Leaving behind the luxury and comfort of Ben Ben, I make my way to Aswan and venture over to Elephantine Island, where the vibrant Nubian culture still thrives. The transition from Aswan to Elephantine Island is a remarkable experience, just a two-minute, $0.25 boat ride drops us in a completely different environment.
After checking into Mango Guesthouse, nestled on Elephantine Island. I head straight off to visit to the unfinished Obelisk, a site that raises fascinating questions about the craftsmanship and tools available to ancient Egyptians. As we delve deeper into Egypt's rich history, we stumble upon an ancient artifact, one that seriously puts into doubt the date of the pyramids.
This is an action packed video with visits to Abu Simbel to see the beautiful temples built by the not so humble Ramses the second and also a visit to Edfu Temple. One of Graham Handcock's favourite places in Egypt.I finally get to meet some fellow backpackers and enjoy some time getting a felucca up The Nile and take an unplanned dive in to see... are there any crocodiles in the nile?
