The Character of God week 1
Starting With God
And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent
John 17:3
Genesis 1:1-31
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the sixth day
Key Points:
• According to this text, the earth was empty and literally in chaos. The Hebrew words used here are tōhu and bōhu, translated as "formless" and "void."
• God Brings Order and peace into chaos
• Order of creation:
-God speaks,
-God creates
-God names
-God declares creation to be good
-God numbers the day.
• Each day of creation sets up another day of creative works.
• God is a God of order and perfect planning
• God is Creator
• Creation has purpose
• Creation reflects the creator
• The Creator is beautiful and creates beauty
• God is Order and Light
• God has a way to make things good
• God has process for making things good
• God has a desire for good and beauty (Ps139)
• God is Relational
• God is love
• God desires to love
• God created us to love us, and us to freely love Him back
• God is Creator
• Creation has purpose
• Creation reflects the creator
• The Creator is beautiful and creates beauty

• Pray to your creator who is both outside of creation while also in it with you.
• Learn from the characters of the Bible who also struggled with knowing that God is perfect in Power, Plan, and Provision while also being fearful, failures, and flawed
• Pray like you understand that God created you so that He could love you
