- This is just a little review of a unofficial PlayStation 3 controller that has all the same features as a genuine one but is half the price. With built in wireless Bluetooth connectivity and DuelShock, it is hard to see why you would pay more for the genuine article...

A game store that I go to had one of these controllers. I have to say by 2016 they did get the feel down right I was playing some game they were demo'ing and only realized the controller was fake after I looked down at and saw the p3 button. Threw me off to the point where I instantly grabbed another official controller that I saw and had to test them both and felt no differences. The triggers were even working properly. My guess is this, the factory that were making these controllers for sony in china has A- grade controller lots, knowing sony they probably only accept the highest grades possible and the manufacture decided to sell them anyways but removed any sony logos and sell it through other means (aliexpress as OEM) at a lower price. Maybe your controller will have some imperfection, maybe your controller will have no flaws at all.
Windows actually reports the shoulder analog style buttons AS analog triggers, at least on mine. The game controller area on windows reflects analog sensitivity.
I bought the exact same controller with only 14 euro, but I cannot use it unless I plug the cable in. Is there any setting to "make" it wireless, like it's supposed to be?

If the Joy sticks don't work on mine, couldn't I take out some from an original and put them in the generic one? Would that work?
depends on the electronics. I'd it's something internal not letting it work than you'd have to go and get it repaired or just get a new controller. I'd it's just the plastic sticks that don't work than yea, you can take apart the shell and work ypur way to the sticks and pop em off and add the new ones. I've done it to a few controllers when needed
Do the analogsticks respond on screen as a button?(0% or 100% imput.)
I ran these on my PS3 and they worked just as well as the stock ones, dont use the PS3 anymore so I tried using them on an android box and an android phone and it wont connect(via BT). Have any idea if its possible?
These days were amazing 👍👍, I had this PS3 controller and it lasted me for a very long time
I bought the same one. It felt great but when I plugged it in to test it. The D-Pad pressing UP and DOWN doesn't read unless I press it very hard. So I when I try to press diagonally like UP/RIGHT, UP/LEFT, DOWN/RIGHT and DOWN/LEFT, it takes so much pressure on my thumb for it to work. Is the one I received just badly made or is it like that for all?

Go for it! I'd be interested in the outcome as well. Who knows. Maybe in the end it'll turn out to be just a tiny step below the real thing and still under the $54 retail here in the states.

Mine is named "The Double Shock III" It works amazing and has a logo over the P3 button saying P III, It does not have the bad analog sticks meaning I can play COD easily. only problem is that I need to tap the X button a bit strong for sprinting in GTA V, but it is kinda good to have something like for me.
what if you have an old ps2 controller and put those analog sticks in this controller? i don't really want to buy one but i'm curious
Hey, I have a question, does the non-genuine controller charge on any USB source? (i.e. wall charger) or does it need a "smart" port like the one on the ps3, your pc, or a hub which is connected to a pc?

they cost like £12 now on ebay, really cheap. the analogue sticks is quite good. its just when u playing a shooter games, its hard to move the analogue slowly with precision when ur aiming. but when ur using it casually to move around, its fine man.

Wow. Thank you so much for looking all this up. I really think I might buy some cheap analogue sticks from a ps2 controller and see how it goes. To be honest, I dont think it is really worth the hassle but it would be cool just to see the outcome. Thanks again for letting me know. ;)
I have an updated fake controller, it's very hard to spot, the most efficient test its the screws's shape and battery color
These should be perfect for that. They are cheap and cheerful and we used them a lot for Fifa with no problems. Hope this helped.
just bought two of these, aside from it being sensitive yes, but it doesn't take forever to turn on, have not had a problem playing Call of Duty. We have dropped them (2 year old) and they still work. bought them for $20 USD while gamestop was asking $50 for pre-owned controllers each.

sometimes PS3 or PS4 console may have security or authentication measure to NOT allow connection of generic or non-genuine non-Sony PS3 controllers. look in xda-developers forum.
i got one of theses and basically it said that it was wireless and did't state that you needed batteries only a usb to charge it that wasn't included when it was and also its not wireless so i want to know who the manufacture that makes theses ?

I think it is more of the fact the logic board - in the fake controller - can only pick up a few signals from the analogue sticks. So in the the genuine ps3 controllers there might be 16 different directions/inputs from movement but on the fake one, it's only 8 which makes it more unresponsive. I don't think it would even be possible to put other analogue sticks in the fake one... It's a good question though. ;)

+GadgetChameleon I have the CECHZC2E DC 3.7V 300mA Sony PlayStation 3 Controller that I received along with my original Sony PlayStation 3 60GB system (CECH-03) and I know that is 100% genuine because it came packaged with my system and the system model checks out as genuine.
However I purchased a Sony PlayStation 3 Controller from eBay UK yesterday.
The model number of the controller is CECHZC2E A1 and the battery information states DC 5V 610mA.
It is basically exactly the same as my genuine one apart from a larger battery spec and the A1 next to the model number.
Does you know whether that is a fake or real Sony PlayStation 3 Controller?
Take that back it doe effect the gameplay especially when you aim Dow the sight of the gun it's really slow.

Only thing i can find wrong with mine is that the trigger buttons look like the ps3 ones but you have to push em really hard to get em to work....like ps2 L2 and R2 buttons

The main problem. It freezes if you leave it on. if you don't touch a button for more than about 30 to 45 minutes it will freeze up. Try it

Anything similar to this for android devices?
Ended up with something like this from a third party seller on Amazon claiming it was genuine. Before use I noticed the face buttons were not pressure sensitive and the label was dodgy. I tested it out on the Battlefield and instantly noticed how bad it was. Huge dead zones on the sticks which makes aiming impossible.
Fortunately, Amazon are always very helpful and have sorted out my return for a full refund, and I have ordered another from Amazon themselves so it should be genuine.
How did you get these controllers to charge? I can't use mine unless it's connected and I've tried re-syncing it.

hi just got the same one an works fine all buttons an analog sticks can also run in cod only difference is the sticks are a little stiffer but not by much also the usb port dont look like it will take to much to break it..
I'm not sure. I'd have to disassemble a counterfeit controller to see. I'm in the process of replacing the left analog module on a genuine Dualshock though. :D

How can i connect it with bluetooth
I got two third party ps3 controllers to use for emulator games on my Mac. I was disappointed to learn that it supposedly works wirelessly with the ps3 console with no problem, but the only way to have it work with a Mac or PC would be to connect the wire. Which defeats the purpose entirely! Does ANYONE know of a way to maybe replace the firmware on the fake controller with the sony firmware? Sony brand controllers work perfectly on Mac via bluetooth. The fake controller will connect via bluetooth, but will not pair. Mac sees the device as a keyboard and wants me to input a number to pair. Of course I cannot input the number via the controller.. so frustrating.

+Eric Meeks Yea man you need a Bluetooth dongle, this is so for any PS3 controller, even official ones, because there are really no computers that come with Bluetooth support (that I'm aware of) automatically. A Bluetooth dongle can range from $5 and up (USD), and after you purchase it there are plenty of tutorials to teach you how to config it. Glad you wrote this comment that it works though!! My intention was to use these controllers with emulators and on PS3 and I'm glad to know it works. I don't mind using the wire for less issues. Definitely gonna snag one of these now!!

Just plug in the USB cable with the controller and your ps3 and then press the "PS" button on the controller one time :) unplug the cable and press the "PS" button again and you should paired it
After a while, the analogue sticks would stick where ever you wanted to target it

kon ka get the Xbox one it cost more but it's easier than a PS3 where you have to use xpadder and yeah type in xpadder with PS3 there's another program but if you type that in it will come up get the Xbox1 cuz you might notice lag in the controls tv 📺 from controller ok you should be good if you do the stuff I said

It's not the stick themselves, it is the component that detects the movement of the stick. I did actually try and replace the stick with a Sony one and it worked fine but the problem was not solved. :/

I just bought one of these on ebay and I have no issues pushing the sticks down when pushing forward. my issue is with the 6 axis part of the controller. It's more sensitive then the real one. you have to move it very little unlike the true sony. if you move it as much as the real sony it thinks you have it tilted way over.

just bought one for my little brother, dont want him to be shocked or sad if it doesnt work going to try it out tomorrow , but this helped. also i'll let him know not to use it as a primary. but if all goes good then fine. ps i used to buy knock off xbox (original) controllers and they would go out in a couple of days. hated it :( wost a lot of money on it and i couldnt find the originals since they were discontinued. but finally found an original. happy to find one :P
