We had a Habanero plant we overwintered for 7 years. We named him Habeeb the Habanero. The most delicious habanero we had ever eaten before. The peppers were like the essence of habanero. One fall my brother got into a car accident and we didnt dig Habeeb up. There was a hard frost that night and he died. That was like losing a family pet!
@@adrianpena460 every year in the spring I would cut off any dead branches. It lost most of its leaves over the winter but some branches were obviously dead. We would then replant him and he would begin growing new foliage later in the spring. He usually took a little bit longer to start fruiting than our other plants. Knowing what I know now I would have pruned him way down and left him with some proper lighting in the house instead of just in front of a window.
What would be amazing is to see someone actually show progress of watering and care during winter, then reviving with results from spring and summer. So far, everyone is all talk in how to overwinter but none else.
Thanks for all the clear instructions. Perfect spot in garage where we winter over our Elephant Ears that are so big has to be divide and giving some to family. GreenT. My spouse does not bother to wash roots of the Elephant Ears. I expect the same treatment for peppers.🤞My fingers crossed.
You're welcome and thank you always 🙏🏾🌱 I know some people who wash off the plant foods and some don't ... But as for me, I just wanted to be in to safe side when it comes to eggs or anything of bugs... Next video coming up. I have to harvest in the world garden first time for me...super excited..
Hi Thank you for the helpful video QUESTION…… I will be putting them in the garage so would prefer not to have water mess everywhere lol I was going to buy pots with attached water catch trays. So do you water them from the bottom??? Or top?? (I know from videos you don’t want to keep them to wet, so I’m hoping those type of pots Won’t keep soil to moist) 🤔
You could water top or bottom you just basically try to keep it alive... Light water is better than too much water.. sprinkle some organic fertilizer with your soil to keep it healthy this way. Next spring you'll have a better production
How about showing us a way we can take out bell pepper plant in a fabric pot to move it to a coveted raised garden bed? Will it produce over the winter if it’s covered?
So it all depends on how cold your winter gets.. Even if you cover it and it gets really cold it will change. The bell pepper leaves into yellow and they will fall off. The plant will not be produced unfortunately.. So I don't have any plans growing in a fabric pot but I do have one growing in the container which I could try to video on ..
Yep, probably the leaves will fall off but the plant will still be alive , Just maintain it with fresh soil fertilizer or compost and water once a week...
These are some vegetables & fruit that could grow back every year , Asparagus. ... Horseradish. ... Jerusalem artichoke. ... Rhubarb. ... Chives. apple, pear, peach, pomegranate, persimmon, plum, fig, citrus)
So if you have a small pot you could leave it by the window or put it in the garage where you have a light or put it somewhere with a regular light bulb. .. You really don't need a growing light.. cuz if you have a growing light you wouldn't need to prune this way... Have a wonderful weekend 🌱

Oh so sorry.. but 7 years is a pretty long time.. but I do understand, so sorry for the lost on that 🙏🏾🌱. Sometimes the weather is so strange
Did you follow same pruning and digging instructions? Or did you follow different practices since Habeeb was a mature plant? Thank you.

Ok great that’s good to know.
Alright I’ll be sure to do that.
Thank you!!
And thank you for getting back to me so quickly!! 😊👍

Hey, im Wondering, when to put these peppers back to garden? After i get >10°C outside?
Yes that's pretty good temperature or even a bit early is ok too
I'll have to try this again? I tried it before and it just when black and died
Sorry to hear that. Make sure the soil is healthy and to water lightly once a week and keep it in a nice room temperature area in your home
I live in an area where it gets cold in winter but no sustained freeze. So I think I can just leave the plants in place outdoors, right?
Yep, probably the leaves will fall off but the plant will still be alive , Just maintain it with fresh soil fertilizer or compost and water once a week...
Do i need to fertilize the plant when i transplant it?
Fertilizer and compost is always a big plus.. so yes , lightly is good... Have a wonderful weekend 🌱
What other vegetables can you do this with?
These are some vegetables & fruit that could grow back every year ,
Asparagus. ...
Horseradish. ...
Jerusalem artichoke. ...
Rhubarb. ...
Chives.
apple, pear, peach, pomegranate, persimmon, plum, fig, citrus)
does it still need any light..

New fresh indoor soil goes a long way
Your right about that 🙏🏾🌱
Test the soil. They won't need to be watered very often in the winter. Maybe once a month indoors
Thank you .. great tips ...🙏🏾🌱
You said soap and more? Plz write here thank you
So I normally mix neem oil, soap and water..
I do a two to three drops of soap about 5 to 10 drops of neem oil in a gallon of water
Done it, better to start from seeds in the spring
Too much work for a similar payoff, is that your reasoning?
