The math teacher, Tyme is a rock specialist. Her story is cool she used to be the gym leader before Ryme but if you finish her class she gives you 50 rock terra shards to change your terra type
Glimmora is such a cool design. I love that you’d never guess its typing at first glance. Think my favorite Rock-type overall is one of the gen 6ers - Tyrantrum, Aurorus and Carbink.
After my third day of 12th grade midterms, I came home to this video. This made my already great day of midterms drastically better. Thank you so much, Keegan! ❤️
@Ash it's the exact same thing with Coalossal. Keegan used it because steel is neutral against it thanks to its fire typing, and since water resists steel but rock is weak to it, drednaw also takes neutral damage from steel.
@@Aoel__ Actually true but Carkol (it wasn't Coalossal yet) is also fire, while Orthworm is pure Steel, making it weak to Fire and not to Water, which makes Carkol the superior choice. Dreadnaw was also usable but less effective.
Been looking for a mono rock playthrough! I too realized eventually that no prominent figure in paldea really specialized in rock types, and these games really did raise my opinion of rock type Pokemon with glimmet glimmora and garganacl
Ice has great offenses, so it's horrendous defensive capability gets balanced out. Screw Gamefreak for making bug types bad though. You could make it super effective against Fairy and it'll probably be better than the likes of grass
Bug is my favourite type. Sucks it still doesn’t seem to receive any buffs. Like, they could’ve made it strong against fairy, but they made fairy resist it instead. I’ve even seen fangames nerf it Why does bug need more weaknesses?
@@solgaleo3533 only buffs ever to the bug type were def its weakness to poison being no more and getting the dark type (in terms of type matchups it has had huge buffs in roster and movepool too)
Technically, Geeta and Klawf are both supposed to be the rock representatives of Paldea. Klawf because it’s the Rock titan and Geeta because her Ace is a rock type and it teras into a rock tera, (also there’s one important trainer for every type and rock was all that was left for her.)
@@femboycatfish I mean in the main game. Every fight in the elite 4 is using one of the Titan Pokémon’s typing, and since Klawf’s type hadn’t been used and Geeta’s ace Tera’s into Rock, it’s supposed to be her.
Rockruff, hands down. It's a rock puppy, what's not to like? You should add a rule that allows you to catch shinies you encounter in the wild, and use them is you manually change their tera type to whatever challenge run you are doing :)
A good Challenge would be only using Ash’s Male traveling companion Pokémon and the other challenge being the use of only Ash’s Female traveling companion Pokemon
Awesome video Glad to see Gen 9 rock types get there due Garganacl is one of my favorite Pokémon for this gen 9 and Glimmora finally being used to its full potential was great Think would've been funny if acted more in line with Brock's character and simp on Tulip, Geeta and Grusha
I love how these videos actually teach you strengths and weaknesses and how to overcome weaknesses. It’s quite intelligent, really. *clicks subscribe button* ❤
oh hey! I recently finished a mono-run of scarlet with rock-types too! It was definitely a more casual playthrough, though (I was sometimes a bit overleveled, played on switch mode, and terrastalized once or twice (although only limited it to rock type teras). Not to mention i bent the rules a bit by catching two shinies. (to be fair it was venomoth and hawlucha, which have VERY appealing shinies)
My most fav rock type is definitely Glimmora it has the single best ability to setup toxic spikes with a physical move and its quite bulky with good counters to fairy flying and pesky fire types of the game
i love rock types i wish they had just a few less weaknesses😭 glimmora is my favourite gen 9 pokemon and gigalith is my favourite pokemon overall, i love seeing these guys finally shine!
Garganacl/ghost tera literally carried my team from about a third of the game to the end of the game my first run through lol slapped a loaded dice on him using curse and rock blast and he swept just about every gym, base, beast, and elite 4 trainer
Ironically enough I also found a shiny male combee in thst same area. I actually caught it though and named it Of Course. As in of course this is rhe shiny id get
Glad to know that other people want him to do this challenge! Though I’m not sure if he’s ever going to do that, since he moved to Scarlet and Violet for his challenges. However, a workaround for this would be a “Can Ingo beat Pokémon Scarlet/Violet?” challenge = )
My favourite rock type is coalossal because the success of it in my first gen 8 VGC tournament using a weakness policy, steam engine team to get 20th of over 200 competitors, it was amazing to sweep with a literal mountain of coal. If I flopped in the tournament than it would be rockruff cause it’s suck a good boi!
The way I imagine Sudowoodo standing proudly in a huge crater then dashing up and sbsolutely DECIMATING star mobile is cinematic in such a way that it feels like hes the main character.
My favorite rock type pokemon is Rampardos. During my first run of Pokemon Shining Pearl I fourd a fossil for Cranidos in the underground and got pretty attached to it. It even helped me beat Cynthia.
Hey, if you ever wanna do a challenge like this again in which you want a dusk form lycanroc for some reason, i have a tip, near medali (gym 5), is a special rockruff with the psychic tera type, i caught him multiple times, and every time so far he would have the own tempo ability
I love that you used a T-rex image for "jurassic bark" the rockruff for a second I thought it was gonna be frys dog from futurama the episode of the same name lmao
Rock types when combined with bug types minimises the weaknesses a rock can have. With no weaknesses being 4×. That's why crustle and shuckle are my fav rock types.
Fun fact, any move under 60 base power gets a flat boost to 60 base when the Pokémon using it is Terastalised, so Katy’s Teddiursa is actually using a base 60 Fury Cutter which doubles to 120 on turn 2. So basically she’s cheating.
I no joke just a week ago thought about doing a Rock Type Only Playthrough of Scarlet because there was no Rock Type Specialist without knowing about this video, and then this showed up in my feed.
My first reaction seen these videos is why do these videos get views but I’ve already watched two minutes of it and it’s very interesting thanks brother God bless
I pick Glimmora, I feel like she's a great first Pokemon, able to set up Spikes and Toxic Spikes on the fist turn is a good start, even if she only does Toxic Spikes from her ablility, it's still a big help.
