I do not keep birds but I do keep tarantulas and, very similarly, arachnologists have been able to make fantastic discoveries about spiders and other arachnids from their captive-bred counter parts. There is a reason animals belong in their individual ecosystems; every animal and every plant plays such a large role in its continued survival. These birds should be able to hunt prey that is natural to them. Honestly, the hare population graph really got me! What an absolutely massive oversight.
Totally. Here in NZ we have critically endangered birds that have only survived because of private/public partnerships where longtime keepers have helped salvage entire species on the brink of loss. This kind of crap legislation often just conceals gross private interests and is usually cheerled by ignoramus pollies looking for a cheap publicity boost. I challenge any of the people involved to pick a damn hare out of a lineup.
Here in the 'States, where I live there is a falconry club, and they take their birds (red-tail hawks) out to specifically hunt for rabbits. it's fascinating to watch because they can catch those critters better than dogs can.
Bird lady needs help bird lady gets help. I've no clue how to do falconry but your videos are fascinating and have often warmed the hearts of me and mine. Petition is signed. Good luck to you all!
Amy, I'm from the USA and have always been fascinated by falconry. I have signed the petition so the beautiful birds can fly and continue an ancient way. Plus, I hope that Alfie will be able to enjoy life with the wonderful birds. All the best.
Signed! I don't understand why governments make laws without full knowledge of what they are impacting and this pertains to so many categories. I wish you all the best in your quest to protect this practice.
I signed and confirmed my email. I truly hope you get all the signatures you need. The conservation work you do with the birds is so incredibly vital. I was really shocked to hear how far off they were with their numbers. Good luck 🍀
In Montana (US) where I live falconry is legal you just need to get a permit and a falconry license. Just a sad that Scotland hasn't put anything similar to this into effect. I signed the potions and hope things get better. Great video to bring awareness to the situation.
I never sign petitions--but I signed this one. Best wishes and good luck, Amy. (I have Scottish ancestry on my father's side, btw.) Please keep us posted when you can.
Thank You for sharing these majestic, feathered friends with us, Amy. You and all you endeavor to do on behalf of them is on my heart and in my prayers. signed
Amy I will sign this petition. The cause is logical and just on the part of the Falconry Community. Keep fighting for this as it seems obvious that the law was made without even considering the birds. Part of my family heritage is Scots from my father's side. I'm immensely proud of it.
I signed the petition and sending all hope and prayers for it to go through. The work you do in the preservation of all these beautiful birds is truly amazing and inspiring. Best wishes to you and the whole community of falconers. 💙
Signed! Whether they are wild or trained, these raptors are magnificent creatures which can bring so much pleasure to observers as well as falconers. A former colleague of mine (in the teaching profession) used to organise a falconer friend to bring his Harris hawk into school as part of his "syllabus" for the teaching of the book "Kes". This was always a huge hit with the pupils!
I filmed that the second time I flew my hawk there. That is my friend and fabulous eagle falconer Roxanne driving! Not many vehicles could get through there! Myself and Barry stood on the other bank watching them come through. After that its an hour drive to get high enough to fly the birds. Quite an adventure before you've even got out of the truck!
Good Lord, these bureaucrats seem to be going after everything that is beautiful, wild, and free. Petition signed! Thank you for your work and many blessings to you and your human and bird families.
Signed and in tears, OMG why are so many politicians taking such a limited approach to natural and historical proud traditions. I stand with you Amy, and your beautiful bewinged and two legged tribe. Blessings to you all ❤ Love has to win also this silliness.
Signed for you, the other falconers, and all of your birds. Thank you for sharing this important issue. You and Barry have presented it in a very intelligent and rational way. I do hope the Scottish government recognizes this and, in turn, responds in an intelligent and rational manner and allows these magnificent birds of prey to continue to fly and hunt as they are born to do.
Signed, and shared to a bunch of groups on Facebook. Your video was heart wrenching. I had no idea this was a problem and my mind is thinking oh hell no.
I signed the petition! All of your 231 thousand subscribers should follow suit...that would make quite an impression. Best of luck with all your efforts.
Hello from California.🇺🇸 I signed the petition in hopes you succeed in your goals. I can feel your struggles, having to sign petitions back in 1973, when the anti-falconry groups attacked the sport. We were victorious and falconry is still alive and well here. -Mike
I am in the USA and just signed and received the confirmation. I wish you all success! It so sickens me how governments both here and abroad spend money carelessly and foolishly on stupid things! And oh my gosh how pro "save the environment" gets thrown at us, among other things, and how unfair the government is with spending our tax money for their desires and not ours! The ways of our world just angers me and the leaders are so out of touch with reality! The governments are so destructive and cause such divisions. Thank you for all that you and your falconry mates are doing! I feel privileged to be able to view what you have shared over the years. You have provided such knowledge and education with what you do, and many of us enjoy your videos even tho we are are not falconers! God bless you all!

I had hoped that the Scottish Government was more successful than their British counterparts as I will be returning to my birthland. Sadly your tale illustrates the oposite which might explain why we are still under the yoke of the United Kingdom. I have signed the petition and rest in hope here. Thanks for your series - very illuminating....... I watch and learn from every episode. Mal
After watching this and a few other of your videos, signing your petition was a pleasure. In recent years too many new Wildlife laws have been introduced throughout the country, with no consideration for, or consultation with the people directly effected. Hope all goes well.
I hope the falconry community in Scotland get the result of a change in the this legislation, just signed the petition. Best wishes to you and your friends amy, from Wales.
Of course I signed it right away, before I even finished watching the video. I do understand how mistakes can be made in government oversight, being a low-level elected official myself. And I can also understand that it can take time to correct them -- red tape is everywhere. But when time is important, there should be better ways through the morass of delay. This is a simple fix that should not be difficult. You present the arguments clearly, and fingers crossed this will be resolved soon!
I’ve signed and send you my prayers for a successful outcome- I love and highly value your falconry and am so grateful to be able to experience it thru your amazing work 🙏😊🌟

She's english, Scotland's just a recreational space for their people they don't represent us. anyway beyond that the mountain hare is protected for a reason, you can't make one law for one group and not another, end of.
I once saw a golden eagle, perched atop a pole by the beach covered in snow in Alaska, in winter. Wild, intense, powerful. We stared at each other a long time. Amazing bird. I have often dreamed of practicing falconry, but it is outside my opportunities, but I want the sport to be preserved. I have a thunderbird bolo tie. It honors the golden eagle. Signed!
Howdy, I was saddened to have just watched your video on my TV. I logged in immediately to heed to your call. I hope they do the right thing and allow Falconry there without hinderance or prosecution. I love all birds and that includes birds of prey. Thank you and all others who are involved. I have signed. Thank you for informing and including us. Warm regards,
I signed and confirmed. Now there are 7001 signatures! I hope more people sign so over two thousand years of golden eagle falconry in Scotland doesn't die out due to a ridiculous political oversight. I love living vicariously through your falconry adventures!
Signed! From the US, I’ve always been fascinated with falconry and hope to experience it someday. Such a silly law that was passed without due diligence. Good luck to the eagles and their falconers.🦅
Dear Amy, this latest stunt by your government saddens me, and I applaud your mission to protect the ages old tradition of upland falconry in Scotland, thus promoting, protecting and conserving your magnificent raptors. As a New Zealander of proud Scottish ancestry, with a lifelong interest in and admiration for falconry, I've gladly signed your petition, and hope that common sense prevails. It's obvious there would not be a threat to the survival of the beautiful mountain hares as long as all the factors explained by Barry Blyther, are understood and accepted.
Very happy to sign that petition Amy & I wish you guys luck in this endeavor going forward! Hope that you and your family are doing well! How is Fable doing? 👍👍🦅🦅
As someone who has been to numerous falconry centres watched displays and read the book "As the falcon her bells" and have a Golden Eagle signed print in the hallway im with this project all way. i have signed.Good luck x

Falconry has a long history in Scotland. I can't imagine eagles kept in aviaries for their entire lives.
I wish your organization Godspeed in the very best of luck and success! it is just!

Very true, thank you!
There might be ulterior motives. Governments hardly ever do things just for the good of the people, or in this case, the environment.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 you are sadly correct. They get carried away and only think of themselves or something they call the greater good.
