Hi Laura. My children are all grown now, but when they were school-age, it was always so difficult when the time will change. Everybody was off for at least two weeks. Everyone was more tired than usual. I wish they would leave the time alone.
I love the antique mixing bowls you use for mixing bread, pie crust etc. They’re beautiful. I always look for these kinds of bowls when I go to antique stores, but have never found them.
Always enjoy watching your videos Laura! I love how honest you are and your sense of humor . The land looks beautiful! How exciting to have that home build and something to look forward to. God bless you. ❤
Hi Laura. I'm an American whose homestate is MO. 🙌🏾😀. I have been following your channel since returning to MO from GA years back. Fast forward, during my time back in my home city, I held a pivotal position for a major non profit, cultural institution, having left teaching and went back into teaching later. Ultimately, I wanted more time to spend with my now 16 year old son. I opened my own business that has been up for about 8 years. It is a natural hair and skin care company. Back in the day, when "Our Oily House" had a majority of videos related to proper use of essential oils, I learned a lot from you about essential oils and implemented it into my business. We have all of our original recipes, but your knowledge on essential oils, helped. I continued watching as the content on your channel expanded. We now live in East Africa and have been a resident in my current country for almost 2 and half years. I'm still watching! You have no idea how nostalgic it is for me to tune in from this part of the world since my family is thousands of miles away right now😢. I have mixed countless batches of our natural hair and skin care products while tuning into your channel, since it's so soothing. What's even better.....drumroll.....The way your channel has evolved and expanded, is relevant to this chapter of my life as well. Part of our goals for being here, deal with agriculture and sustainable living. Your videos keep me motivated to do it all and keep me company while I'm doing my chores. I even added carrots to a minced beef dish a moment ago, because I saw another video of yours earlier today and you added carrots to meat loaf. I don't usually comment, but I thought it was worth dropping this, so you know how far your reach is, how successful you have been in maturing your channel as your life changes and to hear from someone from your hometown, who started following your channel in MO and is now all the way in Africa! I have learned a lot from you. Blessings to you and your family all the way from Africa😊
My sister gave me a tip for my tulips. She said, “don’t water them - no matter how much you are tempted.” I was tempted but refrained and sure enough they came back up. 😊
That’s a great idea to work on your new land before building! My husband and I have talked about doing that too - finding land and holding it while we save up again to build. That gives you time to imagine what your dream home is too! 😊 it looks like such a beautiful property.
Good luck with your new property and building your home. We have a homestead in FL and are in the process of building our home right now. There are ALOT of decisions to make! It has been great to design our home the way we want it to be. Design it the best way for your family. Thank you for your video’s!
That’s so exciting! You could build one of those Missouri log homes! They last forever! I think they’re called Gastineau log homes. Rhett really took care of my friends. They put those custom plans and build it quickly! You’re so close too, you could go visit.
I love that you went to Pella for Tulip Time! That’s my home town! I bet you will get along great with the tulips, but even if you don’t, hopefully the memories of the experience will be worth more than the experiment itself! 🌷
Laura- would you guys be willing to share your timeline and do just a video on your decision on purchasing the farm etc.? I don't know if you can do that while still maintaining your privacy, but it would definitely help my husband and I to start having a timeline in our head as we are in a similar situation.
You are really so easy to listen to and a joy to listen to. Everything you cook looks delicious just like your sis! Good job and keep up the good work you fo for your family each day! You’re a hard worker!
Another lovely video! Also, just wanted to say your kitchen is so cute! I love how you put your spice jars above your stove, so I did the same thing. It's so simple, but it's bringing me so much joy!
I just love watching you Laura. You have such a calming voice as well as great recipes and tips. Plus my kids are all grown so it reminds me of when my 5 kids were young🥲 and I homeschooling and cooked from scratch everyday😊
My family loves adding asparagus chunks to new potatoes(or regular potatoes cut into chunks) in a white sauce and a little nutmeg. Great way to use asparagus when you only have a small amount.
I never made quiche until last year, because I don't care for pie crust. But I made it for church and now its a favorite of all! So quick and simple to make a delicious meal! But half my kids can't eat dairy and wheat, so their's are more like frittatas
I’m so excited for you and your property! It sounds wonderful! That’s something we always wanted to do, his parents had 135 acres and he was an only child. He was always told that it would be his one day. His dad ended up in a nursing home with Altzheimers disease. His mom took us to breakfast one day and told us she had divorced his dad and listed the property for sale. We were devastated! But we are blessed to have our house where we raised our 4 kids. Good luck with it all!
HELLO Laura, family, and fur babies. Where we grew up in the country we had Cherry trees, they were delish, I remember even at this age. Wonder if you will be one of those farms where the community come pick fruit and pay your for it? NICE VISION Lauren and hubby. STTB
I noticed you use a lot of cut oignons, maybe at the start of a week you could get your older kids cut-up a lot of them, keep them in the fridge, and they would be ready for you to use in your recipes. I find it's a great time management method. Take care Lisa!
Great video Laura! I hope your tulips come up in the spring. Can't wait until you get to build your home. Will it be a farmhouse style? Also, can you state what "spices" you put in with your roasts and also in the future mention the spices you use in your cooking? I am not a good cook at all but I am always trying to learn and you are a great teacher!! Thank you!!
What a blessing about your property! Glad you have time and ability to prep so well! I envy you. I'm about to be 69, we're trying to retire(business owners) and move back to original home area near what family is left. Buying property is ridiculously priced-(how God blessed us with what we found!). But beginning the get ready to sell, move, prep to build and build right now is daunting..... But God is Faithful and has the plan already taken care of. Bless you dear one! ❤
Beautiful farm property! Thank you for the update....so exciting 😊 Make sure to put guards around your young fruit trees to protect from the critters...
I'm so surprised that you don't have a pantry full of staples like Better than Bullion, canned veg, frozen veg and lot's of cheeses. We are only 2 people in the household but I have a pantry like a store. If I had that many children I would be in panic mode without it!!
What an exciting, brilliant, fun journey you are sharing with us! You are brilliant with your decisions to prepare. Love all things on your channel. I appreciate you🌟👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻💃👍☺️❤️
I love your home and wish I could buy it when you sell it. How many square feet is your home? Enjoying your videos. You are a wonderful homemaker and mother.
My parents moved us to a city, but a beautiful neighborhood, because we had lived very rural and he knew we would all move where the jobs were. It was a great move. Had fun as young children and then moved later to a little bit bigger town with more opportunities.
Congrats, on the property. We moved to our farm 15 yrs ago. Were happy that we made the investment. Now that 1/2. of our children left for the city, were thinking about selling(high Amish population/pressure to sell :) Were beef farmers in WI. on 130+ acres...
Thank you for mentioning Elements (with electrolytes.) I had never heard of that one. I also filter my water with a Berkey, and I believe that the electrolytes are filtered out. I have been drinking Bai (sugar free) for my electrolytes. I believe mine is working because every time I get my blood labs drawn my electrolytes measure in the optimal range. I'll be researching the Elements brand now.
Hi Laura. I know you guys were able to add acreage to your new property. How much acreage do you now have? I’m super excited about y’all getting horses!
@@ouroilyhouse 😮that’s incredible!!! What a blessing to be able to raise your children in that! At the same time, I realize how hard you (& your hubby) have worked for that!
My son plays hockey and I want to make a face wash to help his forehead bumps and very mild acne. He’s 13. I’m thinking frac. Coconut oil, Castile soap, honey, glycerin (want it to foam), and tea tree oil. Everything sound good?
You could save the seeds and plant them next year, but they won't reseed over the winter. Daffodils ALWAYS spread!! Always!! Tulips aren't as hardy or dependable!! Daffodils are a guarantee!
Was it you or your sister that said you lost a bunch of chickens recently? I was wondering why you weren’t taking them the potato peels but then I thought I remembered you saying y’all lost a bunch of chickens
I am so loving your channel. Even at 64, with children all grown I'm learning so much from you!
I love your honesty when having cooking bloopers lol 😂 you’re so sincere and sweet and I appreciate that so much!
Thank you so much!
Hahaha well I am several years older than you and I have had the same potatoe issue😂😂😂
I appreciate that also! So many RUclipsrs come off as perfect!

So incredibly awesome
We used to go to the tulip festival in pella every year! It's been a while since we've went, but it is so beautiful! I'm from southeast Iowa 😄

This is what I plan to do.

This year I bought an auger bit that fits in your drill. It digs the holes for your flower bulbs. So easy, I'm always looking for an easier way.😊

Also, hold your hand mixer straight up and down and dont lean it. It won't splash much at all as long as you hold it straight up and down!

Very tasty looking meals and your family are well fed and happy!

Thanks! We just did that!!
Where do you get your bowls? Usually the old bowls say not for food
Where or where do you get all your energy?

If you cut your plants off, rather than pulling them out of the ground, the roots will break down and feed the soil over winter. Just a tip.
Warming the milk first will also make the mashed potatoes creamy. ❤
😂 holy moly look at my flower bed! 😂 you are so cute!
Another great video Laura. I love all your videos. You make the greatest meals. Ty.
Thank you so much!!
Where did you buy your ceramic mixing bowl? I think I need one!
It's thrifted!
Hi Laura. I know you guys were able to add acreage to your new property. How much acreage do you now have?

36 acres 😊

Thank you so much!
Sounds like a super plan💚
Where did you get your beige mixing bowl? I have been looking for a big bowl like that : )
Haha just love your videos 😊 Never a dull moment 😅
Enjoyed.
Yay Iowa! Pella is near me!
Such a beautiful state!!

Put your egg mixture in first then add your ingredients
Not sure my husband knows where the oven is much less how to clean it, or that it needs to be cleaned.
Smash the potatoes with the beaters before you even turn them on just break them up so there easier to blend
Have you ever made sweet potato pies? Its another good way to use sweet potatoes and simply follow your fav pumpkin pie recipe just substitute .
I'll do that!
Bake and freeze sweet potatoes.... Great to mash and eat, make bread or pie❤❤❤
Do you know that cutting your potatoes before boiling cause them to loose a lot of their nutrients?
At least, that's what my mom always taught me! Lol!
Good to know!!
We love granola too! Did you know that oats are the MOST sprayed grain with pesticides? Organic is best.
Mind your business.
@@singerjo5791 Yes, please forgive me. Accidentally poisoning our children is no big deal. I definitely wouldn't want anyone to tell me. 🤦🏼♀️

Sweet potato pie is really good.
Do you have chickens? Or do you get eggs from your sisters?
Yes, we do!
Your pie crust looks like mine! 😂 hey! It’s the taste that counts.
Love your channel but I missed the part about "I didn't realize it was so bad"???
I believe she was referring to her flower beds that she was cleaning up that had died back from the first frost
You will still have zinnias that will come up just from seeds falling.
Ohhh yay!!!
