I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a few years now. Honestly, I simply forgot that I’ve been subscribed to you for this long multiple times until a video of yours popped back up in my feed, but decided to keep myself subscribed. I’m really glad that I’m still subbed to you, because this video helped me realize that salary transparency IS extremely helpful, and allows us to have much more in-depth conversations about not just what we make, but where our true value comes from: our community. Thank you so much for being bold enough to share this with us.

Glad you found it helpful! Given then expenses in USA, with an equivalent qualification, the pay is normally higher in industry though!

Thanks. Also, it is a nice idea to talk about living cost for people like me who want to compare the salary with their country! In sweden, the salary is lower than there! But there is a big question in my mind about the quality of life and saving ! Maybe It is out of the scope of this channel, but could be beneficial@@engineeringvision

That's a good question and a hard one as the price of living varies significantly from one city to another. 70 K is good for ohio but horrible for San francisco, the best tool I have found is the cnn cost of living comparison website to get an idea of expenses @@Jalalstorylife

That is very low compared to industry for PhD in engineering?

      That’s exactly right!
Unfortunately the gap has gone wider in recent years, during pandemic companies were giving raises to attract high talents and universities had budget freeze and even lowered some of the salaries

      Great questions!
Not normally, that is part of the job! Unless you have an accepted grant, then you can pay yourself summer salary or supplement your academic year salary up to 20%.
