So here’s the comp I would have done… Player A: A Hall of Famer who played with one team during the same era as Mattingly: 1783 games 2304 hits 414 doubles 207 HRs 1085 RBI 965 strikeouts Walked 450 times Batted .318 with an OBP of .360 Slugged .477 w/OPS of .837 7 Gold Gloves Player B: Donnie Baseball: 1785 games 2153 hits 442 doubles 222 HRs 1099 RBI Only 444 strikeouts Walked 588 times Batted .307 with an OBP of .358 Slugged .471 w/OPS of .830 9 Gold Gloves So yeah, Donnie Baseball belongs in the Hall of Fame.
Great comparison. Kirby is a great one too. What seems blaringly obvious is that both Puckett and Koufax had World Series play. I have changed my stance over the years. Mattingly should be in the Hall. And not just saying that because he is my favorite player.
Hands down, he should be a shoe in , he's career may have been short look what he accomplished in that 12 years I mean hell Yankees retired his number they just don't retire any1 #
