    • @NathanWu

      No problem, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
      For co-op, because you alternate study and work terms, you don't get a summer break (as most uni students do). However, you do a get 2-week break in between terms.
      One of my friends is in psych sci and she really liked 2nd year classes, but not so much 1st year. 1st year has a lot of basic science classes and she didn't enjoy them as much compared to 2nd year in which you take way more psych classes. So, in that regard, 2nd year was simply more interesting.
      I hope that helped!

    • @blue1991dbes
      @blue1991dbes 4 года назад +3

      Waterloo CS is amomg the very best in Canada. If you look at University rankings you will probably see U of T, Mc Gill and UBC ranked higher. But rankings depend on the amount/quality of graduate research put out each year. Which quickly becomes an old boys club since universities which hire from Ivy and pseudo-Ivy universities tend to get ranked very highly. Rankings also depend on overall wealth. Waterloo has less faculties that the aforementioned and possibly less students. So it is difficult to compete with those universities on rankings. However rankings aside the quality of instruction tends to be the same but the coop opportunities for Waterloo students are better. The best get to work in the US at the big Tech companies.

    • @NathanWu
      @NathanWu  4 года назад +2

      @blue1991dbes worded it perfectly. Waterloo's CS grads go on to do amazing things, which surely sets UW apart from other schools!

    • @jackbarry8847
      @jackbarry8847 3 года назад

      Lol, Waterloo CS is the best in Canada. Its also direct entry, so as compared to UofT you don't have to apply in first year (where your average is a lot lower than high school). The real gem is co-op. Waterloo's co-op is the best and I've worked in various jobs/industries so far. Admin, OffSec, backend, etc. If you want a 100K+ job out of school, Waterloo is the way to go.

    hey, would you recommend taking scibus as a premed/professional school pathway?

    • @NathanWu
      @NathanWu  4 года назад +2

      Students that are looking to pursue professional school usually choose programs that focus solely on science, as it provides the greatest preparation. You can definitely still be on the pre-professional track in SciBus, but it's not common.

      I took academic courses, got mid 90s in all my classes, and was accepted to every school. On the other hand, it is still very possible to get top marks in AP, and if you can do that, it truly demonstrates your proficiency. Really depends on how much work you want to put in. Hope this helped!

    • @NathanWu

      Congrats on your acceptance! Psychology is very popular at UW and the department is renowned. Because psychology can be quite general (at least in your first 2 years), the co-ops available are very diverse, allowing you to try out a range of different career pathways. Hope this helped!

      I don't but I do have a few friends in the MATH/CPA program! The math at Waterloo is very tough... but if you want to pursue that, it's the best school in Canada to pursue a B.math

      @@NathanWu Thank you so much for the response! I know that it's the best Math school in Canada, an that's why the tuition fee is extremely high, especially for international students 😭😭

      @NathanWu  4 года назад +1

      I don't specifically know anyone studying KI as it's quite a small cohort, but I hear that it's a pretty interesting program with a lot of flexibility. Sorry, I couldn't be of more help, but I'd suggest doing some further research via Waterloo's website!

      Hey, you're going to need at least low 90s, but if you want to be competitive, you should be striving for mid 90s!

      Lol 95+ for CS plus ECs. 97-98+ for SE plus ECs.

    Hello Nathan
    I'm a Pharm D Intern student from India.
    I'm looking forward to pursue Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) in Advanced Pharmacy Practice at University of Waterloo after my Pharm D graduation.
    Can you help me with the details regarding the course (fees, duration, scholarships etc) and the requirements for an international student to get into the same?
    Thank you
    Chelsiya

      Good for you! I'm not an international student, so I ,unfortunately, can't provide the details for your specific case. I would go onto the Waterloo Pharmacy website for information.
      However, I am entering the PharmD program at UW this January. I have a video about my acceptance on my channel if you're interested :)

    Did you choose Waterloo over UofT for their co op programs?

    • @NathanWu
      @NathanWu  4 года назад +2

      Co-op was definitely one of the reasons that made Waterloo attractive. But also I really wanted a campus uni rather than a city uni. Campus unis tend to have a stronger student community and atmosphere which is something I really valued.

    Hello there,
    I am starting high school next year for grade 9. Just wanted to know for the sake of Information, I apologize if I said anything wrong.
    Which high school did you attend before going to University of Waterloo?
    Also does it matter from which high school you went, as far as you have collected the required course credits and other admission requirements for a specific field at Waterloo. For ex- Pharmacy or Science?
    Would I get accepted, If I achieve good grades in High School and credit points for the?
    Thanks,
    Nice Video!
    It was helpful to me as well : )

    • @NathanWu
      @NathanWu  4 года назад +2

      I went to a high school in Markham that currently ranks in the Top 15 secondary schools in Ontario. I don't think your high school "matters" per se, however, there are surely benefits of going to a reputable school. For example, I was being taught by excellent teachers which allowed me to develop a strong educational foundation for university. I was also able to access many opportunities that developed me further.
      As long as you meet the requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The University of Waterloo welcomes those that work hard and desire to be successful. With that being said, no matter what school you attend, try to get the best possible marks. They are one of the main factors universities look for in your application. I hope that helped!

    Do you know anything from the School of Accounting and Finance? Is it good? Does it have good co-ops overall? Could you talk about co-ops in UWaterloo

    • @NathanWu
      @NathanWu  4 года назад +2

      I have TONS of friends in SAF! I'm pretty sure Waterloo has the best accounting school in Canada (don't quote me on this), but it is incredibly reputable. The majority of my friends all worked at Big4 during their co-ops, so if that's something you're trying to pursue, it is very possible here. I hope that helped!

      Depending on what you want, you'll easily be exposed to positions with the Big 4, any Canadian bank, and also investment banks or consulting companies if you want that.
