Great commits and lecture by David W. Blight regarding the life of Frederick Douglass. It is July 4th 2020, and it is befitting to engage in watching this video about Mr Douglass since he had much to say about the history of the USA celebrations of this day. “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” ,Is very much apropos to the events occurring today. If Mr. Douglass was still among the living I could image him saying these same words he said over a hundred years ago, and it would be that “ A smile or a tear has no nationality, joy and sorrow speak alike to all nations, and they above all the confusion of tongues, proclaim the brotherhood of man.” (Frederick Douglass)
Mr. Douglass spoke truth to leaders, and to his fellow man to do right by all regardless of ones God given color at birth, or their nationality. When all man are not allowed equal rights, but proclaims “ freedom and justice for all” in their pledge of allegiance, that is a blatant injustice. The republicans chant that they want to make America great again is rhetoric that can’t substantiate truth in the history of the USA. I would love to witness the emergence of greatness by seeing America/American being honest to the wrongdoings they have subjected on people that have contributed greatness in this country and around this world. “The truth will set you free”, we have heard that before, but as long as America/American live the lies that they were once great, and that they could be great again then the fable continues. To make America great would be to make racism, & discrimination, non-existing, in education, housing, health care, employment so that everyone could have a fair chance to fulfill their aspirations. When a generation of children can grow up, and become whatever they inspire to become for the good of mankind then there may be that possibility of making America Great! You might say “I have a dream”, or you might say that “I’m a dreamer” , I know I’m not the only...I do not stand alone. If we as God fearing people do not turn from these wicked ways we will leave the God of all creation no choice. I believe the His wrath is upon the wickedness of world.

If you're new to Douglass, Blight's bio is a good place to start. Also check out Douglass' 1845 Narrative and My Bondage, My Freedom.

Words of Douglas are more than just intellectual and or brilliant... his selection of phrases and interests are for all... and are obviously realistic for truer democracy .... and rights of the overlooked and abused peoples in this entire world 🌎... it's all very unselfish....
