Could you put the circuit board and the pressure sensor IN a screw-top squeeze bottle, so it would act as a case for them and you wouldn’t need the tubing to the sensor? Just glue the haptic vibrator to the inside of the bottle and it’s all self-contained. One thing of value you may be able to add is to have it sync to a fitness wearable/smart watch for another heartbeat source. It would add reliability, but the main feature it would allow is the ability for the hugger to feel their partner's heartbeat whenever they want, especially when their partner is at work or otherwise unable to hug the plushy back. You could also add a speaker to hear the heart beat as well. I think it would do wonders for people that get lonely or have separation anxiety when they're home alone!
