No, I don’t care if the company has been out of business for over a decade…..wait…..what was your question?

I refuse to accept giving up the butter containers they’re so versatile!!
I refuse to give up my plastic grocery bag collection. I use them to line my waste baskets and our grocery stores no longer offer them. Don't know what I'll do when my collection is depleted.
Collecting butter containers is fine if you actually use them. But if you have so many butter containers that they're just taking up space then you need to stop saving them until you stat to use up the other ones.

"Containers are for recycling" actually misses two things: 1) reuse before recycling is preferred. 2) Recycling is bunk anyway. Most of the plastic is never even a little recycled. She should be using those containers.

If I had seen this happening you better believe I would have dumpster dived for those wood scraps. For what, I have no idea. But my Dad always felt the need to save them, so it must be important.

This commercial is me, i keep the tissue boxes that have nice patterns on them and refill, i have scrap crown molding stored in my garage,
spare car mats and don't own that car they were originally from, and a lifetime supply of plastic bags stored in a pantry that i need for dog cleanup.😀

Reusing containers instead of recycling is much more eco-friendly. Recycling requires a lot of resources and often doesn't happen for plastics. Reuse saves the purchase of new plastic containers that require resources to create.
I'm going through this with my parents not throwing anything away. LOL
Every time I go over to my parents nowadays I try to find something to throw away that I know they have no use for but they're terrible at throwing things away.
Maybe you should keep your opinions of your parents things to yourself. If it gives them pleasure what does it hurt you? They spent their lives raising you. Let them have their guilty pleasure.
I, being low income & go to food pantries, can vouch for the fact that some people DO use empty butter containers for leftovers. I have Tupperware, but many people don't.
Also those tissue boxes, some people like them. I don't. I see no need for them. That was an "old fashioned" way to set Kleenex out.
But there are people who do like them. Take things like that to Goodwill!
There are many people "out there" that one person's trash is another's treasure.
I HATE commercials, but , I LOVE Dr. Rick and could watch these commercials over and over again. They are the best. Especially that girl with the medium length brown hair. She is hysterical.

This "doctor" saying your parents are losers. Don't be like them. First time I saw a Dr Rick commercial. I thought the commercial was a parody.
I dropped the policy and switched to GEICO the next morning. I got a much better deal. Flo and the Progressive Team got my attention when I checked out Progressive. I was a policyholder until I watched these commercials. This doctor character changed that.
I fear having an incident late on a Friday afternoon, calling in for help and the agent being pulled away by Dr. Rick.
Because working the call past 5PM looks like you actually care about doing your job. Don't be like your parents. Obligation, responsibility, and quality are so old-fashioned. Just put the call on hold, and go catch happy hour.

Not only are these Progressive commercials but I consider these to be like mini TED Talks. Since I relate with these homeowners, I consider Dr. Rick's advice to be valuable. Keep 'em coming, Progressive!

I’ve kept floor mats from vehicles I no longer own. I’ve always found them to be useful for covering the storage space of the new vehicle to help keep it, well, new 🤷♂️
I have the extra crown molding pieces and all weather floor mats from my previous Subaru Forester. Have had the tissue box covers at one time.

I save my extra pieces of molding because I have had to replace some. Did that just this week in fact. And as I've discovered, whatever they used in my house has been discontinued and you can't match it.
