I found Killing joke by accident. I bought a used Black Flag vhs tape that had some of their early live performances on it. It wasn't long, maybe 30 minutes. But there was 30 minutes of short previews after that of other bands, one of them was Killing Joke and it was this song. I was like, holy shit, who are these people because they are way better than Black Flag. I've never been the same since....

Such a great song! In my opinion, Killing Joke was a little more creative back in their early days. They had different sounds to their songs and it didn't all sound the same. Even though I still love KJ, their newer material can tend to all run together at times.
Siouxsie and the Banshees' original drummer Kenny Morris was the first to create this tribal drumming in 1977 and Budgie mastered these primitive drums on the Slits' album and on the Banshees' lp "Kaleidoscope" ! Chronology, anyone ? And Killing Joke cited the Banshees in their influences
Quite apart from the fact that KJ and Devo have very little musical similarity, there's the fact that Devo formed five five or six years before Killing Joke
Killing Joke for life! I remember buying this and Adam Ants Stand and Deliver around the same time, both amazing tracks!

After all those years remains a massive track, first time I heard 40 years ago was blown away!!!
And the double-A side to the 7” single in the UK was Change, another thumper of a song.
