Me too. The only criticism I suddenly agree with is that the first half of s9 didn’t feel like a last season. I loved seeing the rogues come back but it was first in Oliver’s episode that it started to feel like the final season. That should’ve started immediately.

What are you talking about?? If Eddie did not die Barry would have been dead all the way from season 1. I don't blame Eddie for anything. He even has a strong point. He sacrificed his life so that his friends and loved ones can live and they did not even mourn him. The next we see is Barry courting his fiance.

I can fault Eddie's rage toward Barry because Barry did nothing to deserve his rage. Eddie sacrificed himself and after a time Iris had to move on with her life. It just so happened that in moving on she fell in love with Barry and created a family with him. It was no one's fault but rather just the cards life dealt them.
except Thawnes words to Eddie still came true. Eddie would be the only thawne that would be forgotten. If the negative speed force didn't try some shady tricks, he would of stayed forgotten.

Iris is a minor role in the comics, and a plot device. But going on the Critically Woke channel, they had to black her up (and the whole main cast in the end minus Barry), gender bend and gay alot of people up. Block, Snart, Black Canary.
Rick Cosnett's acting here is phenomenal. He's giving me chilling Homelander vibes and his rage is quite intimidating. I wish we'd have seen Eddie come back a bit sooner so we could experience his pain and descent into madness throughout the season and transform him into the ultimate CW Flash villain with sociopathic behavior and violent tendencies like Homelander and Eobard.
Watch Season 1 and skip to 2nd Half of Season 9. That's it!
Eddie gave up his life to try to stop a psychopath, only problem was it didn't stop him. So to Eddie, his sacrifice was in vain as he lost everything.
eddie didn't sacrifice himself to save the timeline (if anything his death damaged the timeline), he sacrificed himself to stop a monster from ever existing. And it didn't work. So from eddie's perspective he sacrificed his life for nothing, and not only that the man he trusted and saved with that sacrifice essentially stole that life and married his fiancé. Likewise they have largely forgotten him. Unlike the other people who have sacrificed themselves like frost, HR and Snart, he doesn't even get a memento in the team's memorial room. Hell Gypsy has something in there but not eddie. The best he has is an old photo in the police station.

I love how they’re not only timing it back to Eddie’s unseen jealousy towards Barry, but Eddie’s own bloodline. Every thing about the colbat blue arc has been so amazing. They haven’t just made nostalgic references to season 1, they’ve actually been tying seasons 1 and 9 together in such a way. The night Nora died in the post crisis timeline, Eddie being re-incarnated in the future to then obtain his past memories in his other life and travel back to the present. I can’t wait until Colbat Blue resurrects every staple villain like Zoom, Savitar, etc, and I want to see a scene where Eobard Thawn is proud of Eddie for continuing the Thawn legacy and maybe Eddie sabotaging Thawn’s plan one last time.

Having zoom resurrected would give barry a chance to give zoom a proper defeat the same way he killed Henry Allen but not at Barry's hands. Zoom caused barry to create Flashpoint and savitsr to manifest by killing Henry allen.

Maybe flash would not create Flashpoint. So even if he tried not to make that decision, that memory of Henry Allen died triggered barry.
I saw this clip in Season 8 the other day when Iris had the time sickness and he said that his sacrifice ended up being pointless it was an excellent foreshadow of what was too come

I can relate to Eddie, he came back, relased his scarifice meant nothing and he wants a happy life and if there was a power that told us we could have that happy life all of us can become a villain.

Eddie's story is lowkey similar to Savitar's story, which I like. Sacrificed, Forgotten and Bitter.
Only difference is we actually got to see and spend more time with Eddie.

Honestly I get it - imagine killing yourself to safe Barry, Iris and the world only to be resurrected 34 years later to learn that not only did:
Barry marry Iris and have a kid with her
But you opened a singularity and killed a bunch of people and Thawne is still alive
All that being revealed at once is crazy
Barry: Used being the flash to flirt with Iris and break them up, tried to break them up as Barry after timetravling for the first time, after Eddie sacrifices himself to save him he later on dates his girl and they get married
Iris: Denies having feeling for barry, even though shes jealous of all his gfs, still ends up picking Eddie and rejects the future where there married, Eddie sacrifices himself to save the world, she later dates and gets married to barry anyways. In the future he comes back to life and she finally tells him that its always been barry, and that she lied to him, they were never meant to be together.
Everyone: Litterly no one mentions him anymore, team flash got the credit for his heroic act, and his death is just left a mystery for the public, not even a single mention in his muesem, not even a single reminder in star labs(Jay got his helmet put out on display smh(turned out to be zoom too))

Eddie knew what he was getting into in season 1. The signs were there. Even the episode 1x15, 'Out of time' was telling when they were in the bowling alley (ep. when Barry went back in time for the first time), he saw the signs. He even stated 'he felt like the odd man out' when she was with Barry!!!! The narrative for Barry and Iris was set in stone. Why are people NOW questioning this. Iris has been choosing Barry every time throughout the series since season 1 and vice versa. LOVE IT!!!😀

He never got the chance to propose because before her could, Eobard kidnapped him and started rubbing the Newspaper that was written by West Allen pretty much confirming he would never get Iris in the end because it was determined already before his death that Iris would be with Barry in the end even in the episodes in the future where they were still married.

If you really think about it, it’s really Eobard’s fault for doing this to Eddie showing him that stuff, and now the Cobalt is manipulating him to think this way.

TBH, Eddie's origin for becoming Cobalt Blue feels a lot better than Eobard's origin for becoming the Reverse Flash. Eobard was a petty, psychopathic, narcissist who had his moment stolen by his idol. Meanwhile Eddie gets told by a time traveler that his entire life wouldn't amount to anything. He wouldn't become the hero, he wouldn't even get the girl he loved. He sacrificed himself to save everyone and, although it did save his loved ones in the short term, it didn't mean much in the long run. In the end, Barry is revered as the hero, the husband of the woman he loved, and the father of the children he never had. Eddie died a good man, and came back and saw what that got him: nothing. He has every reason to be jealous of Barry, and with the offer of rewriting reality to get everything he felt denied of, his journey to the dark side feels much more personal than Eobard's. The epitome of dying a hero, and living long enough to become the villain. Too bad they only do this storyline with only two episodes at the very end of the series.
Although what you've said was partly true, it's revealed in season 1 that Iris had feelings for Barry since he was a child which means they were always destined to be. Barry didn't just yoink and take advantage like how some people in the comments are claiming. 1:54

I love how things have been brought full circle with this final season, especially with bringinf back Eddie.
For Barry to chalk everything up to destiny is a cop-out. As we've seen in all the years of this show the future is never set. Eddie gave his life to save everyone, and so he deserved a more considerate explanation than "Iris and I were always destined to be together, so sucks to be you".

In life, death, limbo or something along those lines, Thawne's hubris and toxicity are going to have ripple effects in the past, present and future which will also include his descendant Eddie who at this point is walking a fine line between staying true to who he is or walking the same dark path as Thawne himself. In the end we all make choices but it's those same choices that make us who we are as individuals.

I have to say that the episode started the same as the previous one, boring, but since the negative nora offered Eddie the cobalt stone, the episode became too good, like the level of an episode of Armageddon.

Well, don't forget that right before Eddie shot himself, Thawne told Barry after killing him, he'd go upstairs in S.T.A.R. and kill EVERYONE he cared about. I wager he'd leave Eddie alive (ya know his ancestor and whatnot) but kill Cisco, Caitlin, Stien, Joe, Ronnie and IRIS!

I love this scene. From Eddie's perspective, which is right after his death, everyone just moved on and forgot at him. It may be incorrect, as we didn't instantly forget him we moved on after season 2, which was like a year after his death (correct me if I'm wrong), but since we moved on as an audience, we kinda forgot about him until he was mentioned, which wasn't very often
I love the emotion in his voice. It shows that he's not just mad or upset, or even jealous, he's broken. He was recently kidnapped and told his life would amount to nothing, and the one thing he does to change that ends up being fruitless. He died for nothing and came back to a world that moved on. He's without purpose of any kind. He's a broken man
The way Barry and Eddie interacted, it reminds of the movie " The Hand that rocks the Cradle".

since he staged a life threatening disaster just so he would be able to swoop in and play the hero.
whereas Eddie's reasons are more understandable and pretty heart-breaking really since he's just desperate to get his life back the way it was all those years ago before he killed himself and Iris moved on.
really no one this situation is actually wrong per say since Eddie is right it is unfair and cruel that he lost out on a potential life with Iris but also obviously Iris wasn't wrong for turning him down since she's right that they can't go back and change the past she had years to move on with her life and that they both need to live their lives in the present.
which is pretty ironic in a show full of time travel but still it is just a sad situation really.
@@spencerreid2086 I wanted to see an episode or maybe even some kind of flashback on Reverse Flash's backstory as not everyone who watches the show reads the comics so the might not get it. ( I have read some of the comics). And I think Eobard might be mentally unable.
Also I agree with you Eddie's case is interesting as he chose to sacrifice himself but the negative speed force resurrected him and his manipulating him to make him the new avatar.

This makes so much sense. Much like how the Reverse Flash and The Flash cannot destroy one another, but Eddie and the Reverse Flash are both linked to the negative speed force. This is why the negative speed force chose Eddie to be it's avatar. It ALSO means that because the NSF resurrected Eddie, that means he has a chance to start over his life (I'm assuming he lives after the finale... Haven't seen the episode yet) which means he can have kids with someone else which will lead through his bloodline up to when Eobard is born! It's another cycle. Eobard never got erased after the first season, because of his connection to the NSF which has just resurrected Eddie in the latest episode, so obviously because Eddie isn't dead now, Eobard lives... Wtf mind fuck.

Im gonna hope that you just worded that weirdly cuz no need to be rude. but also, I am just saying (and once again, in this very episode Iris said the same thing) she did get engaged to Eddie, but I doubt she would have gone through with marrying Eddie cuz she would have chose Barry in the end, and even if she did marry Eddie, divorce exists. and as we saw in the first season before barry messed with the timeline for the first time, Iris admitted that she had feelings for Barry and they kissed, meaning that even though she may not have realized it after he changed the timeline, it was confirmed that iris did have feelings for Barry, it was just that cyclone situation that made her finally realize and admit it, but just because the cyclone/tsunami incident didn't happen after Barry changed the timeline, doesn't mean that Iris's feelings for Barry weren't there anymore, she just didn't realize it yet or wasn't ready to admit it, and there is no way that she would have been able to ignore those feelings forever. they always were gonna come to light and Barry and Iris would still have ended up with each other. Just reminding you that this is all just my opinion, but im basing my opinion off of what has been said by these characters so no need to call me flawed

He sacrificed his life, rather foolishly, but in a way was heroic to save Barry and the others, and in return Barry took Iris from him, of course in a way Barry kinda was doing that already and should have gotten over her instead of the constant pining he did for her from the beginning which was rather pathetic and unnecessary. Iris was with Eddie and Barry should have just accepted that, but he didn't and so here we are.

But then Iris changed his mind about the Future and said they can change it.
But then he sacrificed himself to save Barry.
I feel like Eddie sacrificed himself to save Barry because deep down he still believes at that moment that Iris and Barry are destined for each other
But now it looks like he threw that out of the window and felt like "Iris should've been mine Barry, not yours!" 😏
