    I have swaged many thousand aluminum ferrules in 1/16 and 3/32 with the princess auto one and Im satisfied with it.

    The manual one would probably be more than sufficient for my uses but you know me, I just like things/tools that make the job easier so I'd probably go with the hydraulic. Especially consider the cost isn't that high.
    Have a good weekend, Steve

      I think you would get use out of both in time .

    I to like the hydropique one. In the trade we use them all the time and are lugs and the wire in electrical have a specific standard. Never had to do them aluminum ones but I have the tools to do it.....CHEERS

      Might be an interesting thing to demonstrate as everyone has a different use for them.

    Hey Steve. The hydraulic crimper for sure. The hand crimper for fencing or something, lighter work outside, but for strength and tension I'd put my money on the hydraulics.

      Hi Larry
      I like the ease of use in hydraulic but the manual one will get used for them situations that will arise . Cheers bud 👍

    the bolt cutter style is designed for those aluminum crimps. the hydraulic is discouraged from double crimping and crimping all the way to the metal aka overcrimping. for guide wires I use two u bolts on one end and keep with the saying: dont saddle a dead horse. since you have shown me its possible im going with the aluminum crimps now if they pass the project farm test LOL.

    • @SteveRobReviews

      They sure work well as I'm thinking the larger cable is rated different and different crimp material to suit the loads applied.

    Hey Steve
    As a garage door tech I've used the same hand swages to make garage door cables and I do have to agree that they work well, but for more money princess auto does sell a benchtop model that's a single handle and it's way easier to operate. But the more I see your hydraulic crimper the more I'm starting to think I should get one to try out to see how it'll do on a daily basis versus the good old manual ones. I go thru a pair of swages at least every couple of years. And yes the cable size and the aluminum sleeves are all over the board even when you routinely order from the same manufacturer. So frustrating

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  8 месяцев назад

      I find the hydraulic so much easier especially if you have lots to do and want them crimped very well.

      @@SteveRobReviews My major concern is how well the hydraulics would perform in cold weather. Cause my tools all live cold damp conditions

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  8 месяцев назад +1

      @TinManKustoms so far the coldest temp I've used it is -12C and it worked the same as hot temps .

    Crimp it! I don't do much crimping and don't put this much into it. You think too much Steve. Got to love Princess auto! Both tools seemed to work! Hydraulic did better.

    I would go for the vise method but you would go broke buying all those vises.
    Actually, I would take the manual crimper to the cabin for those emergency uses.

    How's she goin'? I think the hydraulic crimper did a better job, but for the price I probably would get the manual crimper and live with those results!! LOL Take care!!

      Hi Mike
      Both do the job so for most out there, the lesser cost will work well for the amount of times it will get used. So far the squirrels can't walk along the 1/16th cable to get to the bird feeders , so far 🤔

    • @GrampiesWorkshop
      @GrampiesWorkshop 8 месяцев назад +1

      I still plan on making a squirrel feeder station to try your theory about trying to keep them feeding in one spot!! I'll have to get some of this cable I guess eh!!@@SteveRobReviews

    Steve. Don’t try to crimp cable in a vise. The vise 😅can break! I saw a guy on RUclips a couple of weeks ago break his vise crimping cable. He had to replace his vise at Canadian Tire.😊Excellent advice about checking sizes. The new tool is very nice bonus, it’s adjustable. Thanks for keeping it real ( I like the On-Camera tool breaking videos best….those and the no-maintenance lawn mowers). 😂😂😂🎉

    I like how the hydraulics is more controlled. The hand crimper you reach a point of no return, so if the position is not perfect or the piece moves its "to bad for you" As for the products, this is what we get dealing with Chinese manufacturing.
    Thanks for the demo Steve✌
