  • Having seen the RTV about the new flight model, I was disappointed with what I saw. Atmospheric flight looks the same as it was, just as there is no atmosphere and gravity.

I'm confused. Isn't that what we already have in 3.6.2?

I posted this video in the Spectrum even before the release of the mechanics. It was with closed access.
What we have now is completely different from what is shown in the video. Do you have Arma 3? Fly there by helicopter or install the Operation Trebuchet mod and fly the ships in it.
      Completely different.

@@Ewan_Gaming dude, we have this already. The only problem is the spaceships feels extremly light in hovermode. That's why its quite hard to control them. But anything else is the same. And Yes, i've played Arma 3 (and A2 also). Spend there over 3000 hours. But hovermode is out in 3.7 anyway so it doesn't matter anymore.

@@Szmer47 The current state works in a completely different way. The center of mass of the ships is too high. Loss of altitude is not intuitive; speed gain is too fast when tilting. At first there is a slope in the Arma, then a pillow forms under the propeller (engines), then the helicopter (ship) begins to roll, as it were, losing height and acquiring a motion vector to the side. In the Arma when landing, the player weakens the thrust of the “lower thrusters” rather than being pushed to the ground by the “upper thrusters” and the center of mass of the ship is much lower. All this still matters since Chris is dissatisfied with the visual, and if you add real helicopter behavior, the landing visual will become just beautiful and epic. I believe that it is necessary to ask not to refuse such a hovermod, but to leave the proximity assist for weightlessness and docking.

They did and too many people complained so they took it away. Now people want it back. Perhaps you should have defended it when the whiners were whining.

I posted a link to this video in the Spectrum before the release of the hovermod. Yes, perhaps it was worth actively defending it, but the current state is really bad. The problem is that people don’t understand that the direction is right, the implementation is bad.

@@Ewan_Gaming It wasn't a bad implementation. It was a WIP ( Work In Progress) implementation. To many people treat the patches for SC as though they are DLCs for a finished game. Hover Mode was very much a Work In Progress mechanic when they put it in the PU. And they wanted our feedback on what was bad/good about it and our thoughts on how it can be improved. But to many backers overreacted, treating it as though it was a final, fully fleshed out mechanic and whined to CI to have It scraped. And CI gave in to the pressure to easily IMO. There are to many drama queens in this community. The community is mostly at fault for why we have gone through 3 flight models and now working on our 4th. Because of the overreactions to Tier 0 game mechanic implementations.

I'm confused how fast cig gave up. Heli mechanic is the best for atmospheric flight.
I'm belorussian and my english is bad. "Bad implementation" was bad translation. I totally agree with you.

It feels much more like the unit has weight. In SC I think that is lacking for sure.

Tilt should only very slightly affect our ships. I have no problem with them moving up to MAYBE 5m/s in the direction of the tilt. Chalk it up to the side thrusters only being able to hold it for the most part. Then put an indicator on the accel slider so we know where lift ends. So if we keep it just above that indicator, we will stay afloat and out thruster commands will be deadened so we do not go rocketing off in different directions when we barely tap the throttle forward. That is all hover mode really needs to be near perfect.

armas flight model isnt exactly perfect but this looks far better than what we have.. needs to be some sort of skill needed to land properly rather than the flying floating turret we currently get.
