My favorite is when you shoot wildly to take down an enemy chasing Peppy, usually hitting him in the process, and his response is “Your father helped me like that too!” Really? He did? My Dad sucks then.
Literally when I saw him save Falco I pumped my arm in the air and yelled "YES!" He's learning VERY quickly and I think this second run is going to prove to be a lot more fun for him.
drakelord56 I dunno, he tends to stick to the top of the screen when he goes through a flying level blind, which is what you’re supposed to do on Solar so that works for him.
i kinda agree on the "Hell of a time surviving Solar" but he could also lowwer the branching path by a level by i believe by the cost of a single life.
I was surprised Jon forgot about the whole mountainous rings on the ocean thing, but yeah, flying through rings is pretty second nature to him, I guess.
Being honest, I never correlated flying through the arcs with Falco going through the waterfall. I just thought he did it randomly, flying through the arcs was just something I did for kicks.
The improvement is showing already! Handled the first two bosses easily! I find it easier to completely ignore everything else if you want to fly through the arrow rings in Meteo.
To do the Safety Route, also as Route 9 as according on the Nintendo Player's Guide about Star Fox Strategy Guide which I have got 21 years ago when I used to play Star Fox 64. It is a medium route because of two warps. One from Meteo on the easy path to Katina on the medium path, and the second one is from Sector X on the easy path to Sector Z on the hard path. The lowest score is 2,240 points which is only 35 pints by destroying the boss with only one point for Corneria, Bolse for 33 points for shooting all the yellow squares on the core, and only one point for destroying the boss in Venom 1 before the showdown with Andross. 35 points times 64 does equals 2,240 points, and let Peppy, Slippy, and Falco died in Bolse by the hands of the Star Wolf Team.
Fun fact: When I played Star Fox 64 on my N64, because I played it on a small 13-inch CRT TV, I didn't know the Boss icon on the All-Range mode map is literally the letter "B". I always thought it was a weirdly shaped symbol, though.
“Wolf and I aren’t obsessed with your father! We don’t have shrines dedicated to him, if that’s what you’re thinking!” Also, Emile still did better than my first playthrough. I couldn’t even get past the second stage, and I knew about the charge shots. That was the past, though...
LSD-vision is a good way to describe the warp section. IIRC, to get a medal you have to not only kill enough enemies but also keep all three allies alive through the whole stage. Sector X was one of the hardest levels for me because you have to prevent the scripted Slippy death during the boss fight.
I'm going to laugh if Emile gets soft-locked in his first attempt at Venom II by accident. It's a long ways off but I know he can get there eventually.
Emile getting in two stages in under 15 minutes. It's amazing what an hour plus of practice will do to a player. Training Mode probably was, in fact, a good idea the first time around.
I’m liking the improvements Emile has made on his second run so far. I wonder if he’ll actually save his boyfriend for once (, episode 5 in case if you haven’t seen it).
Next episode will be interesting, going into Fichina with hyper laser and all wingmen. Considering how well he did last time we might see his first accomplished and maybe even medal.
Getting "Mission Accomplished" on Corneria requires you saving Falco and flying underneath all those arcs in the water, and that'll make you fight a different boss.
Yeah sorry guys you have to go under the Arches for the other path. On the bright side Emile is doing loads better so far. Also the Meteo secret path is really hard to get cause of the crazy controls.
@@TheShiningEnergy the warp rings. If you get the warp rings you can go to the harder route that way and its slightly easier to get the medal score. still doable without it.
I remember I couldn't figure out the way to get to the hard path on Corneria for the life of me when I played way back when. I had to learn from a friend what to do and I was never going through all the arches. Now LSD mode in the Asteroid field that one I managed on my own.
Star fox 64 2. he does it. i always wondered if there was some hint to fly through the hoops when saving falco. I guess not. meteo's warp zone is very fun. x's is... not. so we're not going to katina. Wonder how this playthrough will be handled and at what point tim or jon hijacks to take us onto harder routes, if this even will be a full plyathrough.
No, but that kind of makes sense if you think about it. Not only was this from a game pre-hand hold era, but you're doing something that impresses Falco, the ace flier. So, why would he say 'hey, Fox, if you fly through those arches, I'll show you something!' It's why the game also rewards you with a ring. It's meant to be something you, as a player, see and think 'man, it'd be cool to do that, a fun extra thing to do.', and then you get a reward!
I mean they're usually pretty good at 100% these sorts of things. Ans like jon and tim have said, star fox 64 is anything but a long game. So it wouldn't be too hard to go back and show off the alt routes
I highly doubt they're going to show off the extra paths. The point is for Chugga to come out of this able to say "I beat Star Fox 64!" not to show off the game to us.
@@scrabblehandforaname they showed everything in metroid, pikmin and all the other playthrough like this one. Theres really no reason they wouldn't unless they didn't want to.
Dapper Chngeling As a way to unlock a stage, it's kind of stupid. Maybe I could excuse it if it was an easter egg, but this is how they decide to introduce the stage mechanics. Usually the game presents flashing or numbered switches, odd pulsating loops, or some enemy you have to defeat in a limited time, not some fucking normal-looking arches. Sure, it's not hard, but who would guess taking the effort to commit to flying through all the arches would have Falco just decide to go somewhere else?
There is no sole Medium path from start to finish. The 3 areas on that path are Katina, Solar, and Macbeth. Depending on how you handle Corneria, you are forced to get the Easy route to Meteo, or the Hard route to Sector Y, same goes with Macbeth. Easy route goes to Bolse and Venom 1, Hard route goes to Area 6 and Venom 2
Can Emile get the alter Route? Me: No. So far he is slightly improving more then his 1st playthrough. Also yeah you can rescue Falco, but if you don't go through all the rings in the water, Falco won't compliment your flying skills telling you to follow him.
To answer Jon's question about the Meteo's warp which I think Tim sort of answered it just sends you to Katina, another all range mode stage, a rather fun level imo. A very much improved run for Emile now that he got the basics down congrats Emile. Onwards to round 2 of team Star Wolf team in Fichina(Fortuna). Will Emile succeed? Stay tune.
Good work so far. I know these are batch recorded so this comment is useless, but I hope Emile learns about holding zl and zr for sharp turning left and right respectively, as that can be very useful in some situations.

Well, he saved Falco this time at least and for once. 0:35 Emile’s just owning up to this new role he’s taken up, huh? Since I didn’t say it earlier, Corneria is the home of a lot of the Lylat SystemMs population, and it’s certainly a far more suitable environment than most. Plenty of clean water and land to go around than most other planets and a rather mild climate, Corneria’s often seen as a symbol peace across the system and is the home to a lot of characters in the Star Fox stories (though not Fox at least as he was born and raised on Papetoon, a planet which we never see in the games). So two days later and still they didn’t think to put Emile trough training when we know how bad his memory retention’s been these past LPs? 1:20 You say he remembers but until he actually does them I remain warily skeptical about that. 3:00 Corneria is a really rough medal to get. In SNES Star Fox cockpit view was the only way you could pull up your aiming reticle. I miss having that option in later SFs, at least when it was optional and not a required gimmick. Well yeah, Emile, what did you think he was going to do? Stay back with the Great Fox? 8:10 Jon calling Emile a dog almost a year before Tom Fawkes said that TRG is dogs in a Sims 4 stream. 10:10 Katina’s a ton of fun, Jon. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Unless you mean not shooting down any of your allies in which case as someone who’s done that once, I whole heartedly agree. It’s satisfying to hear Fox say “You owe me one” though. Emile’s still flying into things. Guess old habits die hard. 12:30 Took too long on the first and second phases. Still, no deaths and still holding onto those Hyper Lasers. That’s a much better start. See if Emile can somersault under pressure and head to Solar instead of Sector X.
If they knew more about level design, they would learn that by flying between certain buildings will cause even more enemies to spawn in. However using the charge shots would still be needed to get to 150. Meanwhile if you miss the portals in Meteo, you may be able to make it up for the medal by charge shooting the bunch of enemies near the portals. A successful shot would give you +7 (8 points total if I remember the scoring correctly) and there are five of those bunches. If Jon has never been to Sector Y, then he probably has never been to Aquos. That kind of scares me as the first time I went through that place I died a few times. If that is true, then he probably hasn't been to Zoness as well. Katina is fun, except for the time I went for the medal. I usually leave there with almost every member of Bill's squad safe, but the medal only had him as the only one left. He is doing a lot more better but will it mean he can beat Star Wolf, that is something I don't know yet.
Something that may not have been pointed out... the more enemies you kill, the more HP your teammates recover. That’ll keep them healthy in case things get dicey
so Meteo takes you to the Medium route via portal and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! DON'T USE FIRST PERSON AND BARREL ROLL! the camera stays in the cockpit, so the world spins. your controls actually change from from being based on your position relative to the camera and more a control stick style as a pilot would. so up is as you see it. it's.....interesting but if you have any issues with motion sickness, avoid it.

I did not see Emile use his bombs *wisely*
Kenneth Thieu He didn’t use any Bombs which is fine for now. More Bombs to use on Venom.
Something that may not have been pointed out... the more enemies you kill, the more HP your teammates recover. That’ll keep them healthy in case things get dicey
wowviewer They brought that up early on into the LP.
so Meteo takes you to the Medium route via portal
and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!
I thought the title said "The Second Armpit" and was somewhat concerned lol
I'm going to pull a loop the loop around Granga...
